Perfect on Tuesday with 11.5%

Carefully made, very light and somewhat short, clearly a cooler year, nevertheless not a problematic frame, and good concentration on the nose. Reminds me of Sussucaro to Cornelissen, (or a lightly extracted Beaujolais, type Breton or Thévenet).
I get what i call dusty terracotta, which I think comes from volcanic fields. So they had one called Vulkan and have read that Baden also has soil for it. A very competent friend of mine called it iron, I shurly can tune into that.

A little acid over tannins in the finish, also how I think Breton usually behaves.

Surprisingly good, and nice complexity on the nose. I don't generally associate wine with fruit, but Iwill go for easily underripe strawberries if I allow myself to be pressured.

Day 2, developes well. First some greener notes. Some tighter ephemeral qualities are lost, but still vibrant, more mature field strawberries, deliveres a good punch, quite an achivement from its concentration

This is just so great for its classification.
Pure nose of blueberries, wild strawberries with pronounced acidity.
Vey fresh and light palate with a long strawberry-sweet finish.

Significantly more advanced than last bottle, perhaps not a wine to sit on forever..?

7/17/23, 12:03 PM - Fabio said that there won’t be an Acclivi in 2020, so the Langhe Nebbiolo 2020 received much more Barolo grapes than usual. It’s a great vintage for his Langhe Nebbiolo!

Estery, oxidised, acetic mess. Not through cork or storage, it was bottled that way. An absolute travesty with no redeeming features.

A private dinner with friends (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): Lots of minerally energy, bright and crisp and yeasty, very dry, tight and borderline austere, direct and angular, not all that easy to love.
  • DantheMan123 commented:

    4/2/23, 11:44 PM - I had a completely different experience.
Totally open with ripe fruit and amazing mousse. Resembled some of the best grower champagne I’ve had. Really sad I only bought two bottles.

Pours a dark ruby, this is not a light Gamay. Let it sit in the glass for 2 hours.

On the nose: a potpourri of red fruits, strawberries, sour cherries, and an intense clove note comes through. There's an earthiness that comes through on the nose too

On the palate: crunching acidity, follows the nose with the raspberries and sour cherries, with a plum note following through. Theres a subtle vegetal note, the spices come through with a really nice grip. 3-5 years left on this wine!

(Day 1) Decanted with little sediment. Good color. Seems rather subdued in the nose and on the palate, but perhaps this Barolo is in a restrained adolescent phase…. Who knows? Was hoping for more in-depth flavors with lots of high notes, instead the wine is dominated by wood, dark cherry, and a bit of tar. Has a good acid profile though. Got a fair amount of that red apple finish, which is not my favorite element. I suspect it will peak in five years and continue to evolve for a total of 10 years, but I am not certain the wine will morph into something layered and exceptional going forward.

Purchased at K&L for around $120 and not considered a QPR wine.

(Day 2) About the same as the night before with some wood, dark cherry and now a bit of raspberry maybe a touch of chocolate. Thankfully, no red apple finish..
  • DantheMan123 commented:

10/31/22, 12:18 AM - $120 is more than twice the release price, so yeah I would suspect the qpr would go out the window.

A blend of Garnacha (60%), Tempranillo (30%) and Viura (10%). Aged for 4 years in oak barriques and for further 6 years in bottles before release. 13% alcohol, 6,5 g/l acidity. Total production 20,000 bottles.

Pale and somewhat evolved onion-skin color with a slightly reddish coppery hue. The nose feels rather sweet-toned, very complex and much more open compared to the bottle we tasted a few days ago. There are layered aromas of wild strawberry, caramel and browned butter, some sweet exotic spices, a little bit of butterscotch, light bruised apple tones, a hint of oxidative nuttiness, a touch of something vaguely minty and a whiff of shredded coconut. The wine is firm, dry and very complex on the palate with a medium body and quite intense flavors of bruised apple and caramel, some strawberry, light oxidative notes of chopped nuts and old wood, a little bit of cooked cream, a hint of arrack and a touch of stony minerality. The bright, almost racy acidity lends wonderful freshness, intensity and sense of structure to the wine. The finish is dry, crunchy and complex with a very long aftertaste of nutty complexity, some creamy custard tones, a little bit of stony minerality, light sweeter notes of strawberry, a hint of caramel and a touch of something vaguely minty.

Just like the previous bottle, this is simply a stunning rosé wine by all accounts. The 2010 vintage seems to pack more verve and zip compared to the surrounding vintages, making this not only a very gastronomic wine, but also a rosé wine that is most likely going to age exceptionally well. At 50€ this might feel pricey for a rosé wine, but rest assured - the wine will easily deliver and then some. A stunner.
  • DantheMan123 commented:

9/8/22, 12:36 AM - I would buy the entire stock, if I knew where to find it for €50

  • DantheMan123 commented:

    9/8/22, 8:02 AM - Yeah I'm aware.

But I could only buy one bottle for €50 in a local store, and every other importer I know ties the rosés to bundles, where you have to buy something like six Tondonia reds to get one rosé...

I would love to just be able to buy them...

2020 Ca’dï Press Langhe Nebbiolo Langhe DOC
100% Perno. South-eastern exposition, a selection of grapes that are not used for the Barolo, mainly from younger vines. Maceration with skin contact for appr. 10 days in steel with a following affinamento of 9 months still in steel. This is a lilting Nebbiolo marked by freshness, perfume and the trademark balance of the vintage. Wild strawberries, mint, grenadine and a whisper of white pepper appear quickly on the nose and introduce a pure and translucent Nebbiolo experience with a harmonious fruit. The texture is limber and carries fine, tender tannins, touched by a strawberry-like inner sweetness and just the right amount of zest. Freshly cut red & purple garden flowers, rosewater, crushed red berries, red plum, grenadine and in the background swaths of tar are convincing and defining a pure & clear Nebbiolo bouquet. Sapid finish. Really beautiful.

Was hoping for a wow, but no luck with this one. I sourced through my local retailer who assured great provenance. It lacked the exuberant complexity that I assumed would be there. Especially at this price point, it was horrible QPR.

#3 of 6. 2yrs+ since my last, this is still open & pleasing. Slow ox in Burg glasses & btl for 2 hrs prior to diner. A youthful semi translucent magenta red / purple color. Berries, spice & sous bois on the nose. Striking fruit purity w/ excellent balance, concentration & ler Cru depth.Vineyard fresh flavors of raspberry, cherry, spice, mineral & earthy undertones. Lifted, structured but no sharp edges. A 2015 weightless sense of richness. Lovely Gevrey in the making. Delighted to own 3 more. A tribute to how fascinating village level Gevrey Chambertin can be in the right hands. Wanted to open something I would personally dig w/o going too high bro with my family on my 66th Bday in a terrific Smoky Mts cabin tonight. A nice cap on a lovely hike up Mt LeConte today.

Normal cork. PnP. Tannin were resolved but the fruits were also started to fade. Plum, cassis, and black currants aroma shadowed by alcoholic heat. Fruity palate but lacking in structure. High in acidity. Good with meat but no more.

Dark purple wine, pretty opaque. Floral nose, a bit of spice, lots of dark fruit, some tobacco, then some brighter fruit too. So much going on! Gobs of fruit in the mouth, fine tannins, acidity in balance. This finishes long. What a lovely wine. Ready to drink now but can probably hold for a decade or more.

Decanted for 2.5 hours-bright nose of red berries and crushed stone fruits. Roses and floral notes prevail on a balanced wine. The palate follows on a tannic platform the lasts forever. Had with duck breast and fall veggies- a great wine that deserves respect for it’s 20 years in the bottle. Drank over 2 hours. Wow
