I think this one is past its prime while still being very drinkable. I'm sure this was drinking better about 5 years ago. Still has some stuffing though. Moderate tannins with tar and pure Grenache coming through making for a moderately long finish. A good example of the vintage....although somewhat subdued from what I was expecting.

It has been 10 years since I last opened one of these. My note back then stated that this is not a fruit bomb nor was it an elegant French Bordeaux. So what is it now? It is a mellowed version of what it was 10 years ago. This bottle follows a 2006 caymus and it showed somewhat comparable. Still had fruit but more integrated. Still retained some of the tannins but not as much power. In short, it is more in the mainstream and hitting its stride,,,for many much easier to pair with food. I think it is great. I think it can go a few more years and still be good but no reason to wait.

When you buy Caymus you are buying fruit not power. This wine delivers and gives you what is expected but not without losing at least a Benjamin! I think, some of the tannins have left this bottle but makes the fruit standout even more at this age. I like it very much for what it is...but I would drink up now.

Drinking very well right now. Sometimes I find Caymus too new world in style but this has mellowed into a very enjoyable, lush, integrated wine. I would not let these sit too much longer since I believe in the law of diminishing returns.

Same as last note, drinking excellent, well integrated and smooth finish. Wish I had more at the $40 that I paid. Drinking well above this price point.

an average bottle of wine for the non-wine crowd. Fruity and on the sweeter side with little oak or tannins. It is what it is. Not every wine is something to be deeply analyzed to be appreciated. Opened this for someone who is not a big wine lover and she loved it....enough said!

This is a powerhouse. This is a rich, hedonistic, wine but not in the typical new world style...there is some "old world" elegance to the construction of this wine. The fruit, while quite pronounced, is not overbearing. The power, while you feel it, is not so overwhelming that you miss all the other attributes of this offering. The integration is nothing short of spectacular and you certainly know this wine has been crafted by someone with skills. Drinking very well and I would suspect will drink well for several more years. I wish I had more...lucky for me I do.

This is a wine I could never get tired of. Perfect blend of grapes result in a nicely integrated wine with soft tannins with a smooth, lush mouthfeel. I wish I bought more as this is drinking incredibly well.

This is drinking exceptionally well. Nice balance of fruit, tannins and oak make for a superbly integrated wine at this point. Drinking well above its price point, I wish I had a case remaining of this vintage, as it should keep for another 5 years or so, based upon this bottle.

A decent bottle for the age. At first it had a little too much plum/tobacco but later mellowed and become more integrated. The second day, even better. As someone mentioned, air definitely benefits this wine. Drink up.

Thought I may have waited too long on this one but I was wrong. Nicely integrated, some tannins come through for a medium finish. Still has some pronounced fruit and some oak. Was good on day 1 and 2. Drink up.

Too bad I overlooked these in the cellar. May have been even better a few years back. However, this is elegant, delicious, and finished beautifully. slightly bricked but still fine. I am going to drink these up soon before they lose anything further.

This got better as it sat opened. Patience rewarded us with a nice mature, Rich, juicy wine that is well integrated with a nice blend of tannins, fruit forward, with a touch of vanilla and oak making for a short to moderate finish. Drink up now.

Opened Christmas day to rave reviews. This bottle was in perfect balance. From the very first sip, you immediately recognize the pedigree and know you are in store for something special. The fabulous rich fruit, subtle tannins, lush mouthfeel, smooth medium finish all combine to make this an elegant wine. This is the bottle that you can easily finish all by yourself. I have one bottle left but wish I had more. Maybe I will save for next Christmas...if I can wait.

Bought on recommendation. Another Total Wine private label wine. In other words....you have no idea what you are buying. Told it drinks like a $50 bottle for $17. How can you pass this by??? Well, at best it drinks like a $17 bottle but not a bottle of Napa Cabernet. This is light, lacks depth, complexity, tannins, and anything that remotely resembles a Cabernet. For a few dollars more I could have bought a real cabernet. I am glad I just bought 1 bottle, being the skeptic that I am!!!

Opened another bottle...this has not gotten any better from when I first tried it. While some "fruit bombs" still have underlying power and complexity...I find this bottle just sweet and syrupy lacking anything else. Not a fan.

Initially I really liked this wine. It has great color, bouquet, nice legs and plenty of ripe berry fruit forward. However, after drinking a second glass I realized it is a little too sweet and jammy and lacks any substantial tannins. In short, a new world wine that lacks some stuffing. This wine was made for immediate drinking and will not age so dont wait to drink-up. I like the richness but maybe only a glass at a time. I think a little too much merlot in this blend for me but some may love it to push its score into the 90's. I love their fruit and will try their Signature Cabernet selection that may suit me better.

Nice deep rich color and depth. Needs a little air time before it starts singing. After, this is all you can expect from a cab. Powerful, yet balanced. Fruit forward but not syrupy. Slight bit of tannins indicating this is the time to drink up before it gets out of balance on the way down. I am glad I have more...and intend to drink them over the next year.

Upon opening, this was tannic to the point I thought this needed several more years to see if would be enjoyable. However, a half hour later, some air transformed this into a nice, integrated, balanced wine. The next day, even better. Rich, lush mouthfeel combined with dark and cherry fruit and light tannins made this an easy drinker and well suited as a nice house wine if you can get it under $20. A nice value for what it is.

Balances the line of power vs. elegance. This wine needs an hour decant to realize its potential. Patience will result in a wonderful nose of luscious ripe fruit. This wine is in wonderful balance. The ripe fruit bursts forward and becomes mellowed by a nice balance of tannins and acidity resulting in a long finish. This is a mid to fuller body offering and very elegant in style. Highly recommended.

This impressed me immediately from start to finish. Medium bodied with beautiful floral fruit, elegant, and rich. This is drinking wonderful right now. Only slightly negative note is the tannins have subsided resulting in a shorter finish and lead me to believe that this will be on the way down soon...so drink up now.

Very nice plush mouth feel, flavors of dark berries, currants and charred oak. Wine is very balanced and integrated. This needs an hour to open up and lasted several days corked. I paid about $20 for this bottle and is a great value. If you paid $30, you might have had better choices.

I think this one has faded. The fruit has decreased and comes across somewhat sour. Maybe a bad bottle or maybe needs a little more air time. Revised...better after a few days. The sourness has gone and the wine is much more approachable. At this point I would raise my score to a 89 and consider buying more for a daily drinker.

The key to this wine is to decant it for at least one hour. When first opened it is a little tight with some moderate acidity. After an hour, this wine is singing. The acidity mellows and the fruit opens up nicely. As previously mentioned, this does not drink well the following day. I suggest to drink it up ....which will not be a problem once you taste it!

Dark, lush fruit on the nose indicates that this is going be good.....and this wine does not disappoint. Ripe and rich this delivers a full bodied uncomplicated mouthfeel that screams dark black fruit but is not a syrupy fruit bomb that would spoil the experience. It has a nice long finish and leaves you with enough tingling tannins to grab your attention. Although a bordeaux blend, this is more in the New World style. Some might call this a fruit bomb without the weight....I understand the concept but this is better than that. It is what it is.... and I am glad I have more.

Not your typical Cali Cab. Many floral notes on the taste and nose combined with cedar and currant notes. Tannins and acidity are well in balance to give this some length. A medium bodied wine to be enjoyed by the French loving crowd for sure. This will surely age but I am not sure but I am thinking the acidity will drop off and maybe lose some of the fruit. Why take a chance...drink up within a few years.

First impression was this was dull and unremarkable. After a few hours, this transformed into a nice bottle for the price point. Lacking in acidity and tannins on the finish, it otherwise had a nice integrated body and structure with moderate fruit coming through as time evolved io the bottle. This is primarily merlot based and is no surprise that mellow is the operative word to describe this wine. Very good on all accounts for the most part. I would look to buy more at a decent price point as a nice house wine.
