Wow! What a contrast to the Volnay. The nose is screaming to the point where I felt the need to exclaim out loud. Young but not newborn fruit - beautiful berries and citrus, expressed in a way I haven't really seen before in Pinot. There are other things as well - to me this is super exotic and sexy, with florals and spices and some green/herbal and visceral. You could smell the nose all night. The debate was between 'Sexy' (my side) and 'Juicy'. The palate started off younger and more blockish but came around - never as intoxicating as the nose, was well fruited, perfumed, excellent acidity and mouthfeel. Just wonderful and possibly worth the price of admission. The first L-B wine I've had that impressed me, and boy did it. I can't imagine how the 1ers and Grand Cru will sing if the Lieu-Dits are like this. This should rock in 15. Thanks Suzanne! Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5+/6, Finish - 5+/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17+/20 (with 17.5-18/20 potential.)

Great minerality and structure. Dark fruit and enjoyable tonight with a charcoal grill rib eye. I would buy more for the long haul

2006 Azienda Agricola San Giuseppe Brunello di Montalcino Stella di Campalto Sangiovese
Fabulous old world Brunello. Decanted for 3+ hours. Still very young and a bit tannic, but great pedigree here. Should be awesome in about 5 years.
