Light golden colored, semi dry, low acidity Riesling from Cape Cod, MA. Smells strongly of honey, pear, and citrus with some honeysuckle floral notes. Tastes like semi sweet honey with a light-medium body that leads to short finish. 11.5% ABV. 84 pts.

Light colors of red with a hue of brown. Strawberry, rose petal, and strong acid on the nose. Surprisingly lighter bodied than other wines with this alcohol content. Very dry with lighter red fruit flavors, including strawberry and cherry as well as a hint of vanilla. Not much character to this wine - a bit flat. Overpowering acid that makes this really only drinkable with a hearty meat. 100% Nebbiolo. 14% ABV. 83 pts.

Colors of ruby red and hues of purple, smelling of dark licorice, roses, and pepper. Medium bodied but highly alcoholic. A hint of cherry on the tongue but mostly a spicy licorice that’s offset by a juicy, medium finish with low-medium tannins. Opened up nicely after 30 minutes in the glass. 95% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot. 14.5% ABV. 88 pts.

Bitter and caustic; sometimes you expect this out of an $8 bottle (I bought for the name). Glad I could dump it without feeling guilty about the money.

Light to medium red in color, very strong strawberry and cherry on the nose. Could smell the fruit flavors from a few feet away. Light body and off dry but bursting with energy and flavors of strawberry, cherry, and raspberry. Low on tannins. Maybe a small hint of light currant as well that leads to a short finish. Reminds me of a walk through a strawberry field. Fantastic value for a Burgundy at $12, and I also think this would be a good wine for a newer wine drinker. 100% Gamay at 13% ABV. 90 pts.

Light bodied, semi sweet North Coast sauvignon blanc. Picking up some floral and light fruit aromas on the nose. Lush flavors of peach, pear, green apple, and minerals that leads to a short finish. Drank laying out by the pool, but this is a simple table wine that would pair well with a light meal (fish or salad). 13.5% ABV. 83 pts.

Dark garnet, full-bodied port with notes of wood and dark plum on the nose. Dark berry and cedar taste with a silk-like texture on the tongue and a slight acidic feel at the back of the mouth. Definitely softened and was more enjoyable after being open for a few days. Drank with ice cream one night and as an after dinner drink another night. The 2014 vintage might do a bit better with more age. 20% ABV. 84 pts.

Dark red, medium bodied wine with strong aromas of forest, earth floor and plum. Earth, black fruits, and mushroom on the palate with medium acidity and a short finish. A decent value for the price, but Bordeaux enthusiasts will look elsewhere. 13.5% ABV. 85 pts.

Deep ruby, full bodied and particular heavy in the tongue. Hints of licorice and floral notes on the nose followed by licorice, black berry flavors, and peppery spices. Very strong tanners that grip the back of your throat as part of a long finish. Definitely needs a couple hours of decanting to open up. Drank on its own but would pair well with poultry, dark meats, and heavier sauces. 14.5% ABV. 89 pts.

Medium bodied, deep ruby cab with a primary aroma of dark plum. Luscious black currant and peppery spices dominate the palate with a decent amount of acidity throughout that leads into a short-medium finish. More acidity present in 2016 versus 2016 vintage and nocoffee flavor. 13-14% ABV dependent on vintage. Prefer 2016 vintage over 2016. 82 pts.
