If I had tasted this blind, I would have called new world hipster natty wine. The nattyness is that overbearing. A lovely wine once you get past that wall of VA and funk.

Edit: this is weird. From the last glass in the bottle, it was hazy and super natty with some air. But I decanted it into five small 4oz bottles and those bottles didn't show the nattyness at all - it tasted more like I'd expect Lapierre to. I'm not sure how the same wine from the same source bottle showed so differently served two ways, but it did.

Their wines are super low intervention and probably a bit reductive, so that extra time with oxygen likely helped. These Julienas releases tend to need an extra year or two in bottle to integrate, so always good to decant them when you can when young. I only have one bottle from this vintage in cellar but will probably open it a year from now so I’ll try to circle back with a comment. Cheers

LdH whites are probably my favorite white wines in the world to drink. They are so complex and it is a joy to drink them right after release or wait another 5-10 years. This being in the oxidative category, I am also a huge fan of sherry, having traveled to Jerez de la Frontera and tasting through raw soleras. You cannot deny the quality to price ratio of wines like this from Spain and even Portugal. Let us hope that these wines stay affordable forever.
