10/13/23, 6:52 PM - doesnt that just make the other wine overpriced? roses are usually 15 to 25. maybe 30 to 35 for premium and 7 to 10 on the lower spectrum.
10/13/23, 8:36 PM - thanks for your thought out response. much appreciated. you clearly have experience tasting a wider variety, at higher price points then i was aware even existed for rose. i wish the cellar tracker gave the ability to delete the original comment. your note was an excellent one. as you personally requested, i will not ever comment again on your tasting notes. apologies for the original comment in the first place. no offense was intended. only stumbled on this one due to the excellent note you wrote on the aubert park ave. was trying to decide on a wine to take to a birthday dinner. thanks for tn.
9/2/23, 7:25 PM - will this wine benefit from aging? your short note was telling. i felt the same with the 2018. well made wine for the style it represented. not sure if it will gained any complexity in aging with the oak, vanilla, choco notes.
1/13/23, 9:16 PM - Feel your pain.
11/24/22, 4:09 PM - Definitely dont think this was so big. Its definitely in the 90s and very well made. A bit big in that it was a little higher in acidity. But very sonoma coast in nature. Felt surprised that it was this good.
7/25/21, 5:30 AM - I tried the 2018 gf durant Chardonnay. How does the gf and Pgc Durant chards compare for 2018. Purchaser of both. Trying to see if i should try and pick up some Pgc for Durant too. If you happen to know the differences blocks/vilification can you share that too?
7/25/21, 1:01 PM - Thanks Bob for the reply. I am thinking of getting each of their 18’s, now i know to get the 19 too for Jim’s. Thanks again. It’s hard to find tasters who go across the producers. Really appreciate the help in understanding. I don’t usually like chard’s; recently had the goodfellow and then was tracking down the vineyard for other chard’s and perhaps I’ll try the Pinot’s too. (I really like the Jim’s Pinots so it’s good to know to the chards are good to try as well.).
1/24/21, 12:43 PM - Sounds like it was TCA or tainted. Given the volume, it could happen.
1/24/21, 12:42 PM - Aka bottle variation. Based on the notes across the brand seems a frequent occurrence since the underlying wineries are different and sold their overstock. (Could try keeping it open a couple days and also decanting just to make sure)
1/13/21, 3:39 PM - I got a bottle at retail like the one you described. My bottle that was from the winery was much better amazingly so that I bought 2 more at retail. Seems like it's providence or bottle variation.
1/23/21, 7:26 PM - My bottle got better after day 2 in the fridge.
10/5/20, 7:27 PM - Yes, it was the same bottle as noted without coravin. I moved to smaller bottles with screw tops to preserve. I use glass water bottles generally and a pretty cold efficient fridge.
5/15/20, 8:42 PM - What was the disgorgement date?
8/13/19, 6:06 AM - At 94 95 rating for 40-50. Seems to fit the bill you mentioned. You can check my notes for other chardonnays at those price points. Most cost more. Grgich hills is in a quality to price category that is hard to beat. To get more you need to pay over 50 and generally in the 55-70 zone. Maybe Ramey is in the same zone. Joseph phelps you have to pay a bit more. Others you can buy at auction... again the quality cannot be certain since auctions are a bit of a risk.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
