Just a wonderful representation of what a Napa cab should be. Well integrated tannins, dark fruit and cherry and a long finish. Decanted for about 35 minutes, but opened up well over the next hour.

Opened with short decant. Deep violet in the glass and a big nose of blue fruit, graphite, and floral notes. Big wine with very well integrated tannins, and a long finish. This wine is just now coming into its own.

Pop and pour. Red fruit on the nose and the smoke was definitely there. Fairly simple pinot palate of red fruit a little earth and low tannin. Wine seemed a little acidic which was surprising given the bottle age at this point.

A nice declassified Hirsch though playing second fiddle to the SVDs.

Truly a classic wine. Purchased from the caves at Banfi just a couple years ago. Provenance was amazing as only the lower millimeter of the cork was soaked. Decanted for 2 hours before first sip. There was nice bricking at the edge but not thin. Nose of dried red fruit, tobacco, and stone. On the palate those were present in perfect harmony. Tannin had faded in to the background leaving the fruit behind. This wine still has PLENTY of life ahead. Finish easily lasted a minute. Drank with strip steak and italian cheeses. What a great bottle.

Really nice SV Turley. Lighter in the glass than most bottlings and plenty of red fruit on the nose and a hint of cedar. Agree with other notes that there wasn't as much spice as you get with others. Nice balance and a medium finish.

Amazing complexity in this wine. Deep garnet color, deep blue fruit nose with oak and tobacco. Tannins have softened a good amount and the wine is already showing nice balance. There is an addition of earth and some spice on the palate to compliment the fruit. Easily a minute long finish. The wine will improve over time but it is singing right now.

I LOVE Ehren's SVD zins and the old vines is a great wine. Some vintages of the Juvenile are great weekday wines when you don't want to pop a Pesenti, Ueberroth, or Salvador. I don't get the love with this vintage. Muted all the way around. You get some red fruit on the nose but the big raspberry and brambles is missing. Very little tannin therefore the acid takes over. Short finish, but not unpleasant.

I'll put Morgan's rose up against any domestic producer. Pulled this "old" rose out tonight to pair with spicy tuna rolls and edamame. Great pairing. Almost orange color in the glass dominated by a peach and floral nose. Peach and lemon on the palate with some grass and floral notes. Great wine for the end of summer. Note to self, buy a case of the 2012 when it is released...

Killer QPR. dark purple hue and a nice red fruit nose with some pepper. Both present on the palate with some spice and darker fruit. Good acidity and a medium finish. This is one of Morgan's wines I believe can be enjoyed in its youth.

After 21 years in the bottle I was amazed this still had life. Reddish brown in the glass from the bricking. Good nose and good red fruit still present with some tobacco. Near the end, but a fun experience.

Perhaps a little more understated than most Turley SVD zins. Maybe the location? Still had the dark hue in the glass and the red fruit and spice nose, but a little more floral. That minerality was present in the palate which was dominated by brambly red fruit and white pepper. This lacked the power and finesse of the Ueberroth and Pesenti, but a great wine none the less. No need to cellar, it's ready now.

Believe it or not, this wine still had life to it. Simple nose, but the palate had much more going on. Raspberries, kirsch, and some pepper. Short finish, but after 12 years in the bottle it exceeded my expectations.

What a great bottle. PnV'ed. Big red fruit nose and medium purple in the glass. Mostly red brambly zin fruit on the palate but there's enough other "stuff" I.e. 18 other varietals to make this blend very well rounded. Plenty of tannin, but doesn't come off mouth drying, and the medium finish is very pleasing. Most will say to let this sit, but I'm not sure more bottle time is needed.

A little better on night two than night one, but it just doesn't have much going on. Didn't expect much from a $11 Napa cab, but even at that it didn't deliver. Look to Chile or Spain for better values at this price point.

What a big wine, but a great wine. Decanted and poured through Vinturi. Nose of big blue fruit. Deep dark blue in the glass. The wine is shining right now with red fruit on the palate and a long finish. This style is so great...

Very nice CS from Pride. Decanted for 2 hours and poured through Vinturi. Nose of blueberry and plum, some oak and vegetal notes. Long legs and deep purple in the glass. Wonderful integration in this wine as the fruit, tannin, and acidity are in great balance. Much more restrained than many of the high octane cabs of this generation. I think it has taken this long for the wine to get to this level, but it will age well for another 3-5 years.

Agree with what some have said, this seems to have pinot characteristics on the nose. Strong nose of dark cherry, violet, and oak. Bright fruit on the palate with the familiar smoked meat and a little oak. Good finish that lingers longer than I would have thought. Good balance for a wine this young but I do feel the pieces will come together over the next couple years.

Drank this for my birthday. Decanted and poured through Vinturi. In a better place than it was a year ago. Big red fruit on the nose with the right amount of zin spice. Tannins have mellowed over time and are in good harmony with the acidity. Long finish with the spice really showing up on the back end. Don't see any reason why you should wait on remaining bottles. Chances are, you have the 07 08 and 09 Ueberroth's sitting in the cellar as I do!

A great Sonoma zin from Bedrock. Decanted a couple hours prior to tasting. Dark in the glass and dark fruit, oak, and even some bread yeast on the nose. Palate of plum, raspberry, oak and a little tea leaf. Long finish and in very good balance for being so young. Really enjoyed but agree some more bottle age might help.

We thought this was a great bottle. PnV'ed. Big red fruit on the nose with not much more than that. Same on the palate without the Turley zin spice. We didn't drink this with food which I think was a good choice; less complex than the single vinyard wines. Medium finish and the 15.9% ABV was well hidden. Last bottle of this and am looking forward to the '09.

Great bottle of syrah. PnV'ed over a couple hours. Dark fruit on the nose with violet and some smoke. Dark in the glass with medium legs. Balance in this wine was wonderful, with medium tannins balancing out the acidity and a long finish. This wine could compete with the big boys.

PnV'ed from magnum at friends' dinner party. A real crowd pleaser for a non-wine geek set. Typical aussie red fruit without being too over the top. Dark in the glass with long legs. Palate was nice but not memorable and the finsih was short; but the overall balance of the wine was nice. I scored this high perhaps due to the wonderful setting in which the wine was enjoyed.

PnV'ed to open. Too tight initially with only a hint of dark fruit and a lot of pepper. Left the bottle for a few hours and came back to find it had opened nicely. Good blue fruit, some floral notes as well as some soy as someone else had mentioned. The finish never did lengthen which would be my only knock on an otherwise well aged wine ready to drink.

Drank over 2 nights. On night one it was pretty tight and a little hot. Really opened up night two, from which I post this note. How in the world Ehren Jordan can hide 16.1% ABV is beyond me, but this was a nice wine. Bright red brambly fruit with the typical Turley spice. The Paso region is such a great area for zin. I prefer this over many of the other Turley SVDs. Stood up to ribeye steaks with ease. Good, long finish. No reason to sit on these in your cellar.

Has evolved into a really nice wine. Decanted for 2 hours prior to tasting. Very dark in the glass with nose of plum, dark fruit, oak and vanilla. Great balance on the palate with good tannins and well integrated oak to go along with the dark fruit and cocoa. Longer than average finish. I would say this is in the prime drinking window.

Killer juice for the $. Decanted for an hour prior to drinking. Has a deep nose of plum, pepper, and graphite. Those were present on the palate along with cherry and a little mint. Long finish. Great balance on this wine structured with solid tannins. This $20 cab drinks better than plenty of $60+ Napa cabs.

Another great Il Poggione Brunello. Unfortunately it was a PnP through Vinturi...we did not have time to decant. Great nose of tobacco, earth but with bright red fruit also. Suprisingly bright palate of cherry, very acidic too. While not as "old world" as some BdM's, it is a style I just love. This wine will easily go for another decade.

From 375, drank over two nights. My previous note raved about how great of a Tuesday night wine this is. I would now say it's a great any night wine. This syrah drinks like a wine of much higher pedigree. BIG dark fruit, black pepper, and a little oak. The tannins have mellowed somewhat since my last bottle and has brought the wine into great balance. The heat has disappeared leaving just a great wine, made in the style I love

Very good syrah though not what I was expecting. PnP'ed through Vinturi. Big wine with dark fruits, smoke and meat on the nose. Those are present on the palate and I also got some of the chocolate others mention. Long finish. Drank over a period of two hours. Was just opening up at the end. I would definitely give this some time in the bottle or at least a long decant. Great wine, glad I have another to drink down the road.

This was a really nice wine. Decanted for 3 hours prior to serving with ribeye steak. Bright fruit nose for a cab but still some oak there too. The midpalate really shows the blackberry, plum and even some red fruit with tones of graphite and oak as well. Tannins have completely mellowed leaving just the great wine. Probably starting to close soon so drink up.

Tonight was "pull a random Turley out of the tissue paper and see what it is" night. Probably wouldn't have opened such a young bottle otherwise. PnP'ed through Vinturi. Big red fruit nose of raspberry and cherry with some typical zin spice and almost pinot like translucent in the glass. Bright fruit on the palate dominated by blueberry and blackberry; much more fruit forward than other Duarte's I've had in the past...lower ABV too (15.2%). Pretty good level of acidity with lower tannins, making it less balanced than some other SVD Turleys. Pretty short finish which might lengthen with more bottle time. Great bottle overall. Too bad I was only allocated one botte.

PnP'ed. What a nice wine for the price. Deep purple in the glass and a nose of dark fruit and even a little chocolate. Good acidity on the palate and the tannins were in check for a young wine. Short finish but for an entry level wine this drinks way above it's pay grade. Would definitely recommend at $17 where I purchased.
