I opened this because I had seen a post on IG where there was a concern about volatile acidity. I'm not getting that today, so not sure if this is just a case of bottle variation.

This is already open and enjoyable. My one word of caution here is that this is a big, ripe wine (14.5% alcohol per the label). In that regard, it reminds me of Stella's 2015 Brunello, which I tried back in March. So maybe this settles down with some additional time in the bottle, but right now it is featuring some in your face fruit. This is a single vineyard wine from the La Curva vineyard.

Last bottle of this wine, previously tasted it 4 yrs ago.
Seems like the time in the bottle has significantly improved this lovely PN, with aromas of red and black fruits, stems, camphor, espresso, and mint.
The palate shows a beautiful, medium bodied wine with very nicely ripened red and black fruits, echoing flavors from the nose.
Finishes with fine tannins and generous acidity, this wine is in a great drinking window right now.

1/2/24, 11:27 AM - Did you get an intense smoky aroma on this, or any other bottle you’ve had? The bottle i just opened had this, and i found it to be quite offputting. I was wondering if it was a fault or just how this ages?

This bottle felt a bit overdone with the oak; perhaps few more years in the cellar will take care of that

What a wine! The nose is enough to win over any wine lover with its display of flowers, cocoa, dark red, and black fruits, earth, and spices. But, as good as the perfume is, it is on the seamless palate with its opulent, exotic, display of silk and velvet textures that is the perfect backdrop for more than 60 seconds of perfectly ripe fruits that express a sense of purity, elegance and yes, sex appeal. Still young, this is a future legend. Drink from 2023-2050.

Light ruby. On the nose, raspberries, red plums, black cherry, flowers, loam, a subtle hint of burned toast and vanillin oak. Broad spread of fresh fruit on the palate, smooth and round with a hint of prickle, medium to high acids, low to medium tannins, medium alcohol (14.5%), lovely aromatic back notes. Long finish, lovely balance of simply blocked out elements. Excellent with chile.
