Deep garnet color. Old leather on the nose, with a hint of cigar and potpourri. Medium body eith medium-to-medium-plus acid and medium-plus fine-grained tannins. Some brambly red fruit on the palate along with some bitter coffee notes and forest floor. Tannins really started to dominate over time; the tannins seemed to have outlived the fruit here.

Served blind. Deep purple color. Baked dark fruits on the nose. Medium-plus body, lithe tannins, medium acid. Dark cherries with a hint of mint on the palate, evolving into blackberry compote and cranberry sauce. Lots of sweet fruit. Definitely better than the 2014 Tronquoy Lalande served beside it.

11/6/22, 9:55 AM - That looks a bit conservative to me. I do not think there is a hurry to open this, and would be surprised if it was not still going strong in 2035.

Decanted two hours before tasting. Deep inky purple with long legs. Overwhelming oak aromas even after the decant -- especially caramel sauce but some vanilla as well, maybe a blueberry muffin. It was like walking into a bakery. At the three hour mark some dark fruit was finally able to poke through. Fairly tannic without much acidity and little to no fruit on the palate. The flavor profile was tar on the front turning to wet gravel mid. The lack of acidity and fruit made this feel very harsh; my wife described it as rustic -- something for the cold winter months with root vegetables and stews. Was a nice complement to the dry aged ribeye we were having but not particularly pleasing on its own. Overall it was fine, but very disappointing relative to expectations.

10/6/20, 7:41 AM - Something definitely seemed off, but cork was in in good shape and no signs of seepage. Only in my possession six months, so do not know what storage conditions were before it arrived at retailer.
