The wine did not really have much of a nose, slightly berry, no alcohol smell. Beautiful deep ruby color. Flavor was a bit thinner than I would have expected. Wine was very mellow with a hint of berry and spice. Couldn't place the spice. Paired this with a beef tenderloin with fresh herbs and horseradish. Wine was very complementary and held up nicely to the rosemary and thyme rub. We allowed the wine to breathe in a glass for about 1/2 hour before drinking. Decanting would have opened the flavor but I wonder how deep the flavor would have been.
