Not bad for second wine from Calon. Though 2011 is not a splendid vintage to shout about.

Kept this for 5 years. Finally got the chance to open. Decant time is short before we finish it. Fruit forward without much oak. Plum, black fruit and subtle hint of spice is what I got initially. When we are down to the last mile of the bottle, there are much more layer that started to reveal. Too bad it’s gone too fast. Will try get more in future to truly appreciate it.

Has it at tapas bar serving Jap-Spanish fusion food. Decant for 2 hours. Had a cote de Rhone prior to this bottle. OMG the expression of musar can rival Bordeaux, particularly Margaux region. Smooth, elegant and medium finish. Hint of oak, leather, cigar, fig has dominate as the primary note whereas black fruit like dark cherries and plum and herb has become the secondary note. Acidity /alcohol is on the right level but tannin level is slowly fading away. My experience is it has just past it’s peak. Drink now to enjoy its full potential.

PnP. Not a bad merlot from Tuscany region. Notes of black cherry, plum, herb and oak. Balanced acidity and alcohol though tannin is on the slight side. Overall enjoyable.

As usual, st henri never fail to disappoint. Pour and drink along the way. After 2 hours, magical taste started to emerge. Dark plum, berries, oak, cedar and herb. Balanced acidity, alcohol, just on the higher side of tannin. Can be stored for another 3-5 more years before peak

Bold ripe and jammy. Concentrated with dark fruit such as black berries, cherries and plum. Decanted overnight and tannin somewhere balanced with acidity and alcohol. Drawback is I felt the sugar level on the higher spectrum. I will spend my $ on other cabsav.

Tasted Sonoma and Russian river range. Expectation was high but realized the range are meant for different audience. Akikos range felt more sweet for my liking. The initial oak and strawberry notes are very promising. Right balance of alcohol and acidity. Cherry and herb are noticeable after decant. Only comment I have is the sweetness kinda empower in some way. Overall I prefer the Sonoma range for it balance in all areas.

Carton of 6 finish within a month. Ready to drink but need at least 2 hours of decant to mellow down the tannin. Flora, plum, herb and fig. with slight hint of cassis, fresh grass. Oak is not that pronounce. Give it another 2 or more years and will be even better. Good QPR. Ready for another carton.

Bold and expressive. Decant for an hour and slowly consumed over 3 hours with Argentian steak. The high tannins and acidity really complement the steak. Note of berries, coffee, vanilla, leather, oak and plum all slowly reveal by itself just shout out into my face. Can taste the freshness of the wine. Very good. Truly deserve high rating.

QBR wine from SE CB. Though can be aged further to mellow down the tannin. But not much diff in taste after aged. It’s already shown it true potential. If I am to describe Margaux as an elegant lady with its demure character, st estephe will be like a gentlemen with confident with it body texture. Firm and showing finess in the bodied with balance acidity and alcohol and medium finish. SE has become my current favorite for Bordeaux wine.

Bought 3 bottles. Tried 1 last year and was impressed. Waited another year before opening. TBH not much difference but overall ready to drink. Just need to ensure decant long enough. High tannis and medium bodied with dark cherry, plum and dark fruit. Secondary note of oak, tobacco, vanilla and spice slowly reveal after decant. High acidity and medium alcohol with long finish.
Saving the last bottle in for another 1 or 2 years. Potential for aging

Another PN I’ve tried and didn’t disappoint. Flora note and honey with slight hint of oak note. I can taste vanilla and freshly grass after 30 mins of decant. Compared to Sonoma coast, this feel lower medium bodied and less tannin. Overall well balanced with medium finish. 4.2/5

Nose doesn’t have the usual trait of the earthy smell when opened. Have tried 13/14/15. Not nice if it is due to the vintage or the aging. Cherry, perfumery with vanilla, leather and spice come after decant for an hour. High tannis which will be better in couple of years later I reckon. Alcohol and acidity is medium plus with medium finish. This particular bottle can be aged for another decade...

This is good! 👍 when pull, the ripe and bold red fruit initially present a harsh tasting note with high acidity and tannis. As the night goes with an hour of decant the potential start to reveal. Typical hint of PN such as flora, strawberry and honeysuckle... with a balance of acidity and alcohol and complex body structure. Even the oak complement the overall medium finish. Will get more

Can be stored for a few years more.... Intense nose of wood and gravel when first opened. Decant for an hour but just doesn’t cut it. Another hour and it get better with secondary notes of dark fruit and licorice, leather and tobacco slowly developing. On the tertiary note I can find forest floor and river stone. What a powerful and complexity this wine has! Tannin and acidity has slowly balanced off in the decanter. Paired very well with pecorino cheese.

Been a while since I open a special wine. Decant for an hour initially but not opened up fully. Left it for another 2 hour and the true potential started to reveal itself. First sniff reveal a complex note, with dark fruit, cherries, oak, vanilla, herbs, tobacco and leather. Some slight hint of forest and stone follow suit. Multiple structure layer with well balanced of acidity and alcohol. On a high tannin side though which I believe it will taste even better with at least 3 years of storage.
Now to get more of these...

Ready to drink. Very good from this vintage. Reminds me of the trip I had in Tuscany back in 2017. Fresh, young and fruity. Cherry, plum and berry. Herb and forest floor with slight oak revealing itself slowly as we drink. Well structured of tannis and acidity. Medium finish. Gone in half an hour. Worthy of a revisit of their 2015 and Hoe it turns out.

Old world and aged medium bodied. Copper and brick color. Decant for 3 hours. Oak with flora as the top note. Cherry, plum and slight hint of herbs as the secondary. Slightly higher in tannis still with medium acidity. Will be even better after next few years, when the tannin mellow down.

Winner from Del Douro. Big brother of the Pacheca vinhas velhas I had a while back. This big bro doesn’t need that much decant and is ready to drink. Similar to vinhas, bold with lotsa berries and dark fruit. Spice especially eucalyptus and cedar slowly reveal, with some hint of fresh grass and pebble. Balance on tannis and acidity. Very well structured with medium finish. Favorite among ladies during dinner. Again good QBR.

Not sure about the aging requirement from Sonoma. But since it’s 2018 I reckon 2 years is the min. Young and fruity and ready to drink. High acidity/alcohol and medium tannin create a slightly sweeter content but goes very well with my crispy roasted pork belly. Not much layer and depth. Hint of blackberry and some herb and perhaps slight hint of oak. Enjoyable overall and good QBR.

Pour and drink. Good QPR. Not bad, considering it’s just bottled for Rosso where it need a min of 3 years in the barrel. There is only slight hint of oak when open. Followed by flora and fruit. The flora is especially pronounced here, making me think of bee feeding on nectar in a meadow. Fresh and just out of wood is another feel I got. Light bodied with well balance structure of acidity and tannin. I am getting more of these. Highly recommended

Not as good as I am expecting compared to Colonia from the same producer. Tannin when first opened and opened up after 30 minutes of decanting. Hint of oak, berry and cassis on the primary note, thereafter hint of herb (Eucalyptus/black pepper/thymes/oregano) and fig surface on the secondary note. The wine has reached its peak and ready for drinking, judging from the balance of the acidity, tannin and body. Still enjoyable though except for my high expectation.

A new style for me for white burgundy. Undervalue white. Though not as okay as I expected, the smoothness and citrus hint of pear, lemon and some buttery feel to it make up this newly discovered favorite white of mine for now. Paired with Chinese style seafood such as white cream crab vermicelli and Chinese style fried calamari make the wine super enjoyable!

Bold year. The wine still young and potential for years to come. Decant for 2 hours. Dark fruit, jammy, cassis and fig with slight hint of herb. Oaky and cedar with a velvety texture. Medium acidity and tannins with a long finish. Well structured and favorite among friends over pomerol.

Left Bank. First time using tasting note Assistant : )
The wine looks brick colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like fig, prune, raisin, forest floor, mushroom, stoniness, espresso, cedar, oak and vanilla. It tastes like fig. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.
