Silky. Big blue and black fruits and a touch of spice and menthol. Still strong tannins. Medium long finish. A big, wonderful wine; sad that this was our last bottle.

Classic CdP drinking really well. Bright red fruit with hints of plum and cherry. Solid tannins. Strong garrigue and tobacco add complexity. Nice lingering finish 1-2 hr after opening. Very nice now, but will certainly hold if not improve over next few years.

Garnet color showing some age. With an hour air, earthy nose emerges with super barnyard scents. Fruit soft, red raspberry and herbs, but with subtle blue and black fruit notes. Increasing tobacco notes emerge with time. Not what I remember or expected from this wine. Very interesting, but maybe not for all tastes.

Red-brown color. After 1 hr earthy nose with bright fruit aromas. Soft and delicate on the palate, bright red fruits with lavender and other herbal notes, plus a touch of cocoa. Perfect acid, well balanced. Very quaffable right now. Should hold, but may not improve much.

Red-purple. Tight after 1 hr, but gradually opening beautifully over the next hour. Floral nose. Plummy-raspberry fruit with emerging blackberry notes as it opens. Quite complex. Distinct cedar and diverse herbal notes. Solid tannins. This is rocking now and shows signs of much development to come. So sad this was our last bottle.

Not much development in the second hour after opening. Red-garnet, fruit in the nose. Light bodied, elegant style. Bright strawberry and red raspberry fruit balanced by distinct tannins. Unusual, but pleasant, smoky notes. Definitely would show better paired with food. I don't see this one getting better with more years under the belt.

Purplish-red with little signs of age. Bouquet gradually appearing 1+ hr after opening, becoming increasingly complex. Red and black fruits slowly emerge, notably plummy with mint and cocoa notes. Got it wrong last time--this wine still has miles to go. The winner of a 2014 horizontal with Pegau, Clos des Papes, Vaudieu, and Donjon.

PnP excellent right out of the bottle. Big earthy and fruity nose. Forward red and black fruits, raspberry, blackberry, currant, tobacco, soft tannins, long finish. Probably at its peak.

Bright, light floral nose. Huge complex palate including butterscotch, fig, apple, pear, cherimoya. Solid backbone of tannin stronger on day one, perfectly balanced on day 2. Tremendous.

Big, nose of ripe fruit and light rose and violet floral notes. Super fruit forward, blackberry, plum, black currant, fig, light cocoa. Tannins in the background but providing solid structure. Perfectly balanced with long finish dominated by moderately concentrated fruit. No sediment. Probably at peak with potential for a bit of further development over next several years.

Beautiful! Big floral bouquet on opening. Complex mix of black and blue fruits--currants, blackberry, plum--plus oak and cedar and light tobacco. Long balanced finish. Elegant--fruit forward but not a fruit bomb. This is a well structured wine drinking near peak, but probably benefiting from a little more time in the bottle.

Surprisingly accessible for a 2016. Very open and floral within an hour after opening. Concentrated blue fruit and strong herbs--lavender, sage, and olives. Long finish with complex mix of tannins, herbs and intense fruit. Looking forward to future development of this one, but it is already very nice.

Decanted, steadily improved for 3 hours. Complex blend of tobacco, cedar, buttery cocoa, mostly black fruits--plum standing out. Soft tannins, silky, medium acid. Finish long, balanced. This is drinking quite well right now.

Ready to drink on opening and improving over the next hours and second day. Floral aromas, especially violet and ripe fruit. Blue and black fruits predominate, notably blueberry, black currant, and some spice. Tannins are soft. Well balanced with a long complex finish. This is a real winner and drinking very well right now.

PnP good to go from the start. On day 2 fruit a little more restrained, but still concentrated and complex. Well balanced, smooth, spicy, and with a long finish. Blue, black, and red fruits. Black cherry and blackberry predominate. This was a great value.

No detailed notes. With a couple hours of air it opened up beautifully. Well balanced, long finish, complex. Sorry to see our last bottle go.

2-3 hours to open up. Seemed very heavily oaked at first. Violet, rose and other floral scents after it opened up. Chewy, extracted fruit, soft on the palate after the tannins mellowed and fruit expanded. Very complex with black cherry, plum, leather, rich cocoa, and heavy cigar notes. The finish was long and nicely balanced fruit and tannin. Seems to have the potential to improve considerably--looking forward to see where this one is in a couple of years.

Faint bouquet. Creamy and buttery, apples and pears, not very tart, oaky. Finish is oaky and smoky. It's a bit bitter on its own--very nice with cheeses.

Smooth, velvet. Red and black fruit, especially blackberry, plum, raspberry, strong herbal notes of rosemary with a bit of green olive. Tannins provide perfect structure. Long finish of fruit and herbs. Drinking very well now, maybe near peak.

Mature, garnet color. Big earthy nose on opening, dissipating after an hour or so and becoming less pronounced. With about an hour of air bright cherry and plum fruit on the palate with herbal notes and strong tannins. Medium to light body. This is a great food wine, went well with pasta with red sauce. However, it is not complex and less interesting on its own. It was too big and tannic a year ago, now it is probably closing in on its prime. It will be interesting to try again in a year, though I'm not sure the fruit has enough life to age for too many more years.

Lightly floral bouquet. Round body and very tart. Quince, tangerine, and red raspberry fruit. Finish a bit short--the acid lingers in a pleasant way, but the fruit fades too fast.

Restrained and elegant, not in the big fruit style. Well balanced with ample tannins and raspberry and other red fruits. Not spicy. This will probably improve substantially with a few years of age.

Drinking well right now. Opened fully after 1-2 hours. Bouquet restrained floral. Initially black cherry and spice dominated on the palate, evolving in a mix of red and black fruit (cherry, blackberry, plum) with distinct black pepper and cocoa notes. Tannins well balanced through the long finish. Sorry to see our last bottle go.

This seems to be in its prime right now. It opened considerably after 1-2 hr after decanting. The fruit is intense with blue and red flavors--cherry predominated early, followed by currant and blueberry. There are also distinct notes of spice. It is quite complex and evolves through the finish. It is just what one hopes for from a Rutherford.
