I have been steadily working away at draining my second bottle of the 2009 sigalas rabaud (sauternes) and found that it lasts quite a long time in the refrigerator between nips, which is always a good sign that the wine will have good longevity in the cellar. The flavors changed little from the first sip until the last drops two weeks later. The wine is quite dense and viscous with a strong midpalate which matches the pear, peach and apricot nose. Sweet and sour mingle together and work with the botrytis to generate great balance. All of the components are singing an even, well balanced chorus with no singer too loud or meak. The finish, a sweet persistent buzz that would mezmerize a bee into a confusing dance. A very complete drink which easily replaces desert and raises good cholesterol too!

The '89 is drinking wonderfully now and with a hefty amount of acidity and very dense fruit I can't imagine this stuff ever fading. I have six more bottles and I will probably have the next one in two years.

Has all the usual qualities of dunn howell mountain but am I imagining it or is the 86 starting to fade a little bit. Still a glorious wine of great depth and richness. After the acid blew off noted some embers on the nose. Still has life giving acid and copious tannins which are now softening and silky smooth. I have a few bottles of this year left so I will consume them over the next several months and I think that will be it for the 86.

12/27/08 Tasted this wine with 2000 latour, 92 la jota aniversary release (RP 98+), 86 gruaud larose, 96 dunn howell mountain and 96 cos and the pichon literally assasinated them all. This stuff is drinking fabulously now and its hard to believe that it will get any better. All wines were decanted 2 hours proir to tasting. The nose filled our nostrils with thick asphalt, rich dark earth a little like Haut Brion and there is a massive midpalate, a very thick mouth feel. The rich and concentrated flavors go on forever. I havent had a wine like this, especially the midpalate since tasting the 93 maya. I'm sorry I only bought a half a case.
