2018 Ridge Rancho Lambert Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
Outstanding blueberry pie scented Zinfandel in an opulent (for Ridge) style. A hidden gem— don’t miss!
Red
Solid, densely-flavored, appellation level Pinot. Not certain if it is worth the premium over other top-flight producers.

2016 Ridge Mazzoni Home Ranch Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
Inviting aromas of spicy fruit, gravel and a minty/herbal element. Robust and full texture with good tannin structure. I like this one a lot.

Red
Offers a compelling mix of fruity and savory elements finishing the a dusty grip.
Red
Primary, plush and oaky right now. Air reveals a lot going on underneath the surface; including the classic Monte Bello wet stone character. Delicious today but should have a lot to offer in the coming years.

2018 Ridge Geyserville Alexander Valley Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
Deceptively light on its feet, the dazzling 2018 Geyserville delivers a kaleidoscope of red and black fruits, Asian spice and flowers. It delivers enormous pleasure today but I’m looking forward to its evolution over the next several years.

One of my favorites from Ridge. The 2018 is laser-focused with a sensuous core of dark cherry fruit, accented by baking spice and spring flowers. Alcohol is high, but remains balanced with the intense fruit and acidity.

Poured with some sediment. Deep purple color. Aromatically dense, lushly textured with a rich core of plum and black currant.

2015 Château Giscours Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Dark purple. Classic Margaux nose of violets, dark berries and forest floor. Long and full in the mouth with a woody finish. A very classy Bordeaux with a long life ahead of it. Would love to taste again in 10 years.

2017 Ridge Wild Cattle Creek Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
Fresh and red-fruited with an appealing mineral streak. Reminiscent of the 2017 East Bench.
White
Richly concentrated and built to last. Could easily hold up to a course of strong cheeses.
Red
The nose is just starting to develop, with leather, blackberry, and violets. Long, generous and sappy in the mouth. I appreciate that Ridge gives this one some extra time in bottle.

A pleasant and thought provoking Pinot Noir , it shows its origin of the true Sonoma Coast with it's relatively pale color, cool piney herbal aromas with cherry and pomegranate. A balanced and somewhat intellectual Pinot.

Runs a bit hot, but it has an appealing spicy cherry and dried raspberry flavor with a lengthy finish.

Comes across as rather taciturn for a New World Cabernet with a formidable structure; lots of tannin, acidity, and alcohol. It needed lots of air to come out of its shell to reveal espresso bean, black currant, and raspberry aromas. Hopefully this very dark-toned Cabernet will reveal a bit more with some cellar time.

Always a favorite of mine, this is especially good this year. Dark purple but not opaque in the glass. On the nose, a basket of perfectly ripe dark fruit; blueberries, black currants, and cherries with cedar, vanilla and star anise. Linear and full of flavor on the palate, finishing with ripe tannins.

The entry level Mondavi Cabernet is always elegant and classically styled, never showy. It is typically composed of mostly Oakville (including To Kalon) and Stag's Leap fruit, and usually sees only about 15% new oak.

This is a big boy, high in alcohol and extract, but with enough acidity and tannin to round it out. It has a potent aroma of mocha and raspberry ganache, a rich, full mouthfeel and a long finish. It unfortunately has a slightly sweaty character as well that keeps me from liking it more.

Forward, with a hint of sweetness. Lots of Pinot driven fruit with just a touch of yeastiness.

A great Malbec in an iconoclastic style, imagine Malbec by way of Santa Barbara Pinot, high-toned and racy with red and blue fruits and a long finish. I can see how it may be divisive, but I'm on board.

Really classy juice, velvety textured with a medium body. Violets, crisp plum and blackcurrant, slightly stony finish. Bravo.
