Impressive, this was in a good place. Aromatic honeyed, peaches and cream, rich but with enough acidity to balance. This was a surprise, much better than anticipated.

From a producer I usually love. This was past its prime. Overtly oaky with the hot vintage robbing the wine of the fresh acidity I find in the more recent bottlings.

Pale red color. Cool strawberry rubarb notes coupled with earth and fresh acidity. Very nice effort from Alsace.

Deep golden color. Aromas of lees, roasted nuts, browned butter and toasted oak. Weighty and rich, but with sufficient acidity to finish fresh. In fact it finishes fresher than most Cali Chard. The palate shows loads of tropical fruit, lees and toasted oak. Big and rich. Solid, or better than solid, just not particularly my style. This bottle suggests to me that this wine had already peaked and I would recommend visiting bottles if you still have some in your cellar.

A treasured old companion. I had long since consumed the last of these that I owned, but was fortunate enough to have a friend share his last bottle with us at dinner last night. Savory, with a pleasant touch of vegetal character, and subtle, earthy notes. This bottle appeared to have peaked and begun its gentle decline. I wish I still had some to watch gracefully fade. I am a big fan of this producer. I have never had a bad wine, be it village level or from better sites, great vintage or lesser vintage.

Outstanding, interesting tension between opulence and minerality. Mineral, botrytis, honey, and floral notes on the nose. Very balanced, rich, but with outstanding acidity to freshen the wine. Hard to believe that this wine has 100g of RS. A touch shy now, but with all the raw material to go the distance. I would love to see this wine again in a few years.

Loved these in the past, but this was sadly showing past its prime.

A compelling nose botrytis, stone fruit, honey and washed river stones. Ample textured and weighty this wine was lush, but balanced with refreshing acidity. A blend of Pinot blanc, riesling and sylvaner. Honest wine that is clearly evocative of it's place of origin. I have been really impressed with this producer of late.

Deeply coloured and very structured. This really impressed after an hour in the decanter. Lively acidity and bright precise fruit. A clean focused wine of grace and elegance. Balanced and long with fine grained mineral tannins. I am going to have to get more of these and I am fine with the wine world's general lack of regard for the region as these wines show tremendous value. Cru Beaujolais is claiming a far bigger portion of my cellar than I ever dreamed, but I am finding their charms impossible to ignore.

Classic Oregon aromatics. Intense fruit with a savory edge. Red fruit, floral and sage aromatics. Ripe, but balanced. Plush tannins nicely supported by the acidity. Very nice.

Dark fruited and ripe, backed by fresh balancing acidity and supple talc like tannins. Smoked meat and floral notes on the complex nose. I did find the fruit to dry out a bit a time wore on. One the top 3 wines of the night. Tasted blind.

Intense, wild, sauvage aromatics: meaty, earthy, savory wild thyme and sweet ripe dark cherry fruit. Medium plus acidity with ripe soft supple tannins. Polished. A richer, darker constructed pinot. Tasted blind and turned out to be a good quality pick considering the priced paid by my colleague who brought it to the tasting.

Cinnamon, ripe cherry fruit and smoky bacon on the nose. Cherry moving towards dried cherry and a slight pruney character on the palate led me to believe this wine has peaked, at least this particular bottle. The fruit was drying out ever so slightly. The tannins were firm and the wine balanced by still fresh acidity and stoney minerality. A solid wine gracefully fading.

Mineral and textured. Very fresh for a Californian Chardonnay. Apple fruit, earthy with a bit of funk which made it hard to place as a new world chard as this was tasted blind. Glyceral with an interesting dichotmy of texture and freshness. I would love to taste this again with a little more time on it.

Fresh, punchy with a bit of heat, which became more noticable with time. Red fruit, spice and a savory edge adding a pleasant green character that was interesting and not overblown. Youthful and requiring time. I think the material here is solid.
