PnP. While the nose remains bright and lively centered around blueberry fruit, the palate is dark and dense with a slight hint of blueberry behind dark blackberry and black cherry with some bramble. Better on night one than night two.

PnP. Full of bright layered red fruit. Much brighter and less bramble than many old vine zins.

PnP. Great Zin. Combination of bright red fruit and blueberry which pops from the glass in a smooth balance package. A bit of spice on a long finish. Some heat creeps in at times and keeps it from even a higher score.

PnP. This is still rocking with depth and life. Notes similar to five years ago with the addition of some olive in the mid-palate. Seems to have plenty of life left. Wish it wasn’t my last one.

This is even better on night two after VinVac.

Decanted for 90 minutes and drank over the next two hours. After the 90 minute decant, it had a huge green streak which made it unbalanced. It was better with food. 3+ hours in, it was much better. A little bit left 4 1/2 hours in was undrinkable.

On both PnP and poured through the Vinturi, the best description I have is rustic. It has smoke and graphite but I don’t get the fruit that others described. I think it needs time or lots of air.

Note from PnP on night three after one glass via Coravin on night one. Solid red fruit with some hot spice on the back end. Not much complexity.

PnP. Had good cherry fruit but no complexity. Alcohol was way too prominent. Not sure where this is headed but it doesn’t seem to be in the right direction.

PnP (May have been a touch better after a 45 minute slow ox). Dark fruit with layers of meat, smoke and a touch tobacco. Wonderful.

Wow has this done a 180 over the years. PnP. Nose is dark fruit with tobacco and toast. Palate has become a silky balance of fruit and secondary/tertiary components. Alcohol is now well integrated.

PnP. Intriguing aromas of red fruit with some wood. Palate is more red fruit in a smooth and balanced package but without any oomph through the finish.

PnP. This was an interesting wine. It started out with olive, meat and all savory and then changed quickly to red fruit sweetness. Would have liked to see the two aspects more integrated.

Drank double blind after a four hour decant. Very young but a nice wine that most likely has tons of upside.

Decanted for an hour, returned to the bottle and drank around two hours later. Drank non-blind since I brought it along side a 2009 Montrose and a 2009 Hundred Acre Fortunate Son which were blind. This had lots of Bordeaux characteristics even though it is 100% Cab from California. Enough tannins to suggest early on in the drinking range.

PnP. This is a very enjoyable wine with dark fruit overshadowed by smoked meat and earth. I did not get the fresh and vibrant fruit that others did. I wonder if it is evolving that quickly and with a few reviews suggesting a shorter drinking window, this is one to keep an eye on.

PnP. This has entered a phase that is a significant step higher than the last bottle I had 14 months ago. Dark fruit layered with pepper, meat and a touch of smoke that went really well with brisket. It is time we stop calling this a great QPR (even if it is) because that does not do it justice.

Decanted for two hours and drank over the next three hours. After initial decant this was a young, red-fruited cab with intense fruit. At the 3 1/2 hour mark, it started to add some layers and depth. At five hours, it was still improving, adding complexity including a darkening of the fruit. 93 today and likely higher in the future.

Very tight with huge tannins on PnP. Poured through an aerator this opened up to show a classic Cab with plum and dark fruit. Good finish with gritty tannins. I would hold and/or decant.

This continues to be a great wine. Coravin’d the first night. PnP the next night. May be even deeper with some time in the glass. Plenty of time left.

PnP. This continues to evolve. This seemed a little lighter and had more lift from the floral aspects which interlace with some savory smoke and dark fruit.

On PnP, this was harsh and biting. After a 45 minute decant, a friend who likes fruit forward wines, enjoyed it. I didn’t try it until the 3 hour mark after the friend mentioned how much the wine had changed. While still full bodied and bigger in structure, this had evolved nicely to show blue and black fruit in a smooth and luscious package. Decant decant decant if drinking now.

Decanted for an hour and drank over the next hour. Very similar on initial decant and two hours later. Color is deep and rich and belies it’s age. Palate is classic aged Bordeaux blend that would seem French if served blind. Cherry and plum behind pencil shaving with leather and some earth.

PnP and drank over two hours. Even though I had read previous reviews and was expecting a different type zin, I would have never guessed zin in a blind tasting. Very light and a touch thin through the mid palate and finish.
