Saturday night wine selection. First sip was underwhelming. Sam says it was watery, I say it was jammy. Awesome nose of red cherries. After letting it breathe for 30 minutes, it mellowed a little, but it’s still pretty pungent. Goes exceptionally well with grapes, crackers, and cheese and it cuts some of the sour/pungent taste.

Thursday night drank with Cava. Smells like blackberry. Has a great balance, smooth tannins, and medium body. Maybe a little tart. Would definitely recommend.

Strong fruit forward smell. Concentrated black and red fruits. I want to say plum on the nose. Upon drinking, not particularly complex. Medium body, well balanced. But I expected more complexity given the aroma. Still a little tannin, but it’s probably past its window. Or getting there. Still very good. Drank when Sam’s parents were here.

Blackberry notes. Smooth and medium to light body. But strong fruit forward taste. Low alcohol. Well balanced. For the price, doesn’t get much better for a nice drinking wine.

Drank when Sam’s parents were in town. Blackberry on the nose. Fresh dark fruits. Needs a minute to breathe. A little sharp immediately upon opening. More tannins than I would have expected from a Merlot. But eventually opens up after an hour with a beautiful velvety mouthfeel. Plenty of time to let it keep aging.

Drank with Sam’s parents and with sushi. It was good. I get some slight cherry notes. Upon opening, definitely a little tight. Needs to breathe a bit.

Great fruit forward smell upon opening. Strong plum. Dark fruit and dark color. First sip right out of the bottle was a little tight and I got notes of pepper. Let it breathe for 30 minutes and picked up very slight tobacco smell (still with plum). After 30 minutes, taste was slightly less harsh, but needs more time. After an hour, much better. Enjoyable.

Delicious. Agree it still has some time to age, but good body and tremendously well balanced. Definitely needs 45+ minutes to open up and then it smooths out a lot. Really good wine. Drank on a random Tuesday night and had with cheese ravioli.

Random Friday night glass. Late night with no food. Upon first open get a strong alcohol smell. Hint of vanilla and tobacco. First sip had none of the alcohol and was quite smooth. Maybe almost a little flat. Medium body. Overall, very good table wine. Not particularly complex, but would be a crowd pleaser for sure.

Drank the rest of the open bottle. Fruity nose with hints of raspberry. Drank with fish tacos and bowls from Dock Local. It’s good. For the price point, it’s worth it, but it’s close.

It’s good. Drank with sea bass baked with lemon and butter sauce. Went well with the food. On it’s own, it’s fine. Everyone else says strong lemon smell and taste, I don’t get that. I get more of a crisp green apple.

Smells a little jammy upon opening. Probably too young to drink. We used a Coravin and drank with some frozen dinners on a random Sunday night. Smooth drinking, but not particularly complex or depth of flavor. Good for the price point. Hints of dark cherry. Opens up after about 30 minutes and the jammyness fades.

I smell blackberry. Sam says “I like it a lot.” Drank while taking dog for a walk. Awesome wine for the price point. Definitely worth buying a case and drinking on the regular. Well balanced. Maybe a little jammy. Solid wine.

Cherry on the nose. Still super young, but we drank on a random Tuesday with some chocolate pecan pie we got for v-day. Much better than I remember. Well balanced. Good body. Soft tannins that mellow even more after 30+ minutes. Definitely recommend.

Excellent wine. We let it breathe for 30-45 minutes and really mellows nicely. Medium body. Not particularly bold, but very well balanced. Drank with steak when Sam’s parents were in town. I taste hints of blueberry and blackberry.

Good stuff. Drank on the eve of a snow day. Drank with wild pork loin cooked sous vide, with asparagus and rice. Not as peppery as other pinots, which I like. Full bodied for a pinot, making it even better.

Drank at Drake’s with Matt and Molly. Really good. Fruit forward on the nose, smooth and balanced on the palate. Still young and needed some time to open up. Really good and went well with pasta, pizza, and shrimp.

Sam’s first reaction was “ohh, hits me on the sour.” Pleasant smell, pick up notes of pepper. I taste cardboard for some reason. Good balance and drinkable. Nothing special, but good. Drank by itself on a random Saturday night. Did not drink with food, so maybe that would have improved it.

This complex wine has an enjoyable fruit forward smell, but much more savory and I get pepper on the palate. Very interesting. Can definitely taste the “Rutherford dust.” Great value wine. Hard to place it, but it’s good. Drank on the night I passed the board certification exam.

Actually a 2013, not 2011. But phenomenal wine. I don’t remember liking it this much when we had it in person in Napa. I think it’s nearing the end of its drinking window. Medium body, very smooth out of the bottle. Good dark color. Blackberry on the nose and a very slight peppery note. Drank on New Year’s Day with Black Eyed Soup. Good drinking wine. After letting it sit for 30 minutes, got more pepper and balanced out nicely.

Not normally a huge fan of Tonella vineyard because it’s more acidic and “dusty,” but the 2014 is amazing. Drank after dinner on Christmas and was very mellow after being decanted for 30+ minutes. Some slight astringent characteristics, but really good. Would recommend.

Perfect Christmas dinner wine. First sip right out of the bottle was a little tight. Strong cherry flavor. Maybe a little plum. Dark in color. Amazing wine. Then let it decant for an hour and there’s not much better wine out there. Concentrated fruit, smooth, and perfectly balanced.

Mellowed significantly after 20-30 minutes. Very peppery. Surprisingly good. Not usually a fan of Silver Oak, but this was smooth and easier to drink. First sip was too overwhelming. Pepper and earthy tones. Drank on Christmas Eve.

Smells like a fruit bomb, but doesn’t taste like it. Excellent balance. Smooth and full bodied. Still plenty of tannin and I’d bet you could lay this down another 5+ years without issue.

It’s good for sure. Solid cab. Notes of blackberry. Good “every day drinker” but nothing super special. I’d drink again. It’s price is just about right.

Sequoia Grove doesn’t disappoint. Solid wine. Still young for sure, so definite fruit forward taste and nose. Drank on a random Wednesday night after work. No food and was great.

Delicious as always. Medium body, well balanced. Fruity, but balanced well by tannins. Decanted and let sit for about 30+ minutes opened it up. I taste plum. Drank after a rough 3 weeks at work, on the back patio, watching horse shows. It was good. Worth $100? Maybe not. But still good. I think 2015 Cambium is significantly better.

Drank at Il Mulino New York. Went really well with homemade pasta. Still way too young to drink, but it was good. Mellowed a lot after sitting for 1-2 hours. Good balance of fruit and tannin. I agree with the other comments. This is a solid cab, but not stunning.

Light bodied. Maybe a little blueberry on the nose. Drinkable, but nothing special. Opened for a random Sunday night dinner eating Salsa Fresca Chicken. It’s good, but probably wouldn’t buy it. Although really good value at $15.
