Expecting more. Nice structure dark fruit, pencil lead, low sugar and good tannins. Then just disappears. Finish is almost missing. No complexity. Scratch that, after an hour of air, cherry finish peaked it's head out. Must decant for an hour plus. Much better now

Big nose of rhubarb and cherry schnapps. Layers of finishes including graphite and anise. Smooth and slippery. Pares well with vegetable ravioli.

Boysenberry compote, vanilla butter layers mid palate, medium big mouthful, intergrated tannins morphing to pencil lead and black cherry finish. More complex than expected. Best vintage of Pine Ridge Merlot, yet!

Big mouthful of darkfruit with pencil lead and tabacco. Tannic graphite on the finish. Well done for $35.

Big mouthful dark fruit bomb. Really nice fully extracted Paso Cabernet. Raisin, plum, plush, with glycerin and anise. Fights above its weight class. If Caymus had a winery in Paso this would be it.

Nose has a slight strawberry note. A little sour and tannic upfront. Mid palate mouthful is nice followed by cherries and acidic finish. Tastes like a 12$ bottle of wine with nothing special.

I very much agree with March 2019 reviewer. I would add that the 2nd day showed a less tannic and more polished full-bodied wine. Solid mid-palate heft with smoked meats, dark plums, fishing with a full mouthful of currants. Finish somewhat lingering at a much lower level. Revisit late 2020

Beautiful wine- needs an hour of air. Big jammy dark fruit, big mouthful. Graphite and minerality. Only weakness is a slightly shallow finish. Tastes like a slightly flabby larkmead cab, but not in a bad way.

Big dark fruit-jammy with heat. Dusty tannins. Good in another year or so.
Great Happy Canyon representation. A little added heat and extraction vs. Napa cabs. Compares well with Dao's higher end cabs. 24.95 great QPR. Could easily have Zin blended in.

Really nice Central coast Chardonnay. Bright fruit with some acid, malolactic butterscotch, lavender, lemon zest and a little oak on the finish

Really refined. Decanted for 1.5 hours. Really nice! Big mouthful of austere dark fruit turning to minerality and muted pencil lead. Really balanced and sophisticated. High quality fruit and beautifully crafted. I would call it a Frenchman's Californian Cabernet. Priced a little higher than it should. I would pay a maximum of $150 for it.

Slightly over ripe in a good way. Nice heat that is perfectly integrated. Almost late harvest sugar amounts, but add to big structure. Very much like.

Needs more time, but if you are going to open a 2 hour decant will do this wonders. Red fruit, really austere, no sugar. Integrated tannins, solid mid palate with a smooth long finish. Perfectly paired with a rare garlic cowboy burger.

complexity.Tannins there, but way in the background like your typical Alexander Valley cab. A slightly bitter 20 second finish

Red fruit. Still way too young. Needs a 2 hour decant. Tannins very light, lacking heft. Flavor profile is big and a little sweet tartish. Somewhat uncomplicated wine, as it sits now.
Rec try in 2020.

Inky red morphing to black fruit. Minerality comes next and then focused, somewhat empty, slightly chalky finish. Needs more omph mid palate. Lacking a tannic presence, but very well done. A good version of Caymus.

I can't think of a thing I don't love in this wine. Big mouthful of crushed grapes, transitioning to a steady of explosion of plum. Sharp transition to chocolate butterscotch with deep rhubarb, pencil lead and minerality, climaxing to lingering cherry finish. Defines California Cabernet for me. Makes me go yum every time I take a sip.

Agree with other ratings. Tannic, dusty, dry, dark fruit with nice acidity. Finish lacks finesse. Bitter at the very end. Worth 40-60.

Second bottle. Really like it. Tastes vertically vs horizontal. Surprised only 13.5 % alcohol. My feeling is 14.5-15. Nice chewy dry finish with heat.

Tasted at winery. 2nd winery visited for the day. Dark layered fruit upfront, steady mouthful mid-palate, strong velvety tannins-perfectly balanced. Long, layered finish. Best Pine Ridge ever tasted. Need to revisit 2012 Fortis, though.

Best sub $50 Cabernet I've tried in the last 2 years. Well balanced, dark fruit, great mid palette, long finish, complexity. Drinking much better than 6 months ago. I would have given this a 92 last time.

A little over the top. I like the flavor profile and boldness, but I don't see the finesse. Really well made but complexity doesn't show. Up front, mid palate and finish just a continuation.

Much better second day. Complexity starting to show. Dark sweet tanin followed by anise then an expresso finish. Nice - upgraded to 91. Lay this down for a year or 2.

Nice. Tasting notes from second day... A little more acidic and smokey than I usually like in a Pinot. Nice dry finish with pretty good balance. Showing dark fruit and anise. A little on the austere side.
