med body - easy drinking - good for $50 price

The nose is light but expressive. Scents of peaches, canned cocktail fruit, fresh crushed green grapes, and light brown sugar are immediately noticeable. Inhaling deeper presents notes of hints of corn, oak, and a thin layer of caramel. For a 90 proof bourbon, the nose brings a nice amount of flavorful scents. It may not have the depth that a higher aged bourbon might deliver, or the intensity of a higher proof bourbon, but what it does deliver, it delivers extremely well.
The end result is a bourbon that delivers a flavor profile that leans on the highly drinkable side. While its 90 proof holds back some of its potential, that shouldn’t cause you to write it off, because even at 90 proof, the bourbon is full of flavor. It may not be the best bourbon in a given lineup, but what it will be is a bourbon that showcases what more craft distilleries should strive to be.

smooth, still young - needs time in a decanter - at least an hour - tennis are appropriate and soften nicely. Not Big, but rather medium with balance.
The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes long.

elegant nose; green on the palate and a little acidic - will not improve with age; medium body; short finish. you can do better for the price.

I did not find this to be over the hill, but rather a bit musty with a medium body and softened tannins. ON day two after having used nitrous. I agree with the rich stewed and toasted fruit note.

2007 Audelssa Estate Winery Summit Sonoma Valley Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
medium bodied, consistent throughout, mellow tannins, very drinkable now and can hold for a while too. This wine is no "plain Jane" but it is not a "showoff" either - a pleasant experience from the nose to the finish; well worth the price.
Red
Medium bodied, well rounded, luscious smooth, tannins but no astringency whatsoever. This one is slighly sweet, oak, ripe bing cherries on the nose and smooth on the mouth feel; finish long and should evolve nicely as the wine becomes more integrated with time.

One of a few I like to revisit. All about big and dark fruit. I get a big red cherry cola (in a good way) on the nose and a touch on the palette as well. The tannin is a touch course on the backside but certainly not astringent. The silk is thick and certainly purple fut with a more refined nose than feel. This one emanates complexities - ya gotta love that. - paired with a fillet, tannin still tough enough for a prime ribeye as well so you can go withalmost anything on this one.
White
a combination of mineral and body that meshed together beautifully (this screams a Hawaiian meal of fish with with an French/Asian influence). Interesting in that I got clean lines of a contemporary wine that blended with the old world of some roundness from a touch of butter, lemon and creme fraishe
Red
lots of not quite ripe fruit; this is a quaffer but a pretty good one for the price.
Red
opened and had a glass; reasonably heavy tannin, but because it was opened with several others, I left it until the next day; tannins softer, fruit superb; big and chewy and lots of depth - this one is really nice with years left on it - beautiful.
Red
med bodied; tannins smooth; a little short lived on the nose; nice but not over the top fruit and went well with a NY Prime strip which is why I picked it. - lighter tannins and med bodied.
Red
popped and had my usual sample - nice tannin/silk integration will let it sit for an hour definite tobacco and leather, but not strong - subtle but noticeable -
after hour or so, tannins were present but not strong - good lean filet wine at this point - lot of life left - drinking well

2001 Moulin de Duhart Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
nice Bordeaux blend with a bit of pleasant must on the opening; not overly complex - pair with simple (almost peasant french cuisine). This is certainly lighter in composition, nose, body etc and while easy drinking is not complex.
Red
great nose; light on the palate - tannins still tight and may not improve; nice light bodied pinot
Red
I have a number of these - seemed a bit out of focus for the price - will try another and comment more thoroughly

2002 Venge Vineyards Scout's Honor Napa Valley Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel (view label images)
This time around I liket the bottle . What was interesting was the grape combination of zin, petite verdot and chard and they worked together quite nicely against a backdrop of a mildly spicy dish of salmon. This wine, while not great, was interesting and certainly has its place - the pet verdot lengthens the life of the zin and therefore the wine has the characteristics of a Venge zin (a bit sweet) offset y the petite verdot which give the wine a nice niche.

popped and poured and at first it was real tight and I was surprised by this, having not read previous notes. It did open a bit over the next 2 hours, which is when it was gone but on the next go around, I will let it open for a few hours and see where she stands. My guess is that it willnot improve and though it is a wonderful wine now, the tightness will be astringency and will not mellow. I will comment on this again within 30 days or so.
Red
nice voluptuous fruit; drinks double its price
Red
nicemed to full full Aussie Shiraz; great pricepoint; drinking well now, over all a real pleasant well rounded wine with enough tannins and acid to last a good while
Red
Dark berry, smooth, finish not great; full, tannins are not over bearing but still plenty left.
Red
Ripe big berries on the front with a luscious front and did palate as well - the back in was sighly astringent thoough it had a llingering finsish agreed on the nice nose and overall a very pleasant syrah that is drinking well now

smooth, ripe, nice finish; great price point
White
lots of flavor here; a real delight for the pricepoint I get the apple and nice ripe citrus that blends nicely ; finish is solid - a gem at this price.
Red
lighter Pinot with a touch of spice; nice privce point, soft feel not real complex
Red
in reading the previous notes, I have nothing to add, except that the finish was not as long and as smooth as others have suggested. Nice, medium bodied syrah that fits the price point.

a lighter cab, as noted below but with more depth than it is given credit for - drinks more like a full bodied pinot. finish that lingers some cherry; and a touch of chocolate too. On day 2, I finished the bottle - consistent with previous notes except for the comment on the Pinot - this is a med bodied cab - taste, feel and body.

By the way, great with a salmon and red wine reduction - really a treat for the price
Red
medium bodied sangiovese, simple yet very dinkable, mellow with a touch of sweet mature fruit on the backside
Red
consistent with other notes, med to full body; let it open for about an hour for best results
Red
same comments as previous - consistent - great daily drinker!!
Red
med to full bodied pinot - not overly complex; good value
Red
I agree with all of the previous posts - a wonderful merlot that still has time, no rush as the tannins are still vibrant and the wine is maturing but by no means over the hill.

Strong tannins on the outset; this is a food wine and set against a liver lasagna with plenty of tomato base ingredients held its own and stood up to the occasion - complements nicely with the heavier tomato base - pure sangiovese and worth every penny

2006 Linne Calodo Slacker Paso Robles Red Rhone Blend (view label images)
absolutely stunning, especially for the price point; drinks like a far more expensive wine
fruit was perfect; full bodied but not over the top, this wine is consistent with the other notes that are here, the best points all wrapped into one

This wine was late Springtime in a glass - a beautiful boquet of just bloomed flowers and plent of berry to go along with it - really delicious, not quite plump dark berries yet soft. LIngering finish, This bottle went down way too easily
Red
pretty mellow full and well rounded with a tough of spice throughout and good berry a touch of sweetness but not more goo price point

As expected, the tannins were mellow, medium bodied, showing some age and should be drunk but has not declined - pair with a lean meat, like a tenderloin as this wine can be easily overpowered at this point in its life; nicely balanced - on the edge of elegant.
Red
while a bit on the thin side, this was well rounded, soft tannins, decent finish, touch of pepper - great with fish and would be overwhelmed by a heartier meat.

You have to love the "Frank Sinatra" of the tiny bubbles that marks Schramsberg. Dry, with a touch of tart apples and a nose of some ripe pair, (pairs beautifully with sauteed apple, pear and fois gras).

a complex and medium to heavy wine, this one was a study, intellectual perhaps; a a trip to Tuscany and a lingering and full sunset on the finish as well.

1983 Château Cheval Blanc St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Unfortunately, this mid shoulder fill bottle was mostly gone - nothing but a remnant of what was - too bad.

Upon opening, this medium bodied wine was not medium in feel, length or body. Slightly plump and ripe juices (plum and black cherry) young Romanesque in body, soft in features, sophistication in mind; tannins were soft to non existent. The finish lingers and lingers - a Sunday morning slumber with no snooze button - I will roll over and enjoy it over some rack of lamb - will see if I still like her this much after dinner.
-2nd time about 3 hours after opening. Consistency was the theme this round. She was open from the get-go - soft, supple and balanced the intensity of the Rack. an enduring finish to close - this one is one to bring home to Mother. Understated, yet with plenty of voice. Open the door to this one - if you can.

Pleasantly surprised with this one as it reminded me of the Wizard of Oz, not with poppies but with roses or violets or any other colorful flower that I am not thinking of -- but it matured, right before my palate and that was good as we went from spring to summer in a matter of an hour. It softened,; the grassiness gave way to lushness and everybody mellowed out a bit. The floral thing was great and putting it in a decanter was a smart move. Pleasant, rounded, flowers and a real luscious mouthful.
