Unremarkable. The nose is restrained showing metallic character with an under tone of cherry fruit and on the pallet medium tannins but no structure and barely any finish… I’ve had previous villages of this one which were much more remarkable, but I’ll pass on this one.

A beautiful showing with lovely black cherry, spice, and mocha with just a hint of earth Rich dark berries currants with a hint of black olive. A 1996 I had a few months ago had more ripe fruit, yet this 1997 is graceful and elegant. Drink now!

Darn fruit notes on the palate but reveals bright raspberry and cool notes finishing long and pleasant Plenty of depth, structure and finesse. I can’t wait to try another one in a year or two…

Lovely expression of Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon by the good folks at Rusack. It shows dark brooding fruit on the nose with Casillas, black cherry, and a little cola— with tertiary Notes of Olive and mushroom. On the pallet it’s complex, Laird and with good structure revealing dark berry flavors with a hint of earthiness. Love this wine.

On the nose is a spice, herb and pepper… On the palate a bit Tanic with a little bit of minerality acid and spice. Yes, this is a California Sangiovese say – even so, if I tasted this blind I would hard time detecting it as Sangiovese say. Better on the second day.

On the nose spice, molasses, bacon fat, and a core of dark fruit and black cherry. On the palate the tannins are still firm but good balance with welcomed acidity and spectacular flavors of mocha, baking spice, and black cherry. This still has legs and will go another five years or more. Wonderful.

Muted aromatics reveal hints of cherry, fennel, and pepper… On the palateGrippy tannings frame flavors of spice, mocha, and dried red fruit. At about 25 bucks it’s an easy drinker but probably could use another couple years of bottle age.

Does moderately priced Grenache from Ballard Canyon and the Stoffman family shows bright rainier cherry, space, and rhubarb on the nose… On the pallet there’s a bright acidity, questionably spritz– Could’ve it undergone a slight secondary fermentation on intended? – I like the acidity and the brightness but the wine is fairly single dimensional And you enjoy about the same time…

Gorgeous, bold, and finesse. This premium wine from Beckman Vineyards in Santa Ynez showed deep black cherry, boysenberry, black tea, and delivered powerful flavors with good balance and finesse of raspberry, mocha, and CHERRY. I’m sure with a few more years of bottle age this wine will evolve wonderfully.

Amazing showing among a tasting of pre-2000 California cabernets. Showed deep dark red color, with aromas of anise, black cherry, currant and a hint of spice and earth. Robust tannins and good structure deriving a long finish with plenty of dark red fruit. Kudos to Tony Soter who at the time made this wine.

The first thing I gotta say is I must’ve opened this up way too early… And I’m sorry… But if I tasted this blind there’s no way I would’ve identified this as Pinot noir or from Oregon… It was so big, bold, Tanic, and tightly wound. On the nose it showed very dark fruit, pomegranate, baking spice, perhaps black cherry. On the pallet it just didn’t evolve beyond the Tanic notes… Clearly a lot of structure but this one was robbed if it’s time.

Gorgeous Rhône blends with finesse, balance, and depth. On the nose this wine reveals dark red fruit, a hint of earthiness, and violet. It exhibits flavors of dark cherry, and anise… Open in certain glass for an hour before tasting… It needed the air!

Decanted for over an hour, very little sediment. Beautiful deep dark purple color and the stunning aromatics revealed molasses, black cheery with spicy undertones—no sign of age, thanks to perfect storage since I purchased this on release.

The silky smooth tannins folded around flavors of chocolate, ripe cherry, and a overtone of sweetness while finishing with ripe berries. Gorgeous, balanced, and with good structure. Some might be put off by the extracted sweetness, but I found everything in balance. What a great showing.

Decanted and set for thirty minutes, the 2013 Thomas Pinot Noir shows a hint of pepper on the nose with tart cranberry, lychee and space. On the palate immediately taken by the firm tannins with spice, pomegranate and tart cherry rounded by a bang of acidity and pleasant minerality finishing with tart red fruit and toast. At nine years old, this still is youthful and has legs to go another five years or more.

This wine is big and bold with plenty of dark red fruit, but it lacks finesse and seemed both awkward and backward - had hi hopes, was outclassed by Pahlmeyer, Thomas Pinot, and Denner all served at the same dinner.

Lovely and rustic this wine as the earthiness and meatiness to satisfy a French Rhône wine fan, What it lacks in aromatics it delivers in spades on the pallet with space, dried berries and medium tannins… I would decant this wine or give it a few years to let it open up. Good qpr

On opening and for the first 30 to 40 minutes this 2001 Napa beauty is vibrant with blackberries, ripe cherry and hints of dried berries… Dark red in color with a clear rim not showing any hint of it 20 years… After 40 minutes the nose evolved to dried cherry, spice, and coffee…

On the palate there is lovely and luscious fruit with cherry and pomegranate flavors dominating strong tan and still present but still drinks balanced with good structure…

In reviewing the notes here on CellarTracker I see there hasn’t been a note posted for a few years… And I disagreed with those who found this wine to be turning old…

I think storage is key… I bought this wine unreleased and it’s been perfectly stored in the cork looks pristine… Very enjoyable

I find it odd that Cellar Tracker has this valued at around $44… If I could find a case at that price I’m a buyer… Provided there is some evidence of proper storage.

Lovely notes of honey suckle, toasted almond, and not… On the palate this white roan blend from Paso Robles does show a hint of oh, not overpowering — flavors of mango, and other tropical fruits good structure I disagree with previous notes that it lacks complexity perhaps it’s because this has sat in the bottle a bit longer than previous notes… Nice offering though I wish they would put it in a more normal bottle I can’t figure out how to get it into my celler! So I decided to drink it after pushing it around for many many months!

Initially I was a denier, But this field blend from Lodi California packs a lot of punch in fruit, layers, and a good degree of complexity and structure… Totally surprised. My rating is based on the QPR but I’m sure if I tasted this in a blind tasting I would’ve put it at a $25-$30 Rich – it has a tad of acidity, good fruit and dark red notes… A great Tuesday wine at about $12… Don’t let the price for you – tell your friends you paid 30 and they’ll believe you… Because I’ve had wines in that range that don’t even come close to this one.

Amazed to find one of these bottles tucked away in my seller. The year 2000 was a difficult vintage, but the good folks at Arrowood seem to have managed to make a WINE that survives time. Not overly aromatic, the wine shows cans of dried cherry, Sage, bitter sweet chocolate, and just a tad of earthiness… I would’ve expected much more… The wine as smooth as silk, the tannins are totally resolved, And on the pallet it’s in perfect balance explosion of fruit in the mid pallet and a beautiful long finish… I would never guess this to be a 21 year old wine —We don’t have that classic cedar, tobacco, earth — but I wouldn’t let this wine sit much more than the next two or three years… Wonderful, thank you Arrowood I am totally impressed — seems like a good value if you can find any of these bottles you won’t be disappointed.

Thin, one dimensional, fruity, certainly not inspired… Purchase at Costco for around 20 bucks… Which is too much… Here on seller tracker says average price is about $34 which is insane for this level of quality of wine… I had hoped given the Pedegree of the estate and nice valley Appalachian That I’d be surprised… But like often when purchasing winds of unknown origin (producers) it’s like a minefield, every once in a while you hit a home run and that Saturday with this one I struck out.

Enjoyed this tasty wine with slow cooked short ribs, a righteous pairing. On the nose deep notes of dark chocolate, marzipan, rich dark cherry, cassis, and the hint of baking space. On the pallet a huge burst mid palate with firm but well integrated tannins finishing with vanilla, chocolate, and coconut cream berry pie. Lovely (decanted one hour).

Consistent with my previous note… A Merlot made from Sonoma county in a style that respects the varietal qualities of Merlot.
