Nice sipper
First time with this wine
Not the fruit forward oak bomb I was anticipating
Curious notes of flat cola
Hint of spice on the finish
Went well with a pork roast

Drank with the 2012 Escarpa
Incredibly feminine and silky
Doesn't give up much on the nose
Palate is tasty but a hint lean
Finishes longer than the Escarpa
Probably great with fish (light enough for even sushi)
Both excellent bottles, just depends on what you're in the mood for

Opened together with the 2012 Hellenthal
Smokey, meatier with more flavor
Probably has the legs to age better than the Hellenthal
Clipped finish

Pineapple and slight butter nose
Tart citrus on the palate
Long buttery finish
Almost flabby but with wonderful flavors that work well with sushi

opened, decanted and first notes after an hour
heavy alcohol present on the nose and initial taste
syrupy, just short of goppy, yet a hint of spritz
tannic finish, cotton balls after about twenty seconds with a finish that lasts, but is still marred by the sponge-like tannins
Perhaps someone's grandchildren will be bewildered

opened, decanted and drunk immediately over three hours
served with tenderloin, mushroom risotto and Brussels sprouts
moderate orange bricking on sides
gorgeous and heavy nose of classic tar and roses throughout the evening
palate is less dominate
nice harmony between acidity and balance
drinking charmingly now, but there is definite life left
would buy again, especially under $50
Red
Drunk along with a 2011 Black Kite River Turn
Softer, more feminine, strawberry and light red fruits
Acidity for days
Delicious on its own
Red
Drunk along with a 2011 Failla Hirsch
Meatier, incense, x-mas spice, forest floor without being marred with brett
Rougher tannins
Long finish
Tasty with food
Undeniably good juice which should age well

apples, apples and more apples on the initial pour
opens over time to show nice minerality and acidity
delicious with poached salmon and thyme risotto
lithe, angular
prefer the Peter Martin Ray

Magnum, purchased directly from Copain via mailing list
Sweet cherry on open with incredible acidity that lingers, watering the mouth, glycerin legs running down the glass
After three hours opened, tannins and acidity are in balance, but where is the fruit?
No pepper, no olive, no funk
Alcohol on the nose clouds the bouquet
Has the structure for old bones, but perhaps not the fruit
Sadly, a bit boring

tasted along side a 2011 Ceritas Heintz
fragrant nose of pear and apple
more angular on the palate than the Ceritas
crisper, leaner
not as long a finish

drank along side a 2010 Peay Sonoma Coast
clearer in the glass than the Peay

Pop 'n pour - good God, what a hot, alcoholic mess - searing acidity
Not to b drunk wo at least 20 hr aeration
Day 2, elements of a serious Cali cab appear, including a wonderfully sweet finish
Day 3, fading
Love Jeff's style and think this piece could hold for 20 years

8 hr decant - delicious - anise on first sip, with cinnamon going down - silky and voluptuous - only a bit of heat on the finish makes it less than excellent - paired with chicken and steak kabobs

Fresh, bright with some stone fruit underneath - didn't notice the oak or vanilla - not terribly complex, but nicely drinkable if not a bit flat - doubt that time will improve this piece

still plenty of fruit and acidity for an 8 yr old pinot - high alcohol (14.8, per bottle) evident - tertiary flavors of sage and underbrush lurk beneath a plum and cherry core - alcohol blew off after an hour in decanter - very tasty

Drank out of wine glasses rather than flutes and not too chilled on wine seller's suggestion - lemon, butter, all the chardonnay flavors shining thru with a fine mousse - while not a knock your socks off piece, it paired very well with the many artistic dishes at EL Restaurant - nice value at $70
