Double decanted, tasting notes on day 2. Garnet color. Nose of dark cherry, spices and tobacco. Full-bodied and we’ll-structured with rich, complex flavors of cherries, herbs and some oak. Surprisingly long finish. Probably will not improve with more age; I plan to drink my last bottle within a year.

I agree with MYOFIN. This is far over the hill. Not much fruit left and quite bland.

Decanted, no sediment, drank most and poured remainder back in bottle. Notes from day two. Bright ruby color. Lovely nose of strawberries and raspberries. Rich, almost jammy, red fruit and black peppers on the medium-to-full- bodied palate. Well structured by lively acids and soft tannins. Finish is quite long, with the 16.5% alcohol not being evident. A very good QPR at $36.

Decanted two hours, no sediment. Bright ruby color. Black cherries, leather and balsalm on the nose. Full-bodied dark fruit on a well-structured palate. Tannins are quite prominent at this point and the wine will benefit from more age.

Moderate sediment. Decanted and rebottled three hours later. Notes taken on day two. Bright crimson color to the edges. Lovely nose of cherries, roses and cedar. Lively on the medium-bodied palate with flavors of cherries, strawberries, and licorice, and balanced by fine tannins. Medium-length finish. Overall, a delightful wine with a reasonable QPR at $50/bottle.

Double decanted; notes on day two. Clear deep ruby color. Black cherry, spices and a bit of earthiness on the nose. Lush and jammy cherries, plum, vanilla and cracked pepper on the palate. The finish is quite long, but with some heat. Should be drinking well for at least three years or more.

Double decanted; tasting notes from day two. Clear deep ruby color. Black cherry, spices and a bit of earthiness on the nose. Lush and jammy cherries, plum, vanilla and cracked pepper on the palate. The finish is quite long with just a little heat which doesn't really distract from what is otherwise a stellar wine. Should be drinking well for at least three years or more.

Ullage 6 cm. Cork completely stained and broke upon extraction. Decanted; heavy sediment. Amber color. Nose of mint and strawberries. The light-bodied taste is consistent with the nose, has lively acids and minimal tannins. Overall, this was a very pleasant surprise given the poor fill level and amber color. This was part of an acquired cellar of several hundred bottles of 30-50 year old Burgundy and Bordeaux that I put up for auction. This bottle couldn't be auctioned due to the ullage, and I had expected the worst.

Light straw color. Floral apple nose. Creamy apricot with some sweetness on the palate. Nice, lingering finish. If you’re looking for a classic Cali chard, this is a good choice, but I’m not a big fan of this style.

Decanted for several hours, took a taste and poured back in the bottle to wait for day two, when it was improved. Medium brick red color with browning at edges. Lovely nose of cherries, licorice and leather. Light-to-medium bodied red fruit on the palate with good acids and light tannins. A pleasant wine, but lacking complexity. I’ll be surprised if this further improves with age, but it should drink well for another five years or so. At $40, a reasonable QPR.

Double decanted; minimal sediment. Notes from day two. Light bright ruby color. Classic nose of tar and roses, but I believe it was more pronounced on day one. Light-to-medium bodied palate with tart cherries, ample acids and smooth tannins. Medium length finish. A pleasant, but not exciting wine, consistent with its $50 price.

Decanted for two hours; light sediment. Deep, but clear, ruby red color. Bold nose of blueberries and other dark fruit. Quite full-bodied, intense and complex dark berry flavors with lively acids. Finish goes on forever, but with some heat. Almost like a port, although without the sweetness. Probably will not further improve with age, but should drink well for at least five more years.

What a delightful surprise. From a batch being put up for auction, this bottle was culled because the foil was broken and there was seepage. Bottle was too dark to determine fill level. Extracted the crumbling cork with a Durand and decanted for two hours. Color was a light orange, reminding me more of a sherry, and giving me more cause to worry. However, the nose was floral, fragrant and elegant. Rich, sweet mouth coating of luscious figs, raisins, red cherries and orange peel. Great balance, and the finish goes on forever.

Cork stained about half way up. Decanted for two hours; light-to-moderate sediment. Deep ruby color. Notes of blueberries, blackberries, mocha, and vanilla on the nose. Double decanted; minor sediment. Couldn't take notes until day three. Deep, but clear, red color. Lovely nose of blackberries, cherries, vanilla and spices. Rich, lush mouthfeel of jammy, dark fruit and oak. Finishes with some heat, but also a big smile on my face. As is generally the case with Molly Dooker, there is nothing subtle about this wine. It is a big fruit bomb that you either love or hate. I rather like it.

Decanted for a couple of hours; very light sediment. Drank half a bottle but failed to take notes and returned the wine to the bottle. Day two: Bright medium garnet color. Lovely nose of red fruits, vanilla and herbs, Medium-bodied with red cherries and spices, grainy tannins and bright acids. Medium-to-long finish that persists with the fruit being dominant. Good QPR at under $40, and should drink well for another 5-10 years.

Cork broke on extraction and was stained about 0.5 inch. Decanted for an hour; light sediment... surprisingly light for a 26 year old wine. Bright ruby red color to the rim, appearing like a much younger wine. Lovely nose of mint, chocolate and herbs. Full bodied, nearly jammy blackberries and plums on the palate, well structured by acids and soft tannins. Pleasing finish of about 30 seconds. I plan to drink my last two bottles over the next couple of years, but I suspect this wine will be drinking well far longer.

Quite full-bodied palate of oak, dark fruits and coffee with lively acids and soft tannins. A medium-to-long finish. I'm guessing this wine will further improve over the next few years, and at $25/bottle, it has a good QPR.

diarkin_dc states in his tasting note of only two days ago exactly my sentiment. There is something seriously off about my bottle. It wasn't corked, but it was thin and medicinal. I can't think of any food or circumstance that would fit this this swill. Perhaps a barrel was somehow contaminated prior to bottling, or maybe something went wrong during the bottling process. I acquired 6 bottles from WineAccess in January 2015, and this was the first I opened. I'm pouring out the current bottle, and I'll try another bottle in a year or so.

Decanted a magnum for two hours; very light sediment. Deep ruby red color with some bricking. A lovely nose of chocolate, raisins, cherries and vanilla. Luscious dark fruit gives a velvety mouth feel; jammy, full-bodied with good acidity and soft tannins. The finish goes on for ever... I want to take another sip before the first goes away. I would guess this wine should drink well for another 7-10 years. All in all, a great Amarone.

Decanted for six hours (very light sediment), very deep ruby color. Tasted one glass, decided it needed more time and returned to bottle. It was significantly improved on day two with a big nose of cherry bubble-gum, vanilla and spices. The palate is jammy and full-bodied with black cherry, other dark fruits, menthol and a hint of heat. A short-to-medium length finish.

Well structures and good mouth feel. The finish lasts nearly a minute. This is the first bottle of a case bought ten years ago, and I'm expecting the other eleven to last nicely over my planned ten-year drinking window

The medium length fruity finish would be even nicer were it not for a bit of heat. Will probably improve with some more age.

Fill 6 cm down. The very short cork was completely soaked from end to end, but using a Durand opener, I was able to extract it intact. Surprisingly dark amber color. Powerful spicy nose. Lucious creamy caramel in the mouth with a finish that won’t quit. Fifty years old, and while I won’t be around to see it, I’m guessing it’ll still be great 50 years from now if the cork is replaced.
