Second bottle of this in the week, the first was corked - a huge disappointment. This bottle was decanted about an hour and half. Tasted throughout that time and the wine clearly getting better with time and air. After 2 hours it was at its peak and remained as such for another hour and half to two hours. Still somewhat youthful, I would suggest leaving it for another year or two. Typical DA - stain your teeth black fruit, thick, velvet on the tongue. Starts out a little hot but nicely recedes into the background. Strong nose. Lengthy finish. I very much enjoy DA wines and this one does not disappoint.

Decatned a half hour. Full of big bold black berries both on the nose and palate. Perhaps a slight raisiny touch. Nice tannins that last for quite a while. Medium to long finish. A lack of pepper/spice that I prefer in a shiraz but even without that, this is a very nice wine. The fruit is huge. Served with a rib eye steak, sweet potatoes roasted in cumin and other spices, caesar salad and a some baguette. Not quite 'outstanding' as per CT scale, but close.

Decanted 1.25 hours. Served with rib eye, caesar salad and parmasean bread. This was my first KB and I was expecting more. This is a good wine, but I was expecting a 'wow' moment. Good body, but a little lighter than I expected from reading other reviews. Aromas at first had hints of red berries and an earthy aromoa. As time went buy the earthiness blew off and the fruit remained with more of a black cherry aroma. Good mouth feel, smooth, velvety. Was a little 'hot' at first but again settled nicely. A good wine, glad I had it, but not worth the price I paid for it, but would be worth the release price.

Increadibly dark. Extremely smooth mouth feel, almost velet. Huge black fruit on the nose. Medium to long finish. Blackberries, currant and a little mocha. I do not understand how WS could gie this wine an 83. I realize that WS gave this vintage in Napa a poor rating, but this is simply a very good wine. I think WS missed the boat on this one.

decanted for an hour and a half. Nice blackberry aromas. Very soft, but bold = velvet feel on the palate. Not a lot of spice, medium tannins. Seemed to go a little 'flat' as time went by - drant over 2.5 hours. Good wine, but admittedly I was expecting a little more.

Took about a half hour or so for the initial funk to blow off. Once this occurred, aromas of cherry, smells a little heat and clove. Medium to full bodied, a long tannic finish. A little vanilla and smoke on the taste with red fruit also - raspberry. I would buy it again.

Extremely golden in appearance - apple juice. Buterscotch, velvety. Maybe slightly past its prime, drink now.

Had it with a bean and sausage casserole. Very dark in appearance, almost black. Popped and poured. Not alot on the nose - hints of cherry. Slight tannins. A little clove, black currant, every so slightly sour. This wine may be passed its prime if it every had a prime.

Seems to be losing some of its fruit to me, but my wife still loved it. I really like this chard. Floral, some oak but not overwhelming. I could drink this every night!!

Disappointing. Have really enjoyed this wine in the past. No fruit at all in this bottle. Big alchohol. No finish. It was like drinking rubbing alcohol. One bottle left in the cellar for which I have much higher hopes.

short note - I can see why WS gave this a 96. This is a tremendous wine and will get even better with a few more years of aging.

Decanted 3 hours. Lean. Aroma has a faint green pepper note to it that I do not enjoy. Green pepper is also present on the finish. Still quite tannic. Strawberries. Overall, given the hype around this wine, I am disappointed. I still have 4 more 2004 and 6 x 2006. Here's hoping it gets better. I will pop an 06 prior to the next relase, if it is not a marked improvement over the 04, I will not buy it again.

Had this bottle to toast the passing of Robert Mondavi (only bottle of his we had). Decanted for 3 hours. The nose was very floral. clearl BDX blend, lean but elegant. Red berries, hint of chocolate. Thanks RM for your love of wine and your influence on me in enjoying this past time. 90-91 pts.

Light, fruity aroma. Tropical on the nose - pineapple. Nice citrus finish, lemon, lime. A good QPR riesling. Had it with a indonesian chicken satay and the wine nicely complimented the spice of the food.

Decanted three hours. Very impressive inky colour. Aromoas of dry figs, plums and licorce. Some tannins - not as much as I had anticipated. Raspberry, cherries and oak on the palate. Medium finish. A good wine but I expected more out of this wine.

Cherry aromas. Opened up very nicely after a few hours decanted. Slight spice and slight tannins. Not a heavy wine whiis what we like in our Riojas. Slight sour taste but surprisingly not unpleasant, seems to fit - never thought I would write that!!

This wine was nothing special - a pizza wine for sure. The Monastrell grape has bit of sweetness to it, reminds me somewhat of Zin.75 - 78 is appropriate.

Very nice berry aromas also a hint of vanilla.Decanted 1.5 hours/ Leslie agreed with previous poster about a slight bitter finish - I did not share this view. For such a dark wine, it is somewhat light, few tanins. A good wine for its price point.

Very light- too light. Some citrus/grapefruit characteristics. No depth at all. and perhaps the curry overwhelmed it somewhat.

A basic good value everyday wine. Slight tanins. Can certainly see the oak influsence in this wine.

Not impressed at first. After it was decanted for a few hours it offered a good value typical bold Cab experience.
