Having this for 8 years untouched in my cellar, I could no longer resist the temptation and decided to open it!
Just wow! Grapes: 80% Aglianico , 20% Piedirosso. Color: very dark with some evolution. Very complex nose: plum, black cherries, cassis, black olive tapenade, tobacco, smoke, oak, game, leather, pepper, volcanic earth, ash, graphite, very - very mineral. I could smell this all evening. Mouth: starts with fruit followed by beautiful acidity and then all black fruits with very mineral impression and then the tannins kick you in the face. You can almost taste the volcanic soil. Very full bodied but not over the top, medium+ acidity, massive tannins, very long (35 seconds). This wine has multiple layers and is incredibly structured. This wine is very young but I did not regret opening one. What a luxury wine this is - now I understand why this is one of Italy's cult producers! Very terroir driven wine! Considering the quality, this sells for a very fair price. You need to try this! Drink 2019-2032. 95+ pt.

Color: pale cherry red, visible evolution. Nose: very floral nose with all red fruits: red berries, strawberries and raspberry - also some minerality and spice. Mouth: sweet red fruits, some white pepper, integrated tannins but could use some more acidity. Medium body, Medium- acidity, Medium tannins, 8 sec finish. A bit on the sweet side for my palette but nevertheless an elegant, balanced and very good QPR wine. Wine is much better on day 2! Drink now - 90 pt.

10/25/18, 11:47 AM - Interesting and good point! I meant that the wine is already very drinkable but it was a pop and pour wine. Probably should have decanted it for a few hours. The wine will be more 'open' from the start in maybe 1 or 2 years so I agree with your comment. This wine will last for many more years.

closed down / felt oaky cloaked on days one and two, better on day three but not superb... I bought 1.5 cases so I hope this is simply in a closed / dumb phase... didn't have the lift I saw in the '08 vintage when buying it back in the early 2010's

Nose: lots of cedar wood, very floral, leather, red fruits (cherries), spices, some heat - very complex. Mouth: massive (ripe) tannins, full bodied, red fruits and leather - medium+ acidity and long finish, excellent structure. This wine is definitely NOT ready to drink! Some more years are required to integrate everything - but the quality is there! Next bottle in 3-5 years (2021-2023). Delicious! 94 pt

8/19/18, 11:44 AM - I double decanted the wine for about 1 hour. There was no sediment in the bottle. Also, I drank the wine slightly chilled (around 17 - 18 celsius).
