Good older Bordeaux probably slightly past its prime. Dwarfed by the '82 Figeac tasted two days later.

Get some of this for easy drinking by the pool. Enough structure to hold up to food.

Big wine that needs some decanting or glass time after opening. Great value and drinking wonderfully now.

This is outstanding stuff - a tick below the very top of the heap (vintage Krug, Cristal). Paid $120/bottle and that is a good deal.

Was good but not great. For me, the loss in oomph in a champagne this old was not made up for with depth or unique flavor. I'd go with MV Krug any day over this (though it was cool to drink '82 Champagne as part of an '82 themed dinner party).

Drank for our Mirman "Paris 1982" dinner and it was fantastic. Strong notes of apple and pineapple and a nice long finish. Not quite the depth of Yquem but at 1/5th the price, a wonderful wine.

I bought it at an auction on a whim and, maybe it was good at some point, but by last year it had gone bad. Oh well, 1966 was a long time ago...

Great red fruits and crisp. Surprisingly good with food. Reinforces how good a deal this stuff is for the price every time we have it - time to order more!

Stunning Wine. Decanted for 3 hours and served with a variety of foods (trailing end of the main course through chocolate). Am on the lookout for more. Amazing nose from the moment it hit the decanter to when it was consumed. Incredible balance.

Best nose of any wine I've ever had - could have lived in the aromas. Probably has years left but amazing now. Worth $400 - 500/bottle if you can find some. The only bottle I had (gift from John Fennebresque of Charlotte, NC in 2002).

Drank on Christmas Eve with the family. Even coming from the big bottle, it was probably past its prime (should have had last year but did not because of the fire!). Big bottles still do make quite a statement!

Thought that the second bottle was marginally better even - did not decant this time - just opened and consumed - with JAC at the office.

Consumed first of 2 bottles have had since 2001. Very good cab but not outstanding. Decanted but only had 30 min to sit - probably could have used a little longer. More of a Bordeaux style than a big, forward California Cab.

Very, very good Pinot. Enjoyed on two occasions - excellent both times. Aroma: Cherries with vanilla, and light oak. The taste was somewhat muted cherry fruit flavors and a bright finish. Drink now!

Not bad. Consumed after a '01 Sanford Pinot which was preferred by all in the group - probably for it's more fruit and less earthy characteristics.

Very good wine. Decanted for over an hour and it got better and better. A wonderful nose of ripe fruit that you could smell across the table. Powerful and concentrated wine but the nose was the star. Glad I have another bottle to wait on.

Thougt it was excellent and could probably have waited even longer to drink. Have had 10 years since buying back in '99. Sister Lisa (a wine importer) loved it - said would have given it 94 points. Very balanced, not overly tanic - a great match for prime burgers. Decanted for about an hour but was not noticably better as a result. My only "criticism" was the short(ish) finish.

Second bottle - same as the first - Very good Pinot enjoyed by all at a meeting. Did not seem to be fading (as the tasting window would suggest). Agree that it was a bit more reserved but I liked it.

The tasting window had technically passed but this was still pretty darn good. Its an older wine so the spice has mellowed - had it with some pretty strong flavored foods and it may have been overpowered. Overall, a good wine and I'm glad I waited for a while. Patrons at our dinner liked it very much.

Opened with apps at our neighborhood BBQ. Well received by the masses but I would say it was "fine" - easy to drink, did not offend with any of about 12 different types of food and 10 people consumed it quickly.

Not a good situation when the hope is that the bottle was flawed as I have one left. If #2 is as undrinkable, I will revise my review.

Agree with another reviewer - I did not finish the bottle the first night, vacu-vin sealed it and came back the next day to possibly a better wine! Still amazing for < $30!
