Kind of a basic bitch. Especially for the infamous 2005 vintage. Tannins nicely resolved. Color still great, limited bricking. Just kind of flat. Cheers!

The 2003’s, for what they are, are drinking about as well as they can I think. For the difficult vintage, they’ve reached peak in my opinion. Quite a bit of oak and cigar box on the nose, with a hint of dried fruit and plum. The palette isn’t as exciting. The tannins are still very much present, which is nice. Giving it some body and weight. With that being said, they’re nicely integrated and resolved. Some ripe cherry and strawberry with the rest of it being tertiary flavors. Mainly mushroom. Drink up!

The 2003 Bordeaux’s are odd. A hot vintage as I’ve come to understand. This wine is young as all get out. If I were tasting blind, I would’ve guessed 2011 or 2012. So much structure and tannin still. This wine will easily go for another decade. The color is purple with a hint if bricking on the edges. The slightest raisin character on the palate.

Awesome nose. Sweet apple, cherry, smoked meat. On the palate tremendous acidity, smooth but youthful tannins, withherry pie for days. Excellent QPR.

Needed a good 2-3 hour decant. Plenty of oak. Ripe strawberry on the palate.

The color is insane. Black and inky. So dark. Very floral on the nose. Tannins are starting to integrate well. Went well with my ribeye.

Still has some youth to it. Tannins are still very present. Agree with the comment below that it is Bordeaux like. Pencil shavings, cigar box, forest floor. Has a cedar chest old car smell that I enjoy. Not a ton of fruit left on the palate, but it hasn’t gone completely tertiary. Dark fruit for sure of what’s left. Enjoyable with my ribeye. Enjoy!

Beautiful. Bacon fat on the nose and palate. Surprisingly strong tannins still. Fruit still there but a nice mix of that and the tertiary notes coming through. Dried fruit and candy on the backend. Lots of years ahead on this, but drinking about where I like them…still fruit, bust starting to subside, with integrated tannins.

This was beautiful with my wagyu ribeye tonight. Bright acidity with some oak at first, but opened up to some secondary notes after about an hour. Well integrated and starting to show some age. Very smooth and lush. Decent QPR.

Out of magnum, nose was better than palate. Nose was candy like, leaning toward strawberry. Palate was unbalanced, fairly acidic with minimal finish. Definitely past it’s prime but still drinkable. Paired well with our lamb chops. Could’ve been worse for a 37 year old wine.

This is drinking beautifully. The nose is full on tertiary with mushrooms and forest floor. The palate is a little different than the nose in that it is much more fruit forward. The color is still very purple, which leads me to believe it is in a good window between the nose, palate and color. Depending of course that you like aged wine. Chocolate on the palate along with creme brûlée, black berry, cigar box and cedar. I haven’t had a 98+ wine that I’m aware of, but I can’t imagine it getting much better than this. How do we know what a 99-100 point wine is? I need to get my hands on a first growth. In the end, glad I popped this when I did. A fantastic combination of earth and fruit.

This was an absolute treasure tonight. Eucalyptus to the nines. A hint of mint. With some bacon and smoke mixed in. Not as earthy as some 90’s cabs have been for me, but I enjoyed it tremendously. Dunn has quickly become a favorite of mine. I HIGHLY recommend Dunn to anyone dipping their toe in aged Napa Cabs. This was from a 1.5 liter bottle with the cork and color perfect. The wax seal was a beast to remove. Prepare for a mess.

Beautiful golden color. Stereotypical SB on the nose. Grassy, green apple, etc. The palate is much more interesting. Coats the tongue like a Chardonnay can. Has some Riesling-like qualities. Easy drinking. Wants food with it. Delicious.

For 20 years old this is still incredibly youthful. Still quite a bit of tannins, but nicely integrated. Pencil shavings, cigar box, sour cherries. Went well with my steak. Can’t wait to see how my 2016’s develop over time.

Enjoyed with family on a sunny Iowa day. Grilled ribeyes. Decanted for an hour. Very smooth. Cedar and compost on the nose. Very woody and forest floor like. Decent finish, but falls off a cliff. Cherry and other stone fruit on the palate.

Beautiful showing. Late Mother’s Day dinner at Fleming’s. The acidity and tannins balanced each other perfectly. I can’t imagine this getting any better at this point. Leather, smoke and tobacco were very forward. With raspberry and compost taking up the tertiary. Truly a beautiful experience. Opened up beautifully as the hours went on. Drink now if you have it.

The blueberry note below is on point. Just gobs and gobs of blueberry. This is drinking tremendously right now. The structure and balance is on point. There are tannins left to give it body, but glides across your palate with ease. Acidity is on the higher end but not obscene. Finish is somewhat short, but that could be because I am having with food. If stored properly, this should be a winner.

Fruitier and juicer than I anticipated. Color is more than of Cabernet than Rioja. Most Rioja I’ve had is lighter in color with dusty tannins, and very vegetal. This was way different in a good way. Definitely had the old world minerality I love. Very balanced on the palate with refined tannins and acidity. Good now but also could hold for another 10 years or more.

Bruised apple and popcorn on the nose. On the palate, bright acidity but buttery at the same time. A great mouth feel that coats everything. A really nice golden straw color. Got better as the night went on and the wine came up in temperature. A fantastic value in my opinion at $30. Glad I picked up three bottles. Plan on keeping the other two for several years to see how they evolve in the cellar.

Amazing how youthful this is at 29 years old. Fruit forward still. Overripe strawberries and raspberries on the nose, with some black soil and rich compost. Mushrooms on both nose and palate, but again a lot of fruit still. Also some baking spice. The tannins are still very present, yet soft and supple. I popped this thinking it could be at or past peak. I am sorely mistaken. This could go another 5-8 years. So glad I took the plunge and bought a couple old bottles. Cork was in perfect condition.

Fairly high acidity. Sour cherries.
Green and lush on the nose. Mushrooms, oak and vanilla.
Smooth on the palate. Definitely smoothed out with the age on it. A nice deep garnet color with a hint of bricking. Alcohol is on point. Could probably go another 6-8 years.

Enjoyed with a ribeye. Decanted for two hours.

Red fruit on the nose, as well as some mocha and cigar box.

The palate is fairly uninteresting. Smooth, not a ton of structure. Seems to have flattened out a bit with the decant.

Pure Malbec on the nose. I get that Malbec skunk that’s all too common. I enjoy it. Others may not. Beautiful mouth feel and viscosity. Smooth and balanced with a good amount of tannin. Blue fruit and cassis on the palate with some potpourri dashed in. Great wine to share with family.

This is a huge bang for your buck wine. At $20, it should be in your rotation. The color alone is worth the price of admission. Just a fantastic violet that literally made me “wow” when it was poured out of the bottle into the decanter.

The nose is very floral, with a hint of skunk. Not in a bad way, very subtle and unique. I kind of enjoyed it actually. The gravel of the terroir is there to meet you as well.

To round it all out, the same violet in color and floral in nose was there to awaken your palate. Absolutely fantastic rose and dark fruit. That typical Malbec pepper with a nice firm, dusty tannin. After a one hour decant, the tannins subsided a bit and formed a really great structure. A fair bit of acidity, but held up well and was pleasant. Would be exceptional with lamb or beef.

Hardcore blueberry on the nose. Just velvety smooth blackberry. It’s also kind of floral. Doesn’t smell like a Pinot to me. Doesn’t have any of that earthy, wet grass to it. Fairly acidic on the palate, but not in a harsh way, and the same berry on the nose is there to greet you on the palate. Luscious blueberry cobbler with soft tannins. An excellent wine for the value.

The nose wasn’t over whelming or really there for us tonight. Sour cherries on the palate, smooth and soft tannins. Along with cigar box and tobacco leaf. I was getting some minerality or metallic on the finish. Kind of unpleasant but not horrible. Was a good wine to share with family on Christmas night.

A perfect Monday night wine. Silky in the mouth and very easy drinking. Soft tannins. Red Berry on the palate. Not a ton to offer on the nose, pretty subdued. Again, an easy drinker for a night on the couch with Netflix.

Smooth in the mouth. Moderate tannin. Pretty typical Cabernet on the nose and palate. Feels like it has the potential to be special in a couple years. Leather, dark fruit and rose petal.
