I'll admit - I bought this wine because it was the #1 2008 for Wine Spectator. I'm glad I did and that I have a couple of bottles left. It's an amazing wine. Black currant, creme de cassis, a hint of graphite and some fig. An amazing wine to end the weekend.

Wow - compared to the previous Cellartracker notes on this - I was amazed at how nice this is showing right now. Old school Napa cab - Very dark purple in color. Black currant, dark cherry, with a hint of tobacco on the nose and palate. Creme de Cassis lingers. It got better and better before we realized that my wife and I had drank the whole bottle... I'm glad that I have a couple of more and a magnum...

This is a very dense, elegant wine. It is dark purple/red in color. Notes of cherry and dark fruit on the nose. Vanilla and oak predominate on the palate, but the wine continues to open up in the glass. Each sip is quite good. Paired with a creamy tomato chicken pasta dish we made at home. I think that this will continue to get better over the next few years. It requires some air at present to really show.

Wow, beautiful spicey tempranillo! Mineral notes, black fruit predominates. Evolved beautifully in the glass and stayed quite nice in the bottle to be consumed on the second night. Wonderful nose of pencil lead and spice. Absolutely loved this wine!

Turley 2009 Cedarman Zinfandel for the 4th of July, what could be better? Toasted blackberry jam on the nose. The first sip was a continuation of that. It quickly evolved with leather, smoke and a hint of spice. It continued to evolve in the glass while the burgers and corn on the grill finished. It finished with some licorice and pepper. This was a hit at the party we had. It's my only bottle of 2009 Cedarman, but I'm glad it's not my only Turley!

This was decanted for 2 hours before the first taste. Inky purple in color with a nose of creme de cassis and blackberry with a hint of plum. The mouthfeel is incredible, velvety smooth. The tannins are smooth and the taste just lingers on the palate. Red raspberry and currants on the palate. The finish just lingers, ok I know I already said that but it does... Very well balanced. I'm definitely looking forward to the remaining bottles in my cellar.

It seems that this is my go to wine for Thanksgiving. As I went to enter the note today I noticed I drank it last Thanksgiving too. I think that the wine has evolved nicely over the last year. Dark red in color - with cherries and raspberries on the nose. The palate showed some pepper and earth notes. The tannins are in a good place - very lush mouthfeel. It ended with hints of menthol and the raspberries again. It went well with the Habanero smoked turkey breast, green beans and mashed potatoes.

Wow - what an incredible bottle of wine... The nose is very enticing. Cherry, blackberry aromas waft out of the glass. The first taste is pure liquid joy. Currants and creme de cassis explode onto my tongue as I sip. It is velvety smooth at the moment with very refined tannins. Great long finish with a hint of pencil lead. I regret only having one bottle... I can't imagine this getting better with bottle age - but I'd sure like to try another in a few years....

I drank this over a few nights - Saved each night in my Eurocave Sowine. A very nicely balanced wine that improved with age. It showed smoke, vanilla and expresso on the first night with some tart tannins. The second night it had mellowed nicely with blackberry notes. The final night (actually the 4th since opening) it was in an incredible place. It was smooth, silky, notes of creme de cassis, blackberry and some licorice. A very nice wine.

Seemed closed down at first - opened up in the glass and the decanter after a few hours. Raspberries, Dark Cherry, and some licorice predominate. A very nice mouthfeel - not over the top - but just right. The second night brought out more vanilla and creme de cassis. This bottle may have been slightly off, or the wine is a little closed down at the moment. Overall very good, but I wanted great....

Deep ruby in color. Very enticing nose - of vanilla and creme de cassis. The tannins are well integrated and it was quite smooth on the palate. I noticed some leather and pencil shavings as the evening progressed. The second night the bottle was continuing to shine, showing some mocha and dark cherry. Just a wonderful cab. I'm glad I have one more - but sorry I only have one more.

Tasted at the release party. First sparkling wine produced by Ravines. Very nice mouth feel. Nutty, mildy spicy with a slight twist of lemon. It will be interesting do try this again over the course of time as it gets more bottle age on it. I was very glad to have tasted the inaugural vintage of this wine at release. It is a very nice addition to the Ravines cellars - and a nice addition to the Finger Lakes. 130 cases produced.

Wow - this is another great Cab. The nose is Creme de Cassis, vanilla and blackberry. Rich black cherry, dark chocolate, graphite and plum predominate on the palate. This is only the 2nd EMH that I have drank and I am falling in love. While I have listened to the kudos being reaped upon Merrill, I didn't partake until the last Berserkerday. I'm glad I did. This is an extremely tasty cab. I look forward to drinking the rest of my EMH collection.

Very nice cabernet. Dark red in the glass with a nose of blackberries, leather and violet. The taste is slightly subdued with dark chocolate, blackberry and tobacco. The tannins were really well integrated in this. I wanted more from the glass, the aroma was sublime, the taste on the pallet a little lacking. Overall very good and I'm glad I have more.

Drank this Sunday night at Smith and Wollensky in DC. Violet and tobacco on the nose. Dark reddish purple in color. The cork was in excellent condition. There are hints of leather, plum, tobacco on the palate. Very enticing. It was savored over a nice bone in filet. The wine gained an expressiveness over the evening in the decanter. More and more aromatics were noted to reveal some chocolate mixed in. This was a nice surprise to have held up so well.

This was a pop and pour with dinner. Nose of berries and creme de cassis. Dark red fruit on the palate. There are big tannins present, but well balanced with the acidity of the wine. A nice lingering mouth feel of mint, tobacco and chocolate complete the effect. This is a great value for the price. Medium bodied, tannins are quite smooth and integrated. blackberry and creme de cassis are noted. This improved over the course of an hour in the glass, but it was hard letting it linger as it was quite good. Enjoy now with some decanting!

Still very young. Popped and poured initially. I noted black cherry and some cassis on the nose. The tastes were black cherry, plum and some chocolate. I drank some on the first day and then drank the rest on day 3. It was stored in my Sowine over the weekend. It was opened up nicely. Cassis, leather, chocolate and black cherry exploded on the palate. I still think that this could use a few more years, so I'll wait to open my last 2 bottles. This was an excellent Berserkerday buy!

Very nice wine - bought from a local store that seems to have an abundance of the 2006. It was on sale for $19.99. Cherries and blackberries on the nose. Tannins are still quite prominent, but integrated well. This is a very nice wine for the price. The finish is quite nice, the cabernet is quite prominent - I don't think that this can cellar much longer, but it's very good right now. The tannins sort of popped out on retasting the second day, but the wine was still quite enjoyable. I'm a fine of this wine for the QPR.

I bought a bottle of this after having the 2008 at the Finger Lakes Wine Festival earlier in the month. I was surprised at how much I liked the 2008, so I was looking forward to trying the 2007. The 2007 is a very nice bordeaux type wine. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. A nice nose of spice, with some blackberry noted on the first taste. The wine evolved nicely in the glass, exhibiting some smoke, earth and pepper - but the blackberry and dark cherry flavors were still predominant. The wine's tannins were well structured as was the acidity. A very nice wine, and one that eases some of my concern about the red wines being produced in the Finger Lakes. I look forward to drinking the 2008 again.

Drank with a good friend at the Smith and Wollenski in DC. Opened and decanted about 15 minutes prior to drinking. Deep red in color. Nose of mint and creme de cassis. Tasting showed some dried cherries and even some plums. The wine continued to evolve in the glass - a great deal of sediment ws noted in the bottle - but the sommelier did a great job. This wine has evolved well considering what some of the experts had predicted. I have been quite lucky with the last 2 bottles from S&W - a 1991 Mondavi Reserve last year and the 1980 this year.

Wow - initial nose of blackberry and vanilla just exploded from the bottled when I uncorked it. I was concerned that it was going to be a fruit bomb as it was quite "jammy' on the nose. First taste, however, was quite good - definitely not a fruit bomb. I decanted for a couple of hours prior to the SuperBowl. This is my first taste of Trivium and I'm quite pleased that I have a nice vertical of these still. This is one fine Cabernet. Not overly tannic - very nice long mouth feel - satiny - blackberry, creme de cassis, and vanilla. I can't wait to try the 2006 and 2007.

Drank a few nights ago. Very tight the first night - opened about an hour before I poured my first glass. Black cherry and some vanilla on the nose. An enjoyable glass of wine, but nothing special. I would have given it an 88 on the first night. Stored in my Eurocave SoWine for the next couple of days. When I tried it again, it had really opened up. The nose was incredible and the taste was quite mellow with an incredibly long finish. I would have given it a 92+ at that point. Finished the bottle the next night. It was starting to be a little muted, but still better than the first night. (92). All in all a very good QPR. I'm not sure that I'll wait very long to drink these - I'll just make sure that I decant for at least 3 hours before. I really think that this needs a couple of years in the cellar, but I really bought these as near term drinkers.

I opened this bottle a few hours ago. It is obviously very young and tight. The initial nose was creme de cassis with a hint of mint. Deep purple in color. Very tight on initial pour. Opened up nicely in the glass and over the next hour. The fruit just explodes in your mouth as you savor each taste. The tannins are firm and there is medium acid. Very full bodied... Needs time... I'll revisit my other bottles in 3-5 years. 98+
