Medium bodied chianti style. Lovely herbal aromatics. Hint of oak. Old world traditional style

Tobacco-y, earthy, dry. Maybe needs time to soften tannins. Hint of the old Bordeaux about it. Good value

First impressions good tertiary aromas of ash and woodland. Prickle of bubbles on first night - why is this an Italian problem? Good acidity med tannins. I felt it faded, and didn’t really stand up to food surprisingly (lasagne, ravioli). Expected a bit more from press reviews, but still good.

Not flawed, but very simple. Quite aggressive mousse, thin, lacking flavours and aroma. Short, simple finish. Soft, not harsh. More like a good, but cheap, supermarket cava. Enjoyed before many times befor so happy to give it another go. Should be 89-90 if on form.

This is the way claret should taste - at its peak with minty, earthy, almost meaty, tertiary flavours & aromas. Straight from the bottle, too good to leave any for the next day

Onion skin. Good acidity, hints of citrus and something else. Interesting

Pale colour, crunchy cranberry fruit with a nice undercurrent of undergrowth. Slight tannin grip. No rush to drink this. Maybe 90+?

Mature Riesling . Full body, good acidity. Notes of apple, lime and petrol. Drinking well in 2022! Not bad for a ten year old supermarket wine

Some nice herbal aromatics but doesn’t really cut it at £20. (“Reduced” from £26!) Primary flavours faded, needs a bit more complexity and length to hold my interest

Dense garnet colour, some oak, black fruit and something hard to pin down on the nose (blood? Rust?). Long complex finish. Well balanced, certainly drinking now

Drinking now - slightly faded aromas and brown colour by day two. Soft tannins, baked cherries, hint of herbs. Soft and mellow, but not flabby. Nice.

Pale garnet colour. Nose hard to pin down, tertiary aromas. Interesting. Palate complex, again hard to pinpoint flavours, but lifted and ethereal, herbs and aromatics. Didn’t really gain complexity over the evening (3.5hours). Maybe should’ve decanted as others mentioned? Just popped and poured.

Half bottle. Brick, almost brown colour, pale, some sediment. Nose a bit farmyard. Palate slight spritz (I find this annoyingly often in Italian wines), medium light body. Medium length. Interesting, in a “probably not again” way. Not bad, but doesn’t deliver at the price. An education, rather than a revelation.

Dense, full bodied. Oak comes through with some Smokey ripeness. Good and robust. Maybe a bit riper and brasher than expected. Lacks elegance to get a 90. Drinking now.

Golden. Nose of malo and wet stone. Dry green apples, lemon, flint and a hint of tannin on the palate. Ten second plus length. Time to drink up. Bought this year from a supermarket surprisingly.

Easter Sunday with lamb. Oaky nose, smoke. Long finish. Well balanced and not over the hill. Subtle nuances lost with mint sauce, but nonetheless a good wine.

Quite acidic, tannins still a bit tough. A sort of broad herby finish, but lacks complexity. Not as good as previous vintages. Price risen, quality dipped. Disappointing.

Soft and mellow. Fruit faded, but a nice menthol mint dominates the palate. I was worried it was over the hill, but it was a lovely curiosity. The Cabernet & merlot characteristics nod towards old Bordeaux.

Pleasant enough in a new world medium bodied fruity way, with a few secondary aromas. Nothing remotely like Italian Sangiovese , and ultimately not as interesting as some of their other wines (Nebbiolo is v good)
Day 3: primary fruit faded, smooth, mellow, oak coming through. Much more savoury and enjoyable

A bit disappointing. Fruity nose but quite flabby and a bit ‘hot’ tasting, especially when it warmed up in the glass. At £20 I’d give this a miss. Paired with lemon roasted chicken.
