This was a steakhouse pop-n-pour, and was good but was very tight. 30 minutes later showing some fruit but just a peek. I have a couple bottles, will wait.

Restaurant Pop-n-Pour. Very young, but decanted and was very approachable with tame tannins. Everyone liked this and we drank all that Vinotecca had on hand, then switched to a ‘16 Quilt, which was good but a bit more austere.

Dark inky color. Big aromas and loads of dark fruit. BlackBerry. Really nice with Shrimp and grits with Tasso gravy. The wife gives a thumbs up as well.

Another very nice bottle. A little hot when opened but blew off in 15 minutes and by 30 minutes it was rolling. Consistent w/dark fruits, pepper, and medium body. Had w/leftover Chicken Parm.

Much better than the last bottle. Tensley redemption. Opened a bit grapey, but after 30 minutes are so began to develop some depth and complexity. Hoping day 2 will continue to show improvement.

A lot of pepper and tobacco, with some anise as well. Fruit on vacation. Tannins integrated, persistent finish. I would say drink up but doesn’t seem like there are many bottles out there. Day 4 under vacuvin and its hanging tough. Maybe better now than when opened.

Restaurant pop n pour. Decent Paso Cabernet. Dark, rich flavor. Middle of the road and a bit oaky, but the table enjoyed it, and a good value.

Dinner pop n pour, at Eddie V’s. Dark, great nose. Very solid fruit coming through, with tannins on guard. Medium-long finish. Everyone enjoyed and a second bottle was consumed. Would have benefited from an hour or so of air, but otherwise drinking nicely now.

Another strong outing for this lovely dark Chianti. Served tonight w a basil pesto pasta. Nice pairing but needs more acidity. Not improving on day #2, but wonderful with a Spaghetti/meat sauce.

Beautiful ruby color. Aromas of earth & mushroom. Big cherries with hints of vanilla and blackberry on the back end. Glad I held on to this point. Superb QPR. Now it’s going to be tough to stay away from that second bottle. Must put corkscrew away....

Solid on opening. Served with charcuterie including salami, prosciutto, some truffle cheeses and manchego. This was a great match with dark fruits and earthy flavors, minerality.

Was a big hit at last nights dinner out with team. Opened and quickly poured. I would say medium bodied with cherries and some smoke for character. Nice with my main dish, a short rib cannelloni.

Drank at a party. Should have allowed some time to open up but you know how it is...Would probably score higher if given more air. Overall good purity of fruit and a nice finish.

A difficult wine to track down on Cellar Tracker and I’m not sure I have it right. This was really nice. Big nose, red fruit and cherries on the palate. Fine tannins and just a little baked fruit. It was a gift and a good one.

Very solid. Had during an impromptu football/pizza party. The wife thought it had a bit of a funky aroma, but everyone agreed it tasted good. Really felt it needed some time to open up, but impatience won out...

Great nose and good dark color. Moderate acidity. Red fruits with some cedar and tobacco notes also. Nice. Much more complex after a couple of days under Repour.
This was actually the Santa Rosa vineyard version. Mis-identified at entry.

Opened a couple days ago. Better tonight. Dark color, blackberries and some spice. Drying tannins which were more astringent when first opened. Don’t get the same bright character I got from previous bottle. Good, solid QPR and would buy again.

Overall good but liked it far less than the ‘13 vintage I had not long ago. Lighter in color, less complex and not much length on the finish. Has improved by night 3, gained some additional spiciness

I maybe should call It flawed. Could be that part of this vintage has been impacted by some issue. That would account for the wide ranging scores. Either that, or this came from their Reserve Jolly Rancher vineyard plot. Carbonation, tart, candy grape flavors. This dude does not abide. And damn, I have another bottle!

Fresh. Tasters have been noting that they expect the wine was nearing or past its peak since 2012, but it just keeps cruising. Beautiful, with plenty of fruit and tannins well integrated. Drinking great despite its advanced age.

After a poor opening impression, this wine came around 30 minutes in and was trending up after 90 minutes. Good color, really nice acidity, and good Syrah character. Different than the ‘13 where I picked up a lot more Grenache. This was darker, fuller. Day 2 note - further improvement, would re-buy.

I was struck by it’s bright acidity. Easy drinking and great with some pizza. Spicy, but not much complexity. Still, very enjoyable.

PnP at 220 Merrill in Birmingham, MI. Full on deep color, rich, just slightly sweet. Not many positive table comments but pleasant, and it went. I would say good, not a buy for my cellar.

Opened with big black fruit aromas and was a beautiful ruby color. Nice balance of fruit and tannin, definitely better than the 2009 version that I had a year ago. Great match for Friday night Ribeyes.

This is a 2nd day comeback. Very astringent and disappointing on day 1, but a totally different picture today. Nice grippy tannins but rounder and with fruit coming through, including some cherry and blueberries. Give it air and expect some reserve - not a typical Zin but worth a try.

Del Friscos Houston. Very enjoyable Washington wine paired beautifully with a ribeye. Fully accessible and fruit forward. Would buy a bottle or two. Reviewer tallmikewine pointed out his suspicion that this is a conglomerate “stealth brand”. Seems to be more of a small entrepreneur fronted by overzealous marketers. Ignore all that.

Dark and supple. More red fruits than black with cherries out in front. Medium body and smooth tannins. I am torn on the rating but will go to the high side. Just a bit too much residual sugar hanging around but less noticeable after an hour or so. Ready for drinking now.
Day 2 and it continued to come around. Should have given it more time yesterday.

Initial impression upon opening and quick decant: Cherries and earth on the nose. More cherries follow, with nicely integrated tannins and good acidity. A long time since anyone reported on this wine (2011), but it’s doing fine and still ready to enjoy.

Deep garnet color, almost no aroma on opening. High acidity and slight vegetal notes settled after 30 min. Became more nuanced but not overly complex. Enjoyable but not memorable. Let’s see how it does Day 2. I’ve popped the score up to 89 on the 3rd day after sitting under VacuVin. More smokiness emerged as well as tannins. Became much more Zin-like

Tasted at Morton’s in Houston. Enjoyed with a bone in filet. Deep with dark fruits, and chocolate notes. Solid performer.
