Some kind of magic - Mike Smith puts in his wines! This man is a master at new world Cabernet. Tasted the La Verdad at a surprise 50th birthday party. It was on the table with a popped cork, so guessing just an hour of air. Singing right out of the glass, leaping waves of graphite and dark boysenberry, gravely structure and a finish to last a life time. Fantastic! 99-100 points as I can't imagine a better Las Piedras wine out there. Thank you Mike Smith!

Pop n pour at a friends BBQ, served with family style chicken/ sausage and pesto salad. Ripe strawberry and raspberry, flint like minerality and nice acidity lead up to a plump mid palate. Well made, but not over the top - Overall a nice pinot, a bit young, i prefer a few years on WS Pinots and this confirmed. 15 is a solid year, id hold for a year or two and try again.

Tasted at a dinner with various Mike Smith wines. One hour of air, seems 2015 is going strong and drinking early. Starts out with gorgeous red notes, classic cabernet fruit shines in this wine, nice cherry liquor and hints of licorice. Mid Palate is round and plush, slightly coy at the moment. Big upside on this wine in a year+, QPR at 65.00, great wine, IMO one of the best at this price.

Gotta love the Mike Smith and ToKalon combination. The Grand Daddy has all the layers and details i want in a big cali cab but the jaw dropping finish is what I just love about Mikes wines. 2015 is drinking so nice now, i have 2 more of these, so great now and can't wait to see how they evolve over the next year. ToKalon/ Mike Smith perfection!

Tasted at dinner of various Mike Smith wines. Really liking how the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is evolving. Mike Smith seems to have the midas touch with this wine. the 2015 is just gorgeous - Red fruit attack upfront, explodes across the palate, and an undeniable crushed gravel on the finish...Wow! Drinking fantastically now with 1 hour of air. Wine of the night 98-99 pts

Opened in a tasting of various Mike Smith wines. One + hour of air, has that nice silky mouthfeel i like in the Myriad wines. 2014 seems to be coming around with some air. Notes of anise, big red and blue fruits, cocoa powdered tannins are soft and integrated, giving just the right frame and structure for this wine. 6 -9 months from now - this wine ought to be singing. 97 now with a upside to 98 in a few months

What a thrill to taste such a rare gem. Tasted more like an old Peidmont wine. Soy, spices and beef broth wrapped around bottle sweetness.
