Translucent in the glass. Brett on the nose, slight fizz, and detonate VA on the finish that causes the throat to clench unpleasantly. But at the same time it is very pretty with high tones fresh red cherry and soaring floral aromatics. No tannins to speak of and an elevated fullness to the body.

Give it 20 min of air. Soft tannins, juicy black fruit alluring violets and purple flowers. No sense of rusticity, but not the heights of finesse from some of their other wines. Fantastic value at the price though for everyday drinking

11.5 alcohol, initially, strong aroma of VA, it's in the natural vein, so the fault is excused but caveat emptor, this is a thin bodied, scorchingly high acid anonymous red. sour cherry, black pepper, no oak. The winemaking carries so much more than the varietal or terroir, I find this wine to be off-putting in its egotism.

In a better place than the 2019, these wines really dont age well. its tart and thin, with lemon dominating the palate but none of the minerality density or pleasure of chardonnay. its just a VA and EA bomb. natty

thin and dominated by VA, bright red fruit no tannisn to speak of. its a well done natural wine with good density of fruit but also anonymous

lacking precision, good body but also a bit muted. of course tis too young but it also didnt have enough flavor to promise more development

aggressive bubbles and CO2 that muted the nose, decanting was helpful for a wine this young. excellent balance and structure, acidity and concentration of fruit promise long ageing potential

oak is only textural, very integrated, fruit is black and red, juicy, overall minerality shines clearly, its correct and soft, although maybe a little anonymous. could have used just a bit more acid, but it is a 2020

flawed
oxidized and unredeemable. cork was in perfect condition and fill level with within .75cm of the cork.

straw colored, still vibrant, lactic and with fresh tones to the fruit. initially dominated by lactic tones but with 30 min of air fruit becomes vibrant and intense. highly concentrated thrilling style of chablis with a measured amount of oxidation from wood but no reliance on oak flavors. i like its confidence
White - Off-dry
Still stay colored, the acid has outlasted the sugar on this one, though the fruit is dried, peach and apricot, the structure really drives this. A bottle in good condition has another decade, but just remember the acid will grow in dominance. Not pleasurable on its own
White - Sweet/Dessert
Fine, finesse with candied mandarin oranges and slightly bitter beeswax. It’s a lighter style with no noticeable oak. Great
White - Sweet/Dessert
Rich and bright acid. Raisins and long length. Basically immortal
Red
Candied red fruit it’s intense and alive. Still dense and balanced but the intensity of fruit comes at th e expense of elegance. It’s a modern maybe even cynical interpretation, but it has aged very well!
White - Sparkling
Showing a pronounced Madeira character, it’s bright and dense, but also sort of clunky and overdone. Trying too hard
Red
Thin and spicy. Clove and nutmeg. Root beer and more muted red cherry. There’s a pedigree that only emerges after 2 hours of air, it’s a spicy complexity that isn’t fruit centered but is still quite captivating. Acid and alcohol balanced tannins still firm
Red
1967 Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Another bottle that is showing vibrant fruit and acid. Red primarily but still it’s pretty thin and showing as much bread crust and fish sauce as fruit.
Red
2010 Château Bellefont-Belcier St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Rich black plum and blackberry. Bitter mocha and the oak still sticks out. It’s soft and rich but let’s call it as it is. The acid is dead
Red
Shut down at first, double decanted and minty red and black fruit very fresh despite low acid. The criticism is a little thin on the mouthfeel it otherwise quite alive and even youthful.
Red
Lighter red, volatile and meaty with carbonic. Red fruit and oddly savory with hard red candy. It’s interesting but thin, and not actually pleasurable
Red
Medicinal red and black fruit. It’s alive and rich, but also sorta dull. Acid isn’t I. Balance with richness of fruit
Red
1997 Antinori Solaia Toscana IGT SuperTuscan Blend (view label images)
Red cherry medicinal and palate coating. Yes it’s ripe and modern in all of those ways that Parker would have approved. It’s good and modern but hardly exciting
Red
Dominated by black pepper, mineral tones and blue and black fruit, it’s bright and alive, and so easily confused for n Rhône Syrah. Oak fully integrated but the richness of Italy. Such an interesting wine
Red
1970 Château de Sales Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Fantastically alive, rich and mouth coating, soft but still alive, yes there’s baked brown bread and some bitterness but it’s richness of black fruit and texture balances out the development. Great
Red
2018 Firriato Etna Rosso Etna DOC Nerello Mascalese (view label images)
tart and thin. actually undrinkable
White
on opening, reduction finely integrated wood, elevated acidity, minerality and tart lemon and apple all suggest another white burg imitator, but with an hour of air the lemon and white peach fruit stands apart and this really shows its spanish character. fascinating, thoughtful and delicious

Great way to teach treaixadura as a varietal, textural with high phenolic extract, bitter green savory bay leaf and arugula, lemon and fine acidity though with a fuller body than albarino. really relicious now

highly effervescent and the CO2 covers the aromatics, should be decanted if drunk this young

must be an older release, rich and toasty with fine and precise yellow apple and hazelnuts

12/31/2022 - vintage_whine wrote:
Benefitted from 1 hr of air, at first dominated by malt and alcohol, but with time the floral gonjo aromatics comes out, thinner and very dry, its an umami sake that's best with food, not on its own
White
spritzy, white pepper and highly phenolic in its bitterness and extract. on the palate white peach and vaguely vegetal. more of a neutral white in this expression
Red
12/14/2022 - vintage_whine wrote:
black fruited and juicy, but lacking the wild garrigue or bloody mneral cut of a more rhone styled syrah expression.

stemmy black pepper from semi carbonic, and beautiful fine strawberry, peony and limestone minerality, purity and depth of flavor. excellent

green melon lime and ample limestone and reduction on nose, with finely integrated barrique and sour cream from lees ageing, sets up for great expectations of a white burg lookalike, but on the palate fails to live up the expectation, with a deficit of acidity and concentration to match the nose. enjoy it for what it is, but dont compare it to PYCM or other white burgs, it a very modern Listan, with oak usage that is more international in style, but still enjoyable

botrytis shows powerfully, but doesn't have the body or texture to match the expectation of softness from the nose, the fruit is austere and fresh, which doesn't sound bad but its disjointed given the amount of botrytis. the wine is awkward and a bit disappointing, not the rich luxurious texture that I'd hope, and 13%. the vintage seems to have been challenging indeed

served cold, tannins integrated, and fine red cherry, moderate acid, doesnt have the thrilling stemminess or the freshness fo the 2007, maybe the vintage overpowers the elegance that nortmall expected of this producer. on the whole, not terribly thrilling

golden yellow, at peak drinking and doesnt seem to benefit from further ageing.. no petrol/TDN, and very integrated botrytis, what is really remarkable is the intensity of golden/dried lemon, peach and apricot tones, its one of the most intense riesling expressions Ive encountered with perfectly balanced acid. its alive, thrilling and up for pairing against the most rich foods, truffles, rib roast, and chinese noodles, along with sashimi

hazy and natural, thin and tart at 12%, nose has EA and VA and the fruit is 1-D with very llittle more than apple cider and tart lemon.

12/25/2022 - vintage_whine wrote:
generic white wine, ageing in oak barely shows, its fresh yellow apple and lemon. fruit is slightly too ripe, and lacks the acidity to remain fresh. if anything it seems a little tired and oxidized, with a waxy texture
White - Sparkling
12/29/2022 - vintage_whine wrote:
excellent, but perhaps too young. focused green apple and lemon, oxidation does not overtake the freshness or precision of the wine at all, and its hallmark is intensity and concentration. definitely one to seek out. rides the balance between intensity and texture so well

great concentration, green melon, fig, lemon, effervescent. 11%, not overly rich, just more concentration and longer finish. great

resonably non-oxidized, but still quite bland and anonymous. vague waxy textures from the treixadura, but soft acidity and flabby texture despite the low alcohol

soft tannins, plush mouthfeel, the merlot is gorgeous here, its a really great example of everyday bdx, with ample acidity and earth.

opened on purple fruit a little too ripe, and an hour later very thin and unimpressive, but at 3 hours, oh my gosh this is fully integrated, ripe but alive, sappy and green and earthy, violets and dirt and electricity. its really beautiful and could give dioterie a run for its money, but, you have to wait 3 hours, or 6 years in bottle.
