An absolutely amazing and elegant wine right now. As I'm writing this a few days after, I won't try to recreate the details. That said, it was a sexy, smooth Chateauneuf that is absolutely in it's prime but has a long time to go if you want to cellar.

12/27/17, 8:18 AM - I did not decant. Just popped and poured. However, if you have time a nice decant and an hour to the air would probably ensure beautiful integration.

2011 Schrader Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon "Old Sparky" Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard Oakville

Tremendous wine for the vintage and still young at 5 years old. Immediately with some wildberry, mineral, cedar and a hint of anise. Medium to full bodied with beautiful layered palate that makes Schrader so special. Well integrated tannins.

7/3/16, 10:05 AM - I tend to drink Napa Cabs around 4-7 years from Vintage though there are always differences depending on the wine style. I think the 2011 was surprisingly young for the 2011 vintage. Might suggest drinking this in the next 3-5 years. After that, it will depend on your taste for aged wines.

2008 Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon Monsieur Ètain Rutherford

Nuanced and subtle. Young. Muted nose of cassis. Mouthfeel was medium bodied. Wine was impeccably balanced, with soft, silky tannins, and lots of vanilla and cherry. Almost merlot like, the finish was medium, and toasty oak and vanilla carried the day. I liked it, but will wait to open more.
