This punches above its weight. Classic Cabernet nose. Very balanced, somewhat cool climate, elegant. Give it a try if you got the chance.
Also try the Clay Lugana.

Tasted blind. Would have thought this one came from Spain as the 14 % by vol. are quite distinctive. No „pfefferl“. Interesting, but not my cup of tea.

Personally I was a little bit disappointed because I expected it to resemble the Riesling style of the estate. But I found this one to be quite fruity and heavy.

Lovely. A crisp Riesling. Citrus fruit, petrol, minerality, what more could you want?

Lots of minerality i.e. very little fruitiness, but some kind of citrus and green apple. Distinctive oak. Lovely and will gain with age.

Let it breathe for 30 minutes. You will get aroma of red and black fruit, thyme, rosemary. Soft and velvety on the palate. Well-integrated acidity, fruit, little tannins. Perfect match with pizza.

Nose of ripeness, brioche, nuts and honey.
Silky bubbles, very delicate.

Incredibly long-lasting. This is a very interesting wine. Minerality, lime, apple, quite complex. Decant for at least 1 hour.

Incredible stuff, very powerful. Decant and drink now or let it mature.

Petrol nose, butter popcorn, could be mistaken for a Chardonnay.
Palate: minerality, volcanic soil, long-lasting finish.

Complex. Fresh acidity, green apple, lime peel, but little fruit in total. Very mineralic. Long finish. Perfect match with Raclettes, but would also fit oysters.

Needs air. Decanted for 5 hours.

Red and black fruit, licorice, cedar, balanced and smooth. Had it with beef goulash, which was a great fit.

Very muted. Alcohol stings in the nose. Some leathery aroma. Some kind of fruit hard candy. 4h decant did not help. On the contrary, it seemed more concentrated right out of the bottle.

Very high acidity, not integrated well. Medium tannins. Apart from that? Minor tertiary flavours.

I bought this wine cheap and it is teaching me a lesson. I did a lot better in the past with that kind of money.

Day 2, which equals a 26h decant: flat on the nose, softer on the palate, but still no meaningful flavours. Length: short.

50h after decanting: this would be an okay Rosso di Montalcino now. Still, nowhere near the BdM I tasted so far.

Aroma: Butter popcorn, milk

Palate: very little primary fruit, vanilla, cardamom, maillard reaction, well-integrated and velvety acidity, minerality

Balanced and very good.

Needs decanting.

Very good expression of Pinot Gris. Nearly no primary fruit, lots of minerality and fresh acidity. Creamy mouthfeel. Will profit from aging for up to 7 more years.

Needs decanting.

Overall well-made.

Bouquet of mashed cranberry, ripe cherry, light tobacco, hint of licorice.

On the palate black plum, ripe cherry, a hint of cinnamon, though it is not the whole spectrum of the taste of cinnamon. Quite acidic, but the acidity is integrated well. That does not wholly apply to the alcohol.

Had it with Quiche Lorraine. Maybe not the best of choices. Intense bouquet of flowers, fruit and spices. Not so much going on on the palate. A little harsh.

Surprisingly good for 15 years of age. Little fruit left, but still a bit youthful. Otherwise not too much going on, not very complex, but enjoyable.

Lemon zest, well-integrated acidity, green apple, unripe peach, tingling minerality. Honey, petrol, subtle oak. You can really taste the soil. Creamy mouthfeel. Long finish.

This is a great expression of a Pfalz Riesling. Subtle use of oak as it is the style of the estate. Not too much. A great Riesling to pair with Vietnamese or Thai food or to drink on its own. 92+

Never have I ever tasted something that close to chalk. Stunning. So well-balanced. Everything you could possibly want from a dry Riesling. Truly translates the terroir into the glass.

Very good Pinot. Well-balanced, with well-integrated acidity. Some freshness, but also quite tannic.

I think this should age well for at least 15 more years. Best probably in 3-7 years. Therefore rated for potential.

This is just incredibly good, even though I drank it way too young. Let it air for a bit. This is just so well-balanced that you could lose yourself in the aftertaste. Everything about this wine screams „wow“.

Very pronounced oak at first, decant it and leave it for a bit. Then it will present itself more balanced. Little fruit, more minerality.

High in acidity. As with all Wegeler Rieslings, give it some time to air (as long as you do not let it sit for 5+ years). In my opinion not as balanced as the Oestricher 2021. Still enjoyable.

Should be served at 14-16 degrees in my opinion. Minty, ripe red fruits, some tannins but also kind of light on its feet (as in elegant). As the wine is getting warmer, it becomes more heavy in taste and less refined.

Too much oak, too little freshness for a Chablis. The acidity does not translate to the palate. Apart from that, a decent wine.

Solid village-level Riesling from a very good vintage. Petrol on the nose. Very flavourful on the palate with typical Riesling notes and some from ageing. Well-balanced, good acidity. On its peak now.
Would recommend to decant immediately before drinking.

Had it with gnocchi and cream sauce. Decanted for half an hour, could have used another 30 minutes though.

The wine is not that fruity, but has more pronounced secondary and tertiary notes of mainly earth and leather. Good acidity, well-balanced.

It will hold up for at least seven to ten more years, while I‘m not sure whether it will improve any further.

Nose: fir honey, plum, dried apricot, raisin, black cherry, slight note of wet earth

Taste: leathery, raisins, mint, vivid acidity, black fruit

Medium to long finish.

Aged very well and will hold up for a few more years.
