- Brick color with medium forming legs. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Round texture with a long finish - This is a delicious full bodied smash mouth red wine with a judicious amount of new French oak(hence the heavy vanilla on the nose). Very nice representation of a Bordeaux style blend from California! Highly recommend with anything beefy or heavy! you'll love it!

The color was light to medium brick red, the nose revealed hints of raisin, prune and bing cherry. The mouth feel was smooth with the tannins and acidity in baalance, and the finish was moderate in length. Although young for an Amarone at this stage, I'm not sure it will improve much with age. Purchased for $30 from Ryan's Wine & Spirits in Wilmington, DE, although not a very complex offering, it offers a very good QPR at that price point, and one I'd drink again and recommend as a solid, entry level Amarone./twh

Dark & opaque in color, this wine revealed deep, dark fruit including ripe plums and white pepper,. The mouth feel revealed a touch of sweetness from the fruit but the tannins were firm. The finish revealed the wines 15%+ alccohol. Recommend to hold until 2013 or after. Share with friends at The Back Burner restaurant in Hockessin, DE/twh

Light in color, the nose revealed bright red fruit including strawberry, cherry and hints of earth. The mouth feel added a pleasant and unexpected spicy character. The finish was moderate. Well balanced and well made. A joy to drink. Enjoyed with friends at The Back Burner restaurant in Hockessin, DE/twh

This wine achieves what it sets out to be, re a California style Bordeaux blend. The color is pretty garnet, the nose reveals tobacco, tar, cedar, cigar box, cassis, currant and dark fruit. The tannins and acidity are well integrated and the finish is moderate. The Cab Franc element is evident and helps add nice complexity. Although more New World in style with its weight, this wine easily outdrinks Bordeaux at similar price points. An outstanding QPR and one I'd gladly purchase again given its excellent value. Purchased from Avenue Wine & Spirits in Wilmington, DE for $12.99.

A blend of grenache and syrah, this wine overall left me somewhat disappointed. The color was brick red, the nose revealed hints of game, herbs, iron, minerality and dark blackberry, along with white pepper. Although the nose, especially when the wine was vigorously opened by heavy swirling in the glass, continued to improve, the taste in the mouth did not, remaining dull and uninteresting. The finish continued on with the same out of balance character. I found it interesting that the nose had so much more to offer than the actual taste. Purchased from Frank's Union Wine Mart in Wilmington, DE for $17.99 (after discount).

For those who like a big fruit bomb with 15.5% alcohol, this one's for you. Typical for zins from Lodi, the nose on this wine reveals blackberry and chocolate. The color is deep red, the tannins are fairly smooth and the finish is hot with all the alcohol. I liked this better several years back when it was more complex and $9.99 a bottle. At $13.99 now, its simply a wine to have one glass with friends. Purchased from Kreston's in Wilmington, DE.

Popped and poured at Matyson BYOB in Philly on Saturday 1/28/12. Upon first opening, it was somewhat closed and only revealed subtle dark fruits and a hint of anise. After 15 minutes, the nose developed more intense dark cherry and blueberry notes. The mouth feel became more intense, with great balance of the acidity and tannins. The finish became more pronounced in the later part of the bottle. The wine itself went from good to very good when paired with my lamb tenderloin. Recommend holding this wine for another 2-3 years to get maximum pleasure from it. Other than the excellent conversation with my dinner partner, Pam Hammer, this wine was the hit of the night. Kudos to Tom Mortimer & winemaker Jacqueline Yoakim (sp).
