This wine has been a consistent disappointment to me. I purchased 6 bottles based on reviews and I don't understand the enthusiasm. From the first bottle (I've been drinking about 1 a year - wrong phrase - pouring out a bottle a year!) They've been appropriately stored in my cellar and it's not corked (or whatever the right phrase for a screwtop wine is). I find it undrinkable (as does my wife or friends who have tried this one with us). It has sharp unpleasant notes to both our palettes. The minerality is there but none of the crispness and fruit notes others allude to. I even went back to the reviews to see what others enjoyed and it's a mystery to me. Taste is, of course, a very personal thing, but this wine gets consistently high marks for reasons that mystify. A real disappointment.

Really a delightful modestly priced wine. Silken mouth feel, strong berry notes and smell, slightly sweet finish, drinking nicely now. Probably in its prime, will consume my other bottles over the coming year.

Bottom half of cork crumbled when removed but wine was wonderful. Two hour decant and consumed over another 90 minutes. Smooth on the palate, very chocolate and licorice notes, wonderful wine. 92 points.

simple dry lambrusco of the everyday variety. It was pleasant and enjoyable, but nothing remarkable.

Full bodied fruit bomb, great mouth feel and flavor, still with ample legs on it. My criticism is that it's a little sweet for my tastes, although I was in a minority on this aspect; my friends quite enjoyed this one.

Very nice and very smooth cabernet. Nice notes of berries on the nose and went very well with cheese. I have one more left - these should be consumed soon, I suspect.

Unfortunately, this wine has outlived its potential and likely should have been consumed a few years back. The tannins are gone, and while it is smooth on the tongue, with notes of blackberries, it lacks much interesting character or finish, even after open an hour or so. At this juncture, it is nothing more than a simple, slightly sweet, and unremarkable table wine.

This wine was consumed as PNP. It started out "tight", a bit sharp, a modest floral notes in its nose. However, over the course of a few hours, it really opened up into a lovely pinot: wonderful cherry and fruit flavors, nice light mouth feel, and smooth finish.

For some reason, I have never liked this wine, and each year I open another bottle hoping with age that this will change. The bottle isn't corked, and the wine simply has a flavor I find off putting. It has mellowed more with time, color aged to brown-red in the cellar and smooth on the palate, but there are sour notes in this wine that I dislike. 85 pts

Wine has sat in the cellar for about 7 years. After about 30 min in a decantor, the most earthy aromas were gone and more fruity scents remained. It is still a full bodied wine, but smooth on the palate with a nice dry finish and good complement to the somewhat spicer food we ate. For its price (under $20 USD), this is a pleasant wine, but I think I will finish the other two bottles soon, as it is probably in its prime. 90 pts.

This brunello was a delight to drink. Decanted for 2 hours prior to consumption. Light brown red in color, silky on the tongue with a long tannic finish (many years left on this wine!) and very nice floral notes. I wish I had more!

This wine was disappointing for its about $30 cost. While the tannins were present, and there were nice floral notes in the nose, there was a clear undercurrent of some sour note on the palate that was offputting. The wine wasn't obviously flawed but I have other bottles and will try another soon.

This wine was a true disappointment. It had sharp and persistent sour flavors upon opening. As we had two different wines, we switched to the other to let it breathe, no little avail - still had sour notes. The next day was no improvement, unfortunately. The bottle was not obviously corked and I have several others which I will open soon.

This wine was silky smooth with a delightful nose - delicate and floral. The rating would have been higher but I suspect that this is a bit past its prime. While I wish I had a few more of these, if I did I would consume them in the coming months while pairing them with lighter food than yesterday.

This is a very enjoyable blend that is drinking nicely right now. While on the lighter side, it has a silken mouth feel and a lovely, fruity nose. It was enjoyable right out of the bottle and over the course of the evening became even smoother on the palate.

This wine is still young! After a 2 hr decant, this inky purple wine was still somewhat sharp on the finish although it had an overall smooth, silky mouthfeel and lovely, fruity nose. On day 2, the sharp finish was gone and it was very pleasant. My remaining bottles will sit a year or two before I open another one.

This last bottle benefited from having sat for another 2 years since I opened the last one. Color was slightly reddish brown. It was pleasantly smooth on the palate, with a mild earthy aroma and a soft, dry finish. I remember earlier bottles as being somewhat fruit forward - that is completely absent here. Wish I had more!

Flawed. Cork was disintegrating despite the wine having been cellared.

Overall, a disappointment. On opening, there was nominal nose and it was sharp on the tongue with a very light finish. The wine softened somewhat over the evening but was still sharp, not what I was expecting. On day 2, it had smoothed out somewhat, still not much nose to speak of and was clearly less sharp on the finish. On day 3, there was no improvement at all from the prior day.

This is a wonderful wine. Smooth on the palate, delightful nose and pleasant, long finish. We also consumed a Jasper Hill Shiraz 2003 in the same evening, which was much enjoyed, but hands down the Foley Griffen was preferred. Only three remaining - wish I had more. 93 pts.

Decanted the wine for 1 hr. Raisons on the front, pleasant nose, sharp on the palate and on the finish. Ignored for 2 additional hours and the wine improved considerably. The sharpness on the palate was greatly reduced; the finish and mouth feel became much more pleasant. The wine is clearly a delightful wine with considerable potential but I believe it needs 2 - 3 more years or MUCH longer in a decanter to really enjoy its potential. No numberic rating as this one was opened too soon.

I have been disappointed with previous bottles of this vintage - they would commonly have a sharp or bitter taste and frankly were more palatable on day 2 than day 1. I therefore ignored my remaining bottles for over 2 years and was pleasantly surprised that the wine is now moving into a much more enjoyable phase. The wine was smooth on the palate almost right out of the bottle, pleasant light fruity flavors and nose with a nice finish with none of the sharp or bitter flavors I previously noted. I look forward to consuming the remaining few bottles in the coming months.

Freshly opened, the wine was very fruit forward and rather too sweet for my taste. Smooth mouth feel, short finish and no tannins to speak of. On the second day, it was much less fruit forward, a bit smoother mouth feel but still fairly sweet and overall disappointing given my expectations. 89 pts.

Slightly sharp on opening. Decanted for 1 hr. Wine opened up considerably, medium bodied wine, smooth finish on the palate, very pleasant nose, matched very nicely to cheeses and homemade breads we were eating. Will let other bottles sit at least one more year before opening. 91 pts.

This is a delightful wine, still a bit young, however. Opened up after a 1 hr decant, but still had a slightly sharp finish, though a nice nose and mouthfeel. Finished the bottle on day 2 and the sharp finish was completely absent. Nose was more expressive and it was velvety on the tongue. I wish I had bought more and will give others a longer decant. 91 pts.
