Dark and inky, glass staining, teeth staining. Rich, opulent, full bodied, young and primary. Finishes long and with a lot of grip.

This bottle was a bit more tart than previous ones, I hope this isn't a trend. I have one left.

Even at only $17 USD for this I found it disappointing. It had that confection quality to it.

I was concerned when I saw some recent reviews of this wine...calling it thin, so I opened mine. I would not characterize this as thin, I would instead call it intense. A wine doesn't have to be heavy or full to be better, this wine did not disappoint, it is light on its feet and provides big and intense dark fruit flavors. Don't look for richness here, expect tightly coiled fruit. The tannins are built for the long haul for sure, but this is Howell Mt. fruit so there you go. I give the scoring edge to the '14 vintage, it had a bit more depth. Two days to finish.

Strange, not as structured as previous bottles. This was more open, ripe, and sweet.

This wine met expectations. Aromatically fresh, flavors of rich dark berry fruit, with some mineral and graphite notes.

This was very consistent with previous vintages I've had, except for one thing, the price was much higher.

Full bodied, blue berry pie aromas, The flavors are filled with ripe and sweet dark cassis like fruit with some mild pepper. Yes this is a bit heavy handed but I was hoping for that. Not a wine I would want to drink every week though.

Very good, well made. Fresh and vibrant aromas and flavors. Nicely concentrated and focused dark fruit. A quality Shiraz. Not over oaked, good purity of fruit. Nice QPR at $45 USD.

The cork had a red streak right to the top. Bottle was probably mishandled some where in the distribution chain. This is the last time I review this wine, I really mean it this time. Starting to show some roundness and maturity, some anise and earth, still has a lot of acidity, and has a way to go.

Had this with the '16 Dalem. This was more complex. Very ripe, leather, earth, and anise aromas and flavors. This showed terroir. An equally good wine IMO with the Dalem, but two very different wines in terms of flavors. I liked them both.

Very nicely perfumed. Youthful dark ruby/violet. Really has a ripe and forward flavor profile right now. Dry, bright and juicy, enjoyable. I preferred the '15 for its more structured character/framework. 90% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc.

As expected this was very Burgundian in style. Cuts the palate sharply, virtually no perceptual oak influence. Medium gold color, mineral aromas and flavors lead the way. Clean and refreshing finish. Had this with a traditional turkey dinner.

This wine combines some mild flavors of butterscotch, melon, and pear notes. A bit of toast too. The texture is oily and full. Slight straw color, acidity is mostly flabby and at times seems out of balance.

Mushroom and stone aromas, some sous bois too. Dark ruby color. Medium to full bodied. Dark fruit flavors with plum, rather open style, very nice, silky, mineral, finishes long, good structure. Best since the great '10 vintage.

Medium bodied, ruby color, very bright and juicy acidity, light on its feet but with intensely focused pure cherry like fruit. I wish they would have left the Petite Verdot out.

This is a blend, but mostly Petite Sirah (90%). The remaining 10% tasted like petite verdot, but it isn't. This just didn't fit my palate, hard to explain. Disappointed with this one.

Oh Gawd this is sweet. Reminds me of the Hestan Meyer '15 Cab. Ok, this one has a bit more depth than the Meyer but still... I have one left, also have one bottle of Wight vineyard '15. A very benevolent 90 points.

A wine with big tannins, oak, & extraction, cuts a wide swath on the palate with deep and dark plum, cherry, and blueberry flavors. Long finish.

Nothing compares to the '10 vintage. This is medium ruby color, with stoney aromas. On the palate this carries the usual anise notes with high acid levels, but the red fruit is rather short, but open. There's some precision here but does not have the edginess, density, and depth of fruit like the '10. I have one bottle left and don't hold much hope for improvement.

A very youthful dark ruby/violet color. Needs a few hours of air time to really shine. Long and silky legs. Already showing complexity, dark cocoa, tobacco, and plum. Tannins are soft, dusty, and elegant. Long finish. Good balance of power and restraint. Still has its best years ahead. Alcohol is high at 15%, yow!

Not typical of an Aussie Cab. This is more Bordeaux like. High intensity fruit, high acid, youthful medium ruby color. A classy and restrained style, there's also noticeable grip on the finish.

Got this on sale for $17. Dark blue fruit in the glass. Compact and tight fruit aromas and flavors. This wine was surprisingly intense, high pitched, big on acid, maybe a bit too big on acid. A lot of lift. Took me three days to finish. I expected more of a soft and flabby style. Not what I expected. A couple years or less in the cellar would probably benefit.

Amazing that it has been 3 years since my first bottle. Bought this one from HDH. It's now more integrated, smooth, complex, so beautiful just to look at and sniff, dark ruby red, bright, no bricking, lots of bottle sediment. Long and endless legs. Seamless, sublime, outstanding.
