Superb wine in the prime of life. Such fun to open a jeroboam for a party. I must have been lucky as this wine could have improved over at least another five years.

Disappointing to have only one left. One of my top VFM wines ever. I hope more recent vintages are as strong, with only 13% ABV.

Beautiful, silky texture. I agree with DRWINE2001 below. Benchmark for aged, sweet Gewurz. 19

Flawed. I couldn't decide if it was corked or just over the hill. :-(

Interesting, very light orange gold hue. Looks like a BdN. Delicious and a definite rebuy - the 12 BdB Motelettes is just too austere for my taste despite similar dosage. This is richer and longer but still with great freshness. Fantastic. Perhaps it will improve but great now. More please! 18

Fine but wildly overpriced. Not a rebuy.

Second and, sadly, final bottle with identical note. Please leave this producer and all his wines for me!

Beautiful. A poorly stored bottle that delivered perfectly. Full and deep, certainly in the riper, more extracted style. But such perfect harmony, tannins melded away, lovely sous bois. Long. Not at all drying on the finish. Some say 99s need more time, but not this one. Although I think well stored bottles of this could go another decade easily. 18

Oxidised. Expensive mistake. I’m never buying Sauzet or indeed white burgundy again. This is it for me. Done.

Last bottle of six. What a shame not to have more. This is beautiful, dark, herby, spicy, fresh blackberries, truffly undergrowth. But really it just smells like top quality, nicely aged, carefully made St Joseph. So pure and long. Perfectly balanced. Top QPR even at £30. Just lacking a little depth and intensity for an even higher score. 17

Ideally I'd have left this at least another five years, preferably ten. A very long way to go. But lockdown is lockdown - drink em if you've got em! Benchmark Cabernet Franc for me. Deep, rich and fresh, swirling perfume. 17.5+

Best, and sadly last!, of the case. Disconcertingly brown but lovely melded tannin and fresh on the nose and palate. This bottle could still go a decade. Shame they weren’t all consistent. VG but beware some failures

Really stellar. White wine of the year so far. Somehow dense and light simultaneously. Great freshness with massive concentration of flavour. Awesome! Maybe it will hold but can it get better? Not in my less than perfect storage. Drink! 18.5 PS I still hate the annoying wax capsules

Delicious early maturity. What an improvement on five years ago. Silky tannins, earthy, black fruits nose, good length, a decade to go for sure. A little heat from the 14.5%

Tannins fully resolved. Fresh, smoky blackcurrant pastilles on the nose. Great perfume really wafting out of the glass. Not very very long, but decent complexity, quite light on the palate / only medium bodied. SO refreshing and delicious. At home with or without food, served cellar cool. I don't recall ever enjoying a <£13 wine more. Drink now - absolutely a point. 17

Couldn't tell if it was a less than perfect bottle,or just slightly weaker than the Rechbachel / Gerumpel bottlings.

Drinking beautifully now. Lovely redcurrant with a little sous bois. Really vibrant and throbbing. Excellent. On this showing this wine (surprising to me) has a long life ahead still.

Beautiful and VGV. Quite reticent on the nose, only medium bodied but great aged sangiovese. Very pure and clean. Good silky tannins, could take further aging but in a good place now. 17

Big bottle variation from this case, despite decent and consistent storage. Very mature tasting tonight, lots of bricking. Soft tannins and big acidity. Opens up after half an hour. Mushroomy. 16

Great balance. Light straw, zippy and fragrant. A point now. Slightly preferred to the PC Altenburg and Gerumpel from the same producer.

Last of six was the best. Sour peaches, floral, rich, round and dry. Plenty of life left in it. Much preferred to the Vieilles Vignes Gauby drunk alongside.

Refreshing, lovely stuff. Good acidity, low tannin, vibrant, meld of red and black flavours. Raspberries. No idea how it will last but bloody good now. This and the T'Voetpad are my favourites of the range, closely followed by Skurfburg and Skerpioen. Kokerboom also fab but needs the right food ( eg creamy sauces). Definitely rebuy. 17.5

Quite austere. A bit tight, but even after a day in the fridge still very lean. Maybe will blossom into something a bit fuller and more rounded?

The 30% jurancon noir really makes itself known. A very different brambly, sour, hedgerow note. Proper wine. Absurd vfm at £6-7 ex cellar. Equal favourite with Omar M'Abuser. 16

Slightly petillant. Fermentation in the bottle? Refreshing, ultra low tannin. In a black glass I doubt I could tell the colour of the wine. As Jack said, it occupies a space somewhere between fruit and wine. Hard to score.

Low acid, buttery profile, round, verging on flabby. Warm vintage so we were told. I've had bottles of this vintage in previous years that were fresher, and then it seemed great qpr at £8.75 from TWS. 15
