Very nice, tannic, and full bodied. This wine was inky dark, and had a complex and brooding nose of graphite and blackberry compote. Mouthfeel was nice. Full bodied, and austere tannin structure. Lots of fruit, and hints of earth and loam. Finish was moderate. A nice wine.

Drank at Bouchon in Napa along side a 03 Cheval blanc. Liked this one a little better, open, alive, with crushed granite interlaced with ripe berry fruit, layers of wood, spice, and earth, and a long finish. Very impressive. May be my favorite of the first growths.

Lush, dark, and open. This wine smelled of ripe blackberry compote, and toasted vanilla. Mouthfeel was full bodied, and revealed silky tannin structure. Cassis, sage, oak, and coffee filled out the palate. Hints of loamy earth blended well.

Very nice wine. Mix of old and ndw world. Dark fruit, funk, and pastureland on nose and mouthfeel was full bodied with spicy fruit and leather and sage. Finish was long. Cool, different.

Okay, Bucket-list wine for me. Opened to a virgin palate (first wine of day) and it was open right away. Nose of wet-rock and dark cherry. Mouthfeel was full bodied and the tannins had grip. But a full compliment of layered fruit and chocolate greeted us. A great wine, almost as good as the 2001 Paloma. But since it was $1261.00 more than the Paloma, the QTP was about the worst I have ever had. Thanks, but I'll never buy another.

10 years old, and tastes like it was made yesterday. Beautirul wine without a hint of senescence. Dark berry fruit and cinnimon oak on the nose. Mouthfeel was full bodied and luscious with dark ripe fruit and oak and vanilla with integrated tannins and a real refined, subtle feel to it. Finish was long and succulent.

Oh my God! Drank at Serrano CC with Kent and Janet, Dan and Steph. Nearly perfect, the wine leapt out of the glass with seductive soft dark fruit and vanilla nuances. Mouthfeel was glycerin like, with deep layered flavors of mocha and blackberry laced chocolate, cassis, and vanillin. Hint palate was long and caressing with the tannins soft and integrated. Nearly perfect.

Nose of baby diaper and scorched earth (seriously!) Mouthfeel was nice, and palate was more like a Northern Rhone, with fruit and leather intermixed with wildflower and bitter melon. Strange wine from America, but funky and cool.

Mature CdP. Very good, tanned leather, sage, cigar box on nose, leather and salty earth on mouth with mature mushroom and dark blackberry fruit. Finish was moderate, with just a hint of oxidation (sherry) on the hind palate.

Well, I waited, and, it got better! Time in the cave did the trick for this one. Nose was of cassis and oak. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, and there was balance between residual tannin and fruit. Still a lot of both, but overall a very enjoyable wine, especially since the vintage was so challenging.

QTP! This was terrific. Easy on the nose, a typical "sweet and full bodied mouthfeel, and loads of red and black fruit. A little on the ripe side, as the Aussies sometimes are.

Tart, may be a little over acidic. A lot of the fruit is missing. Balanced, and may be reflection of the vintage. But not nearly the beguiling viognier from pride I have come to love.

Outstantang. Young wine, but layered and complex, with a nose of strawberry, graphite, and vanillin. Mouthfeel was full bodied and deftly balanced, with cassis, blackberry and sage giving way to vanilla and brown spice. A long and well-balnced finish. Bravo!

Rustic, this is showing about as good as i think it will get. Earth, blackberry and sage on the nose. Mouthfeel was full bodied and mature, with softening tannins. Mushroom, loam with some dried currant and sage. All in all, not a bad wine for the vintage.

Wow was this good. Almost no nose to begin with, but decancded 30 minutes and it started to open. Lots of ripe ester on the nose, blackberry and cassis. Mouthfeel was medium, verging on full bodied. It was terrific, layered and long. A real pleasure, even better than the very good 2006.

Delicious. Great vintage, nose open and smelling of cassis, blackberry, and new wood. Mouthfeel was medium full bodied. Smooth taste, dark fruit and hints of vanilla and sage. Finish medium long. Heavy weight of etOH (apparently 16%) but it was not hot at all.

Bloody good bottle, the best 08 so far. Nose of black licorice and cherry, intermixed with loam and sage. Mouthfeel was warm, full bodied, and full of ripe fruit. Again hints of licorice and black currant on the palate, with a long, fruity finish, like a well made, not too sweet cherry pie. Just delicious.

Drank during superbowl. It was a nice thick red, with nose of cedar and cinnimon. Mouthfeel was classic lewis, full bodied and forward, but also layered with red currant, boysenberry and dark plum intermixed with mocha and vanilla notes. Also some subtle earthy notes, and sage. Great bottle, as always from Lewis.

Interesting. Drank this blind against a Kathryn Hall 07 and an 07 Colgin. The vote give this one the number one slot, I was the only one who liked the Colgin better blind. I thought it was open and expressive, and quite delicious, if not as complex as the colgin.

This was outstanding. Only six years old, drank after a 1986 Clerk Milan. Decanted and let sit for 1.5 hours before touching. This wine was completely new worrld on the nose, candied blackberry, cassis, vanilla extract on the nose. Mouthfeel was leaning toward full bodied, and impeccably balanced. TAnnins were soft, and an explosion of ripe fruit, a backbone of crushed gravel, and again, a beautiful balance. This was WOTN hands down, just terrific! Finish was long.

Really an excellent drink of wine. Polished and layered, nose was reticent cedar and violet. Mouthfeel was full bodied and lusch, with exploding blackfruit nuanced by new wood, brown spice, and creme-de cassis. Tannins were firm but not overbearing, and with wine was deftly balanced. Long beautiful finish.

Deftly balanced, ripe but not over the top, this wine was very good, except for the price tag. Tasted blind it was better than the hall bergfeld, but just barely. At this price point it was inferior to the Scarecrow, the Colgin, the Schrader, the Bryant, the Sloan and others of the vintage. I have an 07, but will not buy another. QTP is poor.

This was wonderful. Nose of black cherry, cedar and cassis. Mouthfeel was full bodied, with a strong tannic backbone, and impeccable balance. Layers of bittersweet cacao, coffee bean, dark blackberry and sage gave way to cassis and saddle leather. Finish was long, and the wine expression evolved in the glass over about an hour. Compares favorably with the Bryant and the Scarecrow of 2007. A fantastic wine.

This is unreal. Nose of sweet berry fruit, sage, vanilla, and hints of caramel. Mouthfeel is full bodied and balanced, yet really expressive. Sweet mocha and creme de cassis give way to brown spice, plum and blackberry jam. FInish is long, balanced, and the tannins are silky. One of the best Napa wines I have ever tasted.

Nuanced and subtle. Young. Muted nose of cassis. Mouthfeel was medium bodied. Wine was impeccably balanced, with soft, silky tannins, and lots of vanilla and cherry. Almost merlot like, the finish was medium, and toasty oak and vanilla carried the day. I liked it, but will wait to open more.

Deep, dark and rich. This wine was initially closed, but opened up after about an hour to reveal a nose of dark violets, cassis, and leather. Mouthfeel was medium to full bodied, the tannin structure was austere, but the layers were terrific. Plum and currant gave way to layers of mocha, spice, and dark chololate, with a long finish of sage and hints of vanilla. Very nice.

Ripe and hot. This shiraz is full bodied and bodacious. Racy bing cherry and overripe blackberry jam on the nose. Mouthfeel was full bodied and a little heat on the top. Some overripe fruit, raisin, cherry, and cassis, mixed with subtle saddle leather. Vanilla and brown spice too. Finish was long and caressing.
