Blackberries, crushed blueberries, graphite, freshly cracked green peppercorn, hint of vanilla, peppermint, bouquet garni, black olives and empty pot of strawberry jam.

Length medium.

Excellent full bodied red - remains a favourite. Stood up to a medley of Mediterranean inspired fare at Shana wine bar.

Wild berries, sundried tomatoes, olives, chocolate, dried thyme, haribo cola cherries, burnt mushrooms, balsamic, soy sauce, fish sauce, graphite, and carob. Medium length.

This wine unfurls layer after layer of pleasure. Nestled somewhere between an aged BDX, cotes de nuit, Nebbiolo, Rioja or Grenache-dominant CdP. Rare to find and unique in flavour profile - QPR is the cherry on top.

One of the most exceptional wines I’ve ever tasted. I recommend a burg glass to take it all in.

2021 Château Brown Blanc Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (view label images)
3/16/2024 - DanyMorcos Likes this wine:
93 points
Nose of apricots, flat white peaches, elderflower, whip cream, gooseberry, shaved almonds, carambar and dusty sucre vanillé. Cantaloupe and chamomile 1h in.

Palate is nicely textured and length is decent. Minerality comes through true and defined.

If tested blind, would have guessed meursault or hidden bench felseck chard. Unlike any sauv. blanc I’ve ever had. For ref. 68/32 sauv to sémillon. Paired nicely with a loaded brioche bun croque monsieur.

What an experience discovering white Bordeaux of this profile and calibre.

Orchard and stone fruit, caramel and delightfully round and buttery texture.
Red
3/6/2024 - DanyMorcos Likes this wine:

Cherry eau de vie, blackberry syrup, dark mushrooms, liquorice, sweet balsamic, bouquet garnit, and cherry cola on the finish. Complex but a little thin on the finish and quick to dissipate on length.

88 pushing 89.

Cherry limestone pop. Cool climate wet fur.

2/13/2024 - DanyMorcos Likes this wine:

Blue fruit, black olives, graphite, silky tannins all wrapped in a velvety texture that packs a deep and complex package.

I find pyrizine notes in cab franc often monopolize the experience but the elegance of this wine may have just rekindled my interest in the varietal. Makes me think of Thierry Germain..

Paired beautifully with a fully-loaded lasagna bolognese.

Starts out with pot pourri and violets, followed by ripe cherries, ultimately evolving to kirsch/rocky graphite notes.

Length could be improved but cognizant this isn’t a cru.

Bruised pears, tropical notes and subtle minerality (limestone I think). Decent length and texture too.

All around well made easy sipper.

All elements present and distinctive, decent tension and good harmony (rich leads in to flinty) but somehow falls a little flat.

Preface that this was lined up with HL’s CM concis du champs (2017) and some GC Chablis (2014), which I don’t believe is entirely fair, but I always root for Niagara in a lineup despite a general inclination to burgs (afraid palate dictates).

Starts out strong with flinty reductiveness reminiscent of a st. Romain or st. Aubin, nicely balanced against fruit notes. Dusty stony minerality. It’s all there, it’s balanced. That said, length and quicker than usual oxidation post opening (honey notes) are to me, problematic.

Steely, salty, and beautifully reductive. Begs for oysters, sushi or watermelon feta salad.

Harmony with a big H supported by highly dynamic tension.

Toasty brioche leesy-notes sourdough dominant, some lime zest notes upon focus. Salted butter 1 hr in.

Exceptional quality drinks like premium champ.

Not crazy about 15% wines but this wore it well, especially one hour in once all fruit notes have nicely melded unfurling layer after layer of something different.

Hits all the right notes - green apple, biscuit and a nice lactic quality - so as to feel almost engineered. Lacking however in texture, length, and identity.

Peach blossom, dried abricots, white flowers, chamomile, green almonds and a hint of cream. A nice dusty/stony minerality as well as an ever-so-subtle sea spray quality shine through 2h in. Delightful.

Remarkably weighted texture that smoothly lends itself to minerality which in turn cuts right back through it. Bruised pear gives way to grapefruit notes.

On the nose : delicate nose of white flowers, chamomile tea, apricots and toast. Soft minerality.

On the palate : decent complexity, texture, and nice oily finish.

Been on a muscadet kick lately and this one’s the nicest I’ve come across yet.

Nose: complex orchard (pear) + stone fruits (peach jam), lime pulp, and flint.

Palate: balance and complexity dance in harmony. Bitter almonds on the finale.

First of Hubert Lamy for me but certainly not the last.

Nose: pear, lime, hints of apricot and baked apple, white flowers, blanched almonds/macadamia, crème fraîche. Wet rock.

Palate: Acidity underlays a considerably thick, silky, rich mouthfeel. Med+/high alcohol.

After a full day tasting premium niagara wines, it’s nice to get a taste for the benchmark.

Standout elements of this wine include the special Niagara Pinot cherries, gamey-like sanguine quality (nose and palate), and more specially the iodine quality (on the nose and palate) - something I have not experienced in other PN.

Outstanding.

Part of 19’ horizontal comprising Rosomel, Felseck and Locust Lane PN.

Remember as more structured of the bunch with rounder (fattier perhaps) mouthfeel, more tannic than its contemporaries but elegant when confronted to protein-rich Christmas meal.

Kept coming back to this one for its balance and food friendliness. It is excellent.

Well rounded, more pronounced earth than Rosomel, acidity a little more attenuated.

Lean, earthy (typical HB earth that I personally seek) and relatively higher acid.

Curious to see how this evolves after one or two more years of sleep (rcvd as Christmas gift).

On the nose: butter, peach and pear, and honey. Subtle gunpowder/rock en deuxième temps.

On the palate: wonderfully more fresh and bright than the nose would lead you to believe.

A sipper to accompany a complex 4-hour gangster film.
