Big structure, lots of acidity and grainy tannins. Seems a bit dumb at the moment, some primary fruit comes through, but has a bitter finish. Probably needs longer still.

A little restrained on the nose, baked fruit and spice, a little medicinal. Lots of acidity balanced by well rounded tannins, smooth mouth-feel. Comes alive on the palate with forest fruits, medicinal spice and herbs. Not very long, clean finish. Drinking well now, may not last much longer.

My last bottle and the best one yet. Wish I had more. Still fresh, primary fruit on the palate, silky tannins.

Well mannered, sweet tannins and medium acidity, full bodied but juicy. Subtle rather than explosive flavour profile, stewed fruit, cedar, graphite, leather and liquorice. Savoury finish is long lasting, would have been great with grilled lamb chops.

A rehabilitation for Pinotage in my eyes. Big, Crunchy tannins balanced by bags of acidity. Crushed berries on the palate, a little vanilla sweetness and sour cherry. A broad palate with a long, velvety finish.

Nicely balanced, but lacking oomph! Nicely rounded tannins and fresh acidity, full died, plummy mouthfeel. Flavour suggests damson, clove, blackberry, leather. Medium length. Good midweek dinner wine.

Still needs a little time, was quite dumb in the glass, needed air, tannins still a little coarse. But still smooth and full bodied with adequate acidity to make this very drinkable. Plum, cherry and a hint of vanilla and spice on the nose and palate, the oaky characteristics in the background and supporting rather than dominating the fruit. This producer is rapidly becoming my favourite Rioja.

This is ageing quite gracefully, still has a punch of primary black currant fruit upfront, but is showing some complexity. Bags of acidity and well rounded tannins.

Medium+ ruby in colour, fading to garnet at the rim. Developed nose exhibits some sour cherry, cedar, vanilla, leather, but fresh, not cooked. Medium+ acidity is well balanced by smooth tannins and not overpowered by alcohol. Flavours similar as the nose, a little less clear on the palate, a little more cooked. Medium+ length. Good Rosso di Montelcino, getting towards the end of its drinking window.

- Crimsom color with slow forming legs and aromas of black olive, cherry, prune, black pepper and oak. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of cherry, prune, black pepper and oak with a medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - A little hot and acidic, tannins quite dry and angular. Flavour lacks punch and definition. Probably a bit young still and may resolve.

- Garnet color with slow forming legs and aromas of strawberry, black pepper, smokey, raspberry and strawberry jam. It's balanced and has flavours of raspberry, strawberry jam, black pepper and smokey with a medium body. Polished texture with a short finish - Complex nose, youthful and dominated by primary fruit with secondary aromas adding spiciness.
On the palate, dry with medium+ acidity, medium- tannins are silky and balance the acidity nicely, giving a medium body and freshness. Medium+ alcohol gives a little heat. Medium intensity flavours of berry fruits, smoke and spice. Short finish, but clean and fresh.
