Somewhat subdued nose of marzipan, almonds, flowers. Some briny olive salinity as well. Made up with good intensity and weight on the palate and sweet stone fruit. Of average length.

Good straightforward wine. Leather, pepper and fruit. Nice weight and enough acidity.

Delicious, some funk/cheese, tons of citrus and lemon with a hint of tropical fruits and mineral. Amazing clarity, power and length for a wine of so little ripeness.

Opaque and dark. A punch of varietal character, spice, cocoa and fruit on the nose. Well integrated, big and berry in the mouth. Nice.

Tasted in a flight of old Zins. Good Color, just a touch of browning on the rim. Very spicy nose with licorice, cola, leather, dried mud, some fruit and a hint of brett to tie it all together. Surprising weight in the mouth with coating, very fine tannins. Lengthy finish. Nice.

Bright straw yellow. Classic Zind-Humbrecht on the nose with notes of honey, marmalade and tangerine zest on the nose. Good concentration for a wine of it's class. Just sweet enough to provide a nice weight that unfortunately feels a touch flabby on the finish. Gimme just a touch more acid. Looking forward to trying the 08.

Very deep and rich. Lots of toast and oak spice, cherry, etc. Rich and heavy on the palate with an uplifting finish somewhat marred by overpowering oak tannins.

Very nice. Blackberry, pepper, sweet oak on the nose. A bit light in the mouth. Reasonably well crafted cool-climate syrah for six dollars.

Touch of grassy, herbal, funk with a revolving nose of confectioner sugar, tropical fruit, and creamy mango. Crisp on the attack with good weight through the mid-palate and not too tart on the finish.

Nearly opaque brick red. A dense mineral core on the nose complimented by licorice, meat, spice and a touch of brett on the nose. Seamless on the mouth with a grippy, slightly sweet, and lighter finish.

Light straw color. Mouthwatering and focused minerality on the nose. Very high frequency (whatever that may mean) with some traces of citrus blossoms and dare I say green apple? Intense in the mouth with a sharp acid attack balanced by a generous richness an minerality. Nice.
White - Off-dry

Surprisingly intact cork for the age. Nice deep golden color. Lemon curd and marmalade on the nose. Good acidity and sweetness to carry the somewhat over-the-hill aromatics.
Rosé - Sparkling

My first foray into older champagne. Iimmediately impressed by the sunset orange color. Yellow peach flesh on the nose, cooked orange zest, and cinnamon spice on the nose. Amazingly powerful and dense on the palate without being cloying. Constantly evolving throughout the glass from orange/citrus notes to creme-brullee to aged strawberry to spice. Impressive.

Surprised by the loads of tartrates on the cork and neck. Deep opaque color with loads of ripe fruit, meat, jam, and toast. Concentrated and plush yet maintained balance. Notes of roasted plums and barrel marking on the palate. Finished hot. Well crafted if a bit uni-dimensional.

Splash decanted. Good color. Notes of sweet oak toast on the nose opened to dried cherry, pomegranate, herbs (oregano). Fine structure with cocoa and espresso. Tight. Much nicer with food.
White - Off-dry

Golden Straw Color. Nose exploded with diesel and flint. Some apricot and canned mandarins coming through as well. Sweet and rich on the palette, with an attractive acidity on the finish. Very interesting.

On the pop and pour, nice plum, berry, and spice. Throughout the glass, shifted between greenness and spanish chocolate cake and fruit spice. Some iron earthy tones as well. Bright acidity and not overstuffed. Slightly short but would be great with lighter foods. A refreshing change of pace from village Rhones.
