I think this wine is at quite an awkward stage right now. pretty closed and the flavors in this bottle were muted. I think I'll wait another 24 months to try this vintage of the oakville again. the 2018 on the other hand........ooooo lala. thank you isabelle, Phillipe (RIP), Phil and sam.

Shows the leaner side of syrah. Think cote rotie rather than Paso Robles. Really delicious with brighter fruit and nice acidity. Another success from Ceritas.

I have had numerous other bottles from Domaine de la Cote that were amazing and this one is off. Strong Barnyard notes have covered the beautiful fruit from this vineyard. Universally disliked at the table and was tossed. Very sad. Looking at other reviews in the low 90’s for this fantastic producer makes me wonder about this bottling….

Will Bucklin may want to emphasize that he is a farmer but let's be honest......Pretty damn good wine maker as well. (obviously the two things are tied together but you get my point). As for many, my entry to old vine wine was the school of bedrock, and this wine is one of the reasons the journey is so fun. Wonderfully balanced and just plain delicious. Don't miss the ancient Grenache as well. Listen to Bucklin's interviews on the Winemakers or Bedrock podcasts to get the background here.

this wine is stylistically right down the line for this producer. Pretty lean for a grenache yet there is real beauty here as well. Think more of gamay than genache and you'll be in the right frame of mind.

Getting a bit tired but still some very interesting and tasty elements. The color is brick. The nose is very tertiary but the midpalate still has some fruit. If you got it, drink it!!!

Definitely surprised at how this wine was tasting. At 25 years old, it was very well integrated with mature flavors but the fruit is still lingering. On the decline but really significant pleasure is still to be had here. If you have this wine, drink up!!!!

Definitely disagree with the previous reveiw. Lovely bubbles with nimble fruit. More on the lighter linear side than a heavier yeasty style.
Was great with sushi and I expect it would also be delightful with something with spice.
