horrifically pre-oxed. truly unfortunate... perhaps not unexpected.

served blind (although not to me). great nose. explosive, vibrant, red fruit... given what i knew about the vintage, i could not have been happier with this showing. none of the tasters identified it as 2004... most thought 02 or perhaps 07. i got none of the greenness that has come to identify the vintage... others did... but only when they saw the label!

beautiful elegance and light berry fruit notes to this lovely bottle. it still seems primary, but i did not find it overly tannic. while it seems a few years away from its prime drinking window, it was a very lovely drink on this evening.

i was hoping for linear pain and intensity. i got none of that. a little mushy and fat to me.

19 years on, and this wine is still monolithic. and not very interesting. whether this wine will evolve into anything approaching enjoyable for my palate is anyone's guess. on this evening (and it was a flower day), i did not enjoy it. i attribute it to the vintage (and possibly my cold cellar) more than anything.

i found this bottle to be really out of sorts. tannins are softening similar to other 05s i have had, and the wine had a good acidity streak to it. but the fruit was fading and i am just not sure that this wine will ever age into a more balanced place. i am now tempted to open a CdE soon for a bit of a comparison...

great cut. good salinity. nice length. true to its place. my kind of wine. i can see how people would want to age it further, as it's still very linear and painful. but i loved it right at this moment. wish i bought more.

ethereal. so light and yet dancing on the palate. another wine just whispering sweet nothings and i was listening. great finishing acidity. #housewine.

linear and lean with refreshing acidity. great palate cleanser.

a bit cloudy. light and ephemeral with good acidity. still had good fruit. an interesting wine for sure.

great mid palate density; good finishing acidity; i truly think this wine speaks of its appellation and of its vintage. frankly, i thought this bottle showed extremely well, and while drinking lovely, i would say a few more years it will be even better. can't say my experience was close to other tasters on this wine, as this was a terrific bottle in a good place.

as a very famous (who will go unnamed) wine critic once wrote, "i drink wine for pleasure, not pain..." and boy was this wine painful. i suppose there is a reason it remained unsold at the domain (or wherever the heck it was stored) before being recently released.

loaded with brett; overly acidic; not nearly enough fruit for a vintage as stellar as 2002 was.

took a flyer on it; never again...

for an 11 year old barbaresco, i would say this wine is exactly where it is supposed to be. little acidic, good funk, fine tannins, nice balance. MO, no way past its prime.

i dug it. has none of the exuberant fruit one would expect in a 2009; it has a quiet elegance showing a wine aging in balance without being flashy. i get the sense of stems being part of the inclusion in this wine, which gives it a rusticity in an old school burgundian kind of way. not at all dirty; i found it to be a clean wine; but i found it particularly interesting especially after tasting some of the overly pure wines made by the next generation in the region.

wine had killer length and great density. really grew on me the longer it was open. unfortunately it was just a bit pre-moxed. which prevented it from being really outstanding. but a good drink none-the-less.

this wine has never been good to me. right now it has some fruit, but it's monolithic, but without any tannins to help with its aging. its a bit of a simple drink and i guess at the price point was ok; but truly hoping for me.

beautiful density and balance to this wine. very pretty (not in a chambolle kind of pretty) and surprisingly primary. the depth of the fruit here was fantastic. for me this bottle is aging at a very slow pace; but it was none-the-less delicious in the middle of a sunny afternoon.

wow... my bottle was great. young but great. i DEFINITELY had none of the VA that other tasters mention; nor did i see a green streak. my bottle had some of the classic notes of iron and fist bumping depth that i associate with barolos from the east part of the region. bit of balsamic on the nose; but still very very primary. no need to rush into them... but i value others experience with this wine, and it makes me curious about my remaining bottles. first one i tried of this wine. i'm sensitive to VA and hate it.

really a terrific showing for this wine. just beginning to take on some tertiary notes. great burgundy funk. lovely balance... maybe a hair hollow in the mid-palate. good length. definitely had a bit of the animal. i do not get any excessive oak, but perhaps time has integrated it nicely. good drink.

man, this wine was singing 3 years ago. now, it's really lacking vibrancy and attention. it was borderline on getting that caramelly, butterscotch notes on the nose, but just barely. the finish had good intensity and length.... certainly not a bad wine, but i truly preferred it younger when the acidity was refreshing and cleansing, and the flavors were more delineated.

painfully young. brutally intense. rips the enamel off your teeth...

much better on day 2. i'm not a fan of decanting champagne, but if you are pulling a cork on this one any time soon, it might be worth it!

hated it. oxidative to the point of being flawed. just not an enjoyable drink for me.

2nd time i've had this wine of late. 1st showing was horrifically oxidized and not worth drinking. this bottle, on the other hand, was completely on point. intense aromas of lemon and acacia. great power on the palate with enough acidity to balance it out. terrific length and flavor authority. such a terrific drink; and such a contrast to the previous bottle.
both bottles were from the same cellar; purchased at the same time; and with no difference at all in their transport and storage.

i know 2010 was not a great vintage for champagne; but j prevost hit it out of the park as far i'm concerned. terrific balance between fruit and acidity. almost painfully dry... in the way i like it... certainly one of the top producers for 100% pinot meunier champagne.

while this wine has shed it baby fat; it was still pretty monolithic. deep dark berry fruits, great length. tannins are very fine and the wine had a beautiful mouth feel. really enjoyable, but still years away from prime drinking window.

little reticent when first opened. but incredible length and flavor density. as the wine warmed up and opened up, explosions of lemon with zinging acidity but full in the mouth. i loved it; but for those that like more maturity, this wine can go for many moons longer... barring no premox, of course...

i purchased this in 2017; so i'm guessing this was a 2013 base vintage. frankly, i'm a fan of this producer, but not this wine. there was a lack of finesse to this wine, possibly due to not enough acid. it just laid there on the palate rather clumsily. no nuance, and while i do enjoy some wines that are 1 note, the note on this wine was not one i actually liked. very disappointing for me.

really beautiful wine. light berry aromas, beautiful balance between the fruit, acid and tannins. not at all heavy; just lovely glass of wine. no harsh tannins.... at 13 years old, i'm not sure i would say the vintage dominates. perhaps having a bit soft mouth feel, but the balance and precision of the wine is what i stays with me. great to drink now, perhaps more interesting later...

lot of brioche when first opened. too much so... not enough cut for me as previous vintages have been more in line with my acid freak palate. that said, the wine did evolve into something more memorable and enjoyable for me the longer it was open. not lacking in personality.... that is for sure.

i did not get the roasted flavours on this wine. i thought it was pretty tasty, with some earth and forest floor framing a solid core of dark fruit aromas. perhaps a little light on the acid, but a very pleasant drink none-the-less.

really great drink. terrific cut and precision, but still had gobs of fruit. had i tasted this blind, i may have thought it 100% chard; despite it being a 50-50 mix of chard-pinot. my kind of bubbles - painful intensity!

great delineation and cut. disgorged 11 months prior, this wine was not too austere for me, but perhaps for others. blind would have guessed BdB, despite the cepage being 55/45 pinot noir/chardonnay.

another killer bottle. evolving at a glacial pace. still very intense with great cut and delineation. length goes on forever. i do not get the ripeness that others talk about... to me beautiful balance between acidity and fruit. just a lovely bottle.

2009 base. disg 12/2012; 3g/l. while i love bereche, i was not a fan of this wine. i think its tough to do 100% pinot meunier champagnes, although i do like jerome prevost. perhaps this wine was just a tad too old for me, as some extra bruts do not age well, but it was lacking good acidity and zing that i love in champagne. i'm a bit of an acid freak, and this wine seemed to have more the oxidative notes which were just not my thing. well made wine, but not in my wheelhouse...
Red
cloudy and light with no exuberance or much of anything to recommend. nose was completely muted and never came out of its shell. either this bottle was not right or this wine has not aged well at all. can not recommend. it was open and followed over the course of a couple of hours...

hard to imagine me liking a big house for their entry offer, but this wine was a steal at $30.... i wish i bought more as now sold out. recently purchased, but unsure of the base vintage.

i'm not sure i see this wine evolving into something better than it is right now.... at least based on the bottle i tasted. i found a rustic element to the wine that was not per se unpleasant; and it certainly has shed any of the exuberant fruit of its youth. the tannins have mellowed and there are some secondary elements already pleasant. i'm sure with more age, it will further mellow, i'm just not sure its going to get any better. it will just get older...

vibrant nose of lemon and biscuits. but on the palate, this wine was bone dry... austere... to the point of pain... perhaps in a couple of years it will flesh out, but at this moment, it was borderline too much for me, and i'm a bit of an acid freak...
