Notes of ripe red fruits, earth, tobacco and graphite in the wonderful nose. Harmonious and balanced on the palate. Slightly drying in the finish. Well-kept bottle, showing younger than expected between its siblings of 2003, 1996 and 1989.

Montrose 1982, 1989, 1996 and 2003 (JM Amsterdam): To sit down and reflect on; flamboyant and intense. Well-delineated and opulent nose with lavender, red ripe cherries, menthol, iron and tar. Expressive and complex palate with ripe juicy fruits and Asian spices. Smooth and well-integrated tannin in the long lingering finish with good freshness. More 'New-World' and relatively further developed or more accessible than the vintages as 1996. For now 96 points (nose 98) and more to come.

Yellow gold color. Increasingly interesting and expressive nose - compared to earlier bottles over the last 4 years. With notes of tropical fruits, canned pineapple, macadamia nuts, crème brûlée and lemon curd. Great mouthfeel, rich and elegant with notes of vanilla (oak), nuts, candied fruits. Medium-long finish. Balanced and enjoyable.

A Rockstar and a step up from vintages as 1996, 2000 and 2003. Bright dark-purple color. Dark berries, iron, graphite, smoke, licorice and eucalyptus. Typical Saint-Estèphe/ Cos' exotic nose. Full-bodied, highly concentrated and complex on the palate. Jammy berries, cherries, lavender and some cedar notes. Fiercely intense and long lingering finish with big and supple tannin. Needs some more time to further integrate and shed some tannin. 95+ for now and will certainly gain more points with time.

Fabulous Syrah and fabulous Cornas! More fruit driven than the Clape 2009, ripe juicy black cherries, iron, lavender and iodine notes in the nose. Powerful, medium - to full-bodied palate, great elegance. Long lingering on with well integrated but not fully dissolved tannin. Later, after two hours+ developing animal/ gamey notes. 96p for now. Having everything to develop into a Masterpiece.

Lavender, iron and iodine. Big and rich Syrah but difficult to place at the moment (blind). Nose is quite developed compared with the 2010 Clape. Ton of black fruits and coarse on the concentrated and full-bodied palate, firm tannic core. Needs time, at least another 3-5 years. 94p for now but will gain more points.

Northern Rhône Dinner (semi-blind) (AB' house, Keizersgracht Amsterdam): Another great Guigal; precision, power and elegance. Raspberries, ripe black cherries, some tar and multiple Asian spice notes in the nose. Concentration and elegance on the palate, smooth tannins so well integrated. Must have been harvested at perfect ripeness. Needs more time, not at peak yet - 95+ for now. Did very well with the grilled Skirt Wagyu!

Northern Rhône Dinner (semi-blind) (AB' house, Keizersgracht Amsterdam): My first experience Guigal La-la's and specifically this wine was in 2016 when I gave 100 points. Great to have this tonight again (Thanks S!), between other fabulous bottles from the same region.
Stunning masculine wine with great precision. Notes of blood, grilled meat, band-aid, iron and bacon. Smooth, silky and polished. Many years of life ahead.

Northern Rhône Dinner (semi-blind) (AB' house, Keizersgracht Amsterdam): Classic expression of Côte-Rôtie with that typical haunting perfume. In Guigal-style; technically well-build, focused and elegant. Complex nose reveals the Syrah-pepper, fresh prunes as well as notes of tobacco, grilled bacon, meat and mineral. Full-bodied, silky and elegant on the concentrated palate with dark fruits and 'band-aid' in the finish. Tannin not fully resolved. Might well further improve with time and gain point(s), now: 94+

Northern Rhône Dinner (semi-blind) (AB' house, Keizersgracht Amsterdam): No. 1 Wine of the Night, outstanding Hermitage Blanc confirming the capacity of this wine to age well. Bright golden-yellow color. Amazing, big and complex nose with great delineation. Notes as honey-melon, ripe apricots, Macadamia nuts, butter, honey-comb and lemon-zest. Rich, dense and mouth-filling on the palate with good acidity and a hint of oxidation. Excellent structure, balance and length. Well-kept bottles should show well for another 10 years.

Northern Rhône Dinner (semi-blind) (AB' house, Keizersgracht Amsterdam): Not very expressive on the nose, flower and young fruit notes. On the palate green apple, young tropical fruits - as young fresh pineapple and a note of flint/ gravel. Well balanced, rich and lingering on with nut and tropical fruit notes. No oxidation. Needs some more time in the cellar, or early opening, and should keep well, 92 points for now.

This 1990 Riesling offers a basket with all kinds of wonderful, both ripe and unripe fruits. Thus a balancing act between sweetness and acidity. Color is deep gold. The nose has notes of Crème brûlée, rich and ripe tropical fruits. On the palate as well as finish highly concentrated ripe apricots, young peaches, young mango and zesty mandarin-orange!

Montrose 1982, 1989, 1996 and 2003 (JM Amsterdam): Still incredibly young, this 30-years old wine - a timeless classic! In the nose iodine, iron, smoke, leather and forest floor. Powerful and full-bodied palate with black fruits, graphite and tar. Several days later when checking in again on this bottle (under Vacuvin) it had further gained complexity; 'dark and brooding', long and intense. Outstanding wine with a long life ahead. Score based on the second tasting, immediately after opening was closer to 95p.

As antique lace, so fragile and refined. Absolutely wonderful, fanning out in the mouth. Beautifully complex and delineated. Long lingering on. Notes of earth, dried prunes, horse-stable and leather, dried raisins. Light in color, bit cloudy. Reminds of Burgundy. Wish I had some more bottles left.

Less impressive than the bottle we had in 2012 (94p). Tonight beside 2000 VJ Reserve which was in better shape and might be the reason of my relatively low score. Powerful nose with notes of flowers but restrained in expression. Minerals and iron notes on the powerful palate. Finish remaining bottles in the coming years.

The aged Ermitage' iron, dust and smokiness in the nose as well as graphite tobacco, some eucalyptus and medicinal note. Beside 1994 Le Pavillon tonight, this has more liveliness and 'tension'. Complex and intense on the palate with minerals and great elegance. No hurry to drink these.

The typical dust, iron and heavy smokiness of classic Hermitage. That and blood, bacon, black cherries, all well delineated. Good acidity, broad and dense palate, tannins are bit dry but overall harmonious. This nose is just excellent. No hurry to drink, it will stay like this for some time.
