2012 Prager Riesling Smaragd Klaus Wachau

Not a wine to get you hooked on Wachau or this particular producer. The balance, the concentration is there but somehow the whole package is a bit mute and unexciting. I miss the liveliness, the transparency and the colours of the best Austrian wines.

1999 Oremus Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos Furmint Blend, Furmint

Complex nose. Dried apricots, orange jam, ginger, refined botrytis, some smokiness, slightly burnt sugar, honey. Full body, dense, oily texture. Very good, but not exceptional intensity of flavours. Lots of acidity, easily balances what's more, overpowers the richness and sweetness of the wine. Long, but not incredibly long finish. Still feels young. 90-92

12/18/13, 1:09 AM - Thank you! It is always pleasure if somebody agrees :) I think warmer vintage Oremus aszús (for example 5 puttonyos from 2000 or 2003) with softer acids are more approachables and balanced nowadays...Cheers
