Still needs time to develop. Has some complexity. A decent wine. But needs time to develop more complexity and evolve into a more delicate wine. Drank too young.

Decent but not delicate. Still young. Doesn't taste like it will be great wine in 10 years; not enough stuffing for that. Way over priced at $100 Cdn.

I have this noted as a "vendemmia", so I hope that this is the same wine.

Nose - Nice, round, elegant fruit with some tannin. Still a tad closed on the nose. Maybe abit more tannic than round, but still nice.

Palate - as above. Very drinkable now, but will be better in 5 years.

2000 Château Pontet-Canet Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
1/1/2016 - Jhcwine Likes this wine:
94 points
Nose - ample fruit. Typical pauillac nose. 95.

Palate - Medium body. Ample fruit. Pauillac typicity. 94 or 95.
Still primary fruit. A tad too much fruit. Not much maturity. But there is sufficient tannin for long aging.

Will be even better in 5 to 10 years.

Nose - Lovely, interesting, ample fruit, sweet. 96

Palate - Full fruited, sweet, sufficient but integrated tannins. Some acidity. 93 or 94

Might age well, and be very nice in 5 years. Question: Is there sufficient tannin to age?

A decent Pontet, but I've had much better.

Nice balance of mineral, acidity, honey, chardonnay fruit.
Initially a tad harsh. Needs atleast 1 hour, maybe 1.5 hours to attain balance.

Balanced nebolio fruit (not too full; not too light). Fine grained tannins. Somewhat tannic but still drinkable now. Very good QPR for a $45 wine. Will be a nice wine in 5 years. So 92 now; 94 in 5 years.

Nose - Typical lead pencil. Sufficient (not closed).
Palate - Typical but somewhat closed (abit tannic, relative to fruit)

Needs another 5 years, for tannin to recede, to be in balance with fruit.

1 hour open bottle, 1 hour decant. Very balanced, has finesse, tannins sufficiently resolved, still ample fruit and sufficient tannins for further maturation. Quintessential Leoville, quintessential St.Julien. Lovely, fine nose and palate. Lead pencil, cigar box, black current, etc. Lovely now, with the decant. Even better in five years.

Limited notes: Decanted 2 and 1/2 hours, due to substantive drying tannins, which somewhat overwhelmed the fruit. Improved in glass. So do not open for 5 years. Window is likely 2018 to 2027.

Coravin'd a glass from another bottle, in the City. The wine was much less approachable, possibly shut down. Limited tasting notes, but my prior note either reflects a different bottle or cottage fever.

Limited notes: Coravin'd glasses over 3 nights. Very approachable on opening. Limited or well integrated tannins. Medium light body. But the wine declined in the glass fairly quickly. Noticed same from wine tasted at LCBO. So a fine wine to drink up with friends. But insufficient tannins to last an evening or second day, or to cellar. So 92 or 93 on opening, declining to 75. JR rated 18, likely on initial taste.
