For me, this didn't really live up to my expectations and past experiences that I've had with Pégaü. While it was still a very good wine, I think I was just expecting to be blown away and I wasn't. Professional scores for this wine are all in the 92-94 range and I feel that's a bit of a stretch. The main flaw I found was that the alcohol was a touch out of balance and certainly made the wine very hot on the finish. Everything else was quite nice so perhaps it just needs some time to come together. I've got another bottle that I will check in on in the near future and reserve scoring until I can give it another chance. As it is right now, I'd put it in the 87-90 range.

2/28/10, 10:22 AM - I have been a bit disappointed with the 06 and 07 Pegau Reservee. I found both just essentially overripe, a bit too soft and a bit hot. Granted Pegau is a big wine to start with, but I prefer 01, 04 and 05 to 06 and 07, at least based on the samples I've had...

Minneapolis Wine Club Spanish Reds (Anna's House): Dark purple. Nose of spice, dust, cherry, and floral. On the palate it features an abundance of spices, vanilla, oak, cherry, crushed rock and floral. Medium and concentrated finished. This wine was decanted 4 hours and it really opened up. For $25 a super value. I wonder if others who rated this so low didn't decant?

2/28/10, 10:14 AM - As one of the ones who (really) didn't like this wine, it wasn't a case of decanting (I've drunk it several times, each time trying it over several days). I've tried other bottlings from the producer as well. They all have a really rough and unintegrated character to me and seem overworked. Even more unfortunate, though, is a really artificial and chemical component to the wine, perhaps from the wood, or who knows where. Just my $.02, glad other people like the wine better.
