Needed some air time to let off the alcohol. Balanced mild to moderate tannins. Paired well with meets.
It won’t last much longer in a cellar I’m afraid

Yuk!
A wine shop in Nevada City sold me a bottle of grape soda! Lots of fruit. No body or tannins

I read the company bio on this wine: they claim they want it to be good immediately. This hints of additives etc to get a quick hit. Perhaps not. But needless to say, this was an expensive disappointment! Yuk

Spanish flair. Different tannins and fruit but mild. Well structured. Paired well with chocolate and our roasted chicken

Actually a 2017z opened up with tannins and caused a mild puckering. But within an hour laid down and very drinkable. Not much on fruit. Almost a sausage wine. Which in fact pairs well with deli meats.

What a ride. Opened up and it was a crouching caged tiger. Acidic, strong, heading towards kerosene (but not). Definitely not a stand alone. Had some stinky cheese and it complimented well.
3 hours later, this tiger became a calm yet powerful pet. Smooth, elegant strong balanced fruit. Able to sip alone but it pairs with food. We just happens to have tacos and it paired so successfully!! Truly any amazing ride. A Borolo will do this.

Mild but notable tannins. Over a few hours the tannins faded away
Fruit is of good character but not overpowering .
Excellent wine

Right out is the cellar and it was delicious. As it warmed up over lunch the flavors of course expanded. This is a great pairing wine and complements the food, it doesn’t try to conquer

Amazing how well this wine holds up after 11 years. Ready to drink , good fruit, cinnamon, assertive distinctive flavor as always. I M certain this wine could continue to stay its present signature flavor another 5 years EASILY, if not 10

Translation of Raage from March 26,2023
Compared to the “simple” Barolo from Cascina Fontana, this vintage is more ambitious, with tighter substance, more present bitters and an aromatic, in my opinion, much less charming... It's a bit of everything I fear from Nebiolo on call, a somewhat sad austerity, and a lack of complexity. I had been so captivated by the Barolo 17 that here everything lacked flavor... The fact remains that by waiting 5/7 years it should evolve remarkably, its density having a real depth, the grain a finesse under -jacent. At this stage, it lacks fruitiness and flowers and remains stuck in its leather, its brambles, its autumnal harshness.

This is what a wine made by a maestro wine maker is all about. This is wine for adults! If you appreciate mature well aged wine then taste this. Initial alcohol rush which evaporates in 20’. Full bodie with layers of taste and distinction. Balanced. Smooth. Sometimes yet a firm introduction of certainty. Great with foods but also stand alone

This is a true gem of the more backbone grape soil of Barolo. It can age, told 35 years, yet it’s drinkable now. It changes in your glass as long as you take the time to drink it. Pairs well with many for types

Out of the bottle at 16C, this already showed balanced tannins and smooth body! We drank in unique glasses ( the somm recommended) and it continued to evolve. As well our somm told us it would warm up 1C every hour. The wine changed! It paired wonderfully!

Recommended by 20y/o sommelier at La Piola restaurant in Alba(Leonardo is his name and he KNOWS it!!). Well balance between structure and elegance. Paired with our pastas, chocolate pudding desert and even the bread sticks.
Mild bit notable tannins, medium body, medium aroma, finish is mild. I could drink this all day but with some type of food

This wonderfully age Barolo cane out of the bottle as if it was only 5 years old, not 22. A bit below room temp but as it got oxygenated it unwound from its tannins. Paired acceptable with lamb and mushrooms as well as a variety of cheeses. Towards the end of a 2 +hour meal it’s age began to be noticed. It’s not spoiled nor past it’s peak but still a hint of its sge becsje apparent. I’d think it’s great to drink now and for another 5+ years IF cellared properly

At winery(best tour ever!) and paired well with complex or earthy foods(pate, mushrooms, heavy cheeses, stews) as the earthy complexities blossomed. Smooth and bold. Can age to 2048 even longer

This wine is a great simple food pairing table wine. Not too many great reds out of the Venito, yet this one is a team player. If you’re having a dinner and not too many sophisticated wine drinkers amongst wine drinkers then get this! Everyone will accept it.

Right out if 58 degree cellar was good. Cork fired and part ended up in wine. Inhale from glass is a bold smooth balanced aroma telling you to breath in again as there is more there.
Taste is moderate body , no biting, average fruit but again this haunting of “taste me” draws me in to sip more and more.
Paired well with Italian sausage with barratta, olive oil & vinegarett.
Not had a bad Cain Five ever

A bit disappointed : the body, flavor and roughness were marred by the alcohol flavor. This is a bottle with 14.8% alcohol . That flavor stayed, despite decanting for hours. Had to work a bit to get passed this alcohol taste and focus on the berry. Did not really pair that well .
I won’t buy this again

Had it with truffle pasta at Joel Rubichon in Vegas. Wonderful taste right out of the not -yet-room-temp bottle . Initial aroma was the clay from how it’s stored but that whisked away as this balanced delicious wine opened up. Not too dry, not too fruity . And by hour number 3 it was still improving .

Last minute stay home and ordered pizza I pulled this from the cellar (58 degrees ). Opened and let breath in wine glass for 30 minutes . Excellent!!!
Brunello’s are a pairing wine. This is a prime example. Balanced , mild tannins and fruit. Just good !!! Smooth also

Clear, golden color with old world aroma. Mild oak tones but nothing like the American Chardonnay (overkill ). Moderate body
Paired well with a duck consume broth .

Bought from recommendation of V-wine cellars I’m yontville, Napa.
This 12 y/o wine is majestic. Aroma is of oak and vanilla. No alcohol odor or taste . Opened and right away smooth and powerful like a Cadillac De Ville. 24 hours later still smooth with flowing berry structure. A combination of interlaced flavors and spices (which I’m not sophisticated enough t to describe) that work together seamlessly. What a wine!!!

Caro Dorum 2005, a Spanish wine from the Toro appellation. Deep, DEEP mouthful of blackberry flavors with a layer of vanilla (from the oak) just underneath. Though the wine is seventeen years old it still has a sturdy tannin super structure which, rather than muting the wine (as it would with a young, less powerful wine), only distributes it across the palate.

This is a fine wine, each sip a little gorgeous re-visiting of that first astonishing bucket-of-blackberry mouthful.

Brought to room temp for 2 days then decanted over an hour. The aroma and flavor, which were identical, continued to unwind , develop and grow in stature. It’s seductive nature hasn’t halted(it wants my room key). A dramatic transformation!

As to describing the flavor; it is difficult.
Berry & tannin predominant and elegant. Brindled with a spice(s), and a blunt smooth metal (graphite?) Transforming from lips to end of the gullet.
Food pairing caused the not-ripe-cherry-like fruit flavor of the wine to be dulled, sharing the pallet for both.
Based on the 6+ hours to drink this wine (from opening the last drop) it is aging well. I sense this can be cellared a few more years if not longer.

Pulled this for daily drink . Lasted 3 days with simple aerator stopper in it. Last day it bordered on breaking down. But glad to know this aged well. Paired with my dinners and snacks.
Bold fruit, faint alcohol taste (14.3%), balanced whole way

This has aged perfectly ! Smooth, bold and structured. Moderate fruit but not fruity and no alcoholic flavor or aroma . Stand alone excellent yet paired well with pasta and veggies .
After uncorking and consuming 2 glasses over a few hours , left bottle pour filter in (thus aerating) and next day it had not tarnished at all. Wow!
