Huge bouquet, we could smell the red fruit from across the table! Delicious wine...supple tannins, lots of fruit and long finish. Can't imagine this will get any better from here.

Drinking well, but short of the 07 Dominus. Ripe dark fruit and distinct currant, but not the length i was expecting.

A nice wine, but faced with tough competition. A more austere wine - earthy palate, tobacco and coffee note. Good strucutre, but missing the fruit.

The 05 Lascombes continues to perform beautifully and consistently. Still young, loaded with dark fruit, with cassis and dark chocalate notes. Silky texture and lively tannins leaves me looking forward to the next bottle. A great wine and outstanding value.

Consistent with prior bottle. This is really singing - bright ripe fruit, coffee/mocha, good complexity & long finish. Drinking beautifully now, but showing no sign of slowing.

Much better than previous bottle...the raisin sweetness has subsided, replaced by juicy dark fruits. Also more depth on the palate. Not sure how this garnered the ratings, but I am looking forward to seeing how this evolves.

Opened for 1 hour, drank over 3. Plenty of depth to the wine, which continued to evolve over the meal - dark fruits, earth and chocolate. Surprisingly supple tannis for such a young brunello. A beautiful wine.

Outstanding. Surprised by this one, WOTN with some big competitors...97 Opus, 01 Insignia, 96 Cheval Blanc. This bottle was singing.

Drank with the 2007. Both superb, 08 is a bigger bolder wine. The 2007 is more nuanced, and beautifully integrated. tough to call the winner, will have to retest next year...

Drank over 2 days. Day one: strong bouquet and full bodied, but a tinge green. This bottle was singing on day 2. Will off on this one for a few years to see if it resolves in the bottle.

Even better than the previous two bottles. Lush fruit and velvet texture are superb. While this definitely isn't fading, i think this is peak drinking and should be enjoyed in near term.

Shimmering garnet color with floral & red fruit on the nose. Palate does nt disappoint...Young and energetic, but not overpowering. Nuanced with loads of raspberries and herbal finish.

First bottle of 2010. The red fruit is distinct and good crisp acidity, but not quite the depth or body of 2007/08/09. Delicious nonetheless!

My first foray into the 07 Obsidian. Surprisingly approachable, abundant dark fruit - blackberry and stewed plum. The tannins are prominent end but supple and pleasant. There is something green, that hopefully will resolve with time. Very young and likely to only get better. Will revisit in ~18 months.

Deep garnet color and immediately inviting nose. Massive on the palate, but not in an overly-extracted way. The dark fruits where complemented by cocoa and smoke notes with a long and lingering finish. This was superb and almost as good on day 2; it is drinking great now and will probably finish my last bottle in 2013.

This isn't a dessert wine, it is dessert! Honeyed orange & apricots scream, and the texture coats your palate and lingers seeming for minutes.

Still going strong. We both agreed much better than the 06 Pax Obsidian, not nearly as dense or tannic (albeit considerably younger), and clearer fruit and longer finish. Consistent with last note.

Drank blind, only knew it was a napa Chardonnay. Refreshing nose of sherbert and spice, straw color with a little clouding. A terrific wine, crisp apple flavor up front and the spice on the midpalat, and lemon sherbert on finish. The oak is definitely present, but subtle and enjoyable.

Superb! Drank from magnum with dual decanting. Incredibly dark and dense with only faint bricking. After 42 years of dust blew off (~30 min) the depth was incredible...dark fruits, tobacco, spice, with great length and clarity. A powerful, yet silky texture fills the palate and the finish is Lon and complex. Loving this!
