A wine that is way outside of what I would call a good QPR considering the following:
This wine reveals notes of smoke taint, faint on the back of the nose but definitely more present on the palate, specifically through the back end and finish. Also, I feel this vintage reveals a little more greenness than perhaps in other vintages.
*Score reflective of the wine itself and not my opinion on the QPR.

Showing complex notes of fig preserve, cassis, black plum and a touch of blueberry and strawberry compote packed in with notes of black licorice, candied violets, baking spices, slate, mineral, new leather and cigar box.
The palate shows nice freshness given the warmth of the vintage. Tannins are polished and above moderate, acidity is moderate-plus and alcohol perception is high. Flavors follow the nose highlighting the fig paste, black licorice, slate, and floral pastilles. The finish is long and pleasant. Very accessible in its youth!

Opens with notes of dark cherry, pomegranate, raspberry and wild strawberry on the nose with spice notes, hibiscus, deep floral pastilles, tea, saline, chalk and hints of bergamot and orange oil.
The high-toned palate shows a racy acidity, tea tinted tannins and deep core of fruit on the mid-palate. Flavors coat the palate with pomegranate juice, raspberry sauce, dark cherry, juicy strawberry, hibiscus tea, floral pastilles, orange skin, salty minerals and hints of spice. The finish is deep and long.

Inky and opaque in the glass. Aromas waft from the glass giving scents of candied violets, floral pastilles, incense and baking spice that are backed by notes of blueberry reduction, Chambord, smashed marionberry, sandalwood, spices and notes of licorice and smoky mineral that play along well.
The palate show impressive fruit density, above moderate fine-grained tannins and juicy berry tinged acidity. Mouthcoating with flavors of black licorice, candied violets, spice, blueberry sauce, marionberry and raspberry liquor that bring in notes of mineral, toasty oak and sandalwood that linger through the long, youthful finish.

Sowing herbaceous notes of sage, thyme and green vegetal aromas that mingle with pencil shavings, cigar box, rubbed violets, earth, cherry, plum, cooked berry and subtle spice and oak tones.
The palate is medium+ bodied with dry, firm tannins and balanced acidity. Savory flavors of herbs, earth, tobacco, No. 2 pencil and pepper meet notes of cherry, currant, plum and violet. The chewy finish lingers letting the textures and notes of cocoa play out.
